Armor was swapped out and around a bunch for the sandies. Your best bet is to focus on one particular scene the best you can. Look at some SWAT submissions for the trooper you want to emulate and go with that.

Any update on getting 501st access? Quite a few of us waiting
-
Considering the people who have pre-ordered still haven't received their December update as of today, I would go with a different company. I would start looking at the Getting Started section at WhiteArmor.net and read some of the vetted vendors armor descriptions. I personally use MTK with AM thighs and shins.

Love my trooper1 pauldron, just have to break it in so it stops pushing my helmet up.
-
Yeah, I would trim it and create a new return edge with a sealing iron you can get at model/hobby stores. Awesome you got it for free, I'm just not a fan of FX.
-
I put it towards the bottom but not far enough to stick out or be seen on the inner finishing strip.
-
What armor maker is that? The kidney plate looks rather tall and not flush to the back piece.
-
I got some industrial velcro and stuck one on the inside of the knee and I had to CA glue the other to the foam. Even though it had a sticky side, it would always stay attached to the other velcro and come off the foam. I wanted it to be removable because the type of foam I bought from JoAnn's allows it to be rinsed and is made for outdoor furniture. I'm a sweaty beast so this is a must.

Finally got my approval this morning. TD-82573 reporting in!

Thank you!

Thank you Airborne Trooper! I was curious about that one! I have not read a definite answer on that yet. I have both shoulder straps so either way I will be covered on that issue. This is exactly what I need to ensure a proper build the first time.
If you double ply the elastic and sew it together it makes it much stronger and won't allow the shoulder bell to tug it as much. I just made a new set this weekend.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you need elastic shoulder straps for SWAT now. No more canvas.
-
I believe TM is offering the SE sandtrooper kit. Also, the SE sandtrooper is used in the new Battlefront game.

I haven't been a member here long enough but based on what I've been seeing, the wooden block looks like the more popular option. I will keep you in mind when I am in the market for a bapty though and look forward to your changes/improvements.

I shimmed with ABS and bonded it together with ABS paste. Then I sanded it down to blend the piece together. WhiteArmor.net has a ton of tutorials on this if you need some examples.

I'm glad to see that won't be implemented. I saw many of the purposed ones up to vote but not that one. I've literally been wanting to accomplish this goal for years and about had a heart attack when I read that. I see some reasoning behind some of those and also agree with some but disagree with others. Today was snap hold making day and hope to have everything except the legs done tomorrow. Need to have that done first so I can accurately assemble and size the thighs. I have a build thread on FISD but will start a new one here

Hello, everyone! I've been lurking here for years and it wasn't until this year that I was finally able to pull the trigger and pick up a nice MTK kit. I'm about 80% done with my build and now I am at a potential road block. I see in the potential CRL update that there's a possibility of not allowing sandtroopers shorter than 5'8". Well, I'm 5'5". Should I sell my pouches I just got and go TK? My budget is pretty tight so I'm not interested in spending more money just to be told I'm not eligible.
-
Looking good, I just started my MTK kit this week.
-
I would love to but I don't have the tools or space to do any wood work in my apartment.

Haha, I'm learning very quickly that this hobby can become quite expensive. Although a lot cheaper than my car hobby, the wifey basically said this would be my only set of armor for a long time.
Back on topic.... I bought a size 9 and they fit larger on me, but since I plan on putting in some insoles it shouldn't be a big deal.
-
Sorry I was referring to the T-21, but they Doopy's doesn't make those. They won't ship their DLT-19 due to high shipping rate. I will be buying a E-11 from them soon though
-
Jason Ive bought a Doopys resin E-11 to go with my desert sergeant (just in case I get any SWAT aspirations) but lets face it the best bit of being a sandy is carrying a BFG!!
No kidding, just have to wait until WoodChuck starts another run since I can't get Doopy's in the US.
-
Thanks! I wasn't aware of that!

Mike, I really enjoy reading your build thread. Your armor, pack, and T21 look amazing! I'm also going the sergeant route and was wondering if the T21 was just for fun since I didn't see it in any of the sergeant layouts that Panda has posted.
