  1. That's why we're here man. Always aim to make the front as accurate as possible. Some of dad bod guys need a little more room on the back of pieces
  2. I can't remember on the top of my head and my armor is buried because I just moved. Unless you have super short arms, I would advice not cutting any of the putter arms down. If you need to, you can make the swoop deeper. I had to do it on mine because I got wicked armor bite. You can hold the pieces on your arm and check against the natural contour of your arm and muscle. Some kit makers make identical arms though.
  3. It's going to take some time. I mean look how long Phasma took. We more than likely will need the blu-ray to get stills and the bonus features for possible glimpses of this character. The visual guide is good but doesn't go into a lot of detail. There's more detail on some minor Jehda background character that was shown for 1 second in the visual guide.
  4. The TKTalkie is actually cheaper than my iCOMM so that was nice. I originally wanted to sell my iCOMM and buy a ROMFX because I have always heard such good things but between the cost and wait list I am glad I went this route.
  5. This will help to give a few more angles: http://starwarshelmets.com/original-ANH-Stunt-Stormtrooper-armor-helmets.htm
  6. I used packing tape just long enough to take the submission photos. I had a pack before my first troop though.
  7. Me either, speaking of which, yesterday was my 1 year anniversary in the 501st!
  8. I'm not a guru with MS Paint and don't have photoshop at work so here's my best I could do. You can see on those ears the mold line. I would trim maybe 2 to 3mm before the mold line, as I have indicated in red. Give yourself a buffer and slowly start shaping it with a sanding drum on your dremmel. That's how I've done mine. You have a ton of material left on your ears as it stands now.
  9. Yes it's barely showing on the bottom right of that photo. I'm hoping Santa Claus brings me this book for Christmas. I saw it in person last night but I felt bad buying myself something before Christmas
  10. You don't need a backpack for your basic 501st approval. You'll only need it for PO and SWAT (depending on character)
  11. This helped me a ton when doing my ears: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/29238-my-helmet-ear-tutorial/
  12. Thought I would share my current helmet setup. I have purchased the majority of my electronics from ukswrath. I have 4 fans (I'm a sweaty dude by nature), amp, hovi tip speakers, and wired for a hearing assist but I'm not using it at the moment. I just replaced my iCOMM for a TKTalkie which is a Teensy board running software that provides radio chatter sound effects and some static or pink noise when speaking. It's fairly customizeable but is a DIY project. Here's the link to the project: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/39692-tktalkie-v20-released/ And here's my helmet and a demo of the TKTalkie
  13. Once you get around to putting it together you'll love it and want to use it all the time. I'd feel naked without mine.
  14. The only thing I can nitpick about, which I don't think will hinder your deployment, is the length of your blue/grey bottles. They look a little skinny as well.
  15. I agree that it's basically a R1 TK with a pauldron and pack but they are weathered and they are labeled Sandtrooper in the visual guide. There's actually 2 different packs to choose from as well. Most famous is the ammo box version.
  16. Lookup Mr. Nostripes on white armor.net. He sells the original strapping kits so you'll know what I'm talking about. Wrist portion of the forearms get completely removed. Everything else is optional. Just saving you from making the mistake I did.
  17. Thighs: deep swoops are the inner thighs. If you've done a clone, this will be a piece of cake. My recommendation even though you're only aiming for PO, leave return edge on parts that will need original strapping screws shown in case you decide to go SWAT. You'll need the chest and ab screws for PO.
  18. FISD already got FO TKs and now R1 TKs, they shouldn't push back about us having Jedha Sandtroopers
  19. Oh, man! If you made an aluminum bapty it would be awesome! Probably be more than I could afford, but I can at least drool over it.
  20. Yeah, definitely look too long. Vitamin bottles work well, I used computer monitor cleaning wipe bottles.
  21. Looks good man! Let us know how 501st submission goes!
  22. I put velcro on the front of my shins and on the "tongue" of the boot. Can't tell 100% but those boots look short. If you decide to replace them, go to tkboots.com
