The dials on the radio boxes in that picture don't have the white sections painted on. There is one pack that many of us commonly refer to as "The White Dial Pack". It has white pie wedges painted onto the dial and it has the bee stinger but no antenna on the bottom. It's not a big deal. There was a tremendous variety of packs built and it appears that several of them were being constantly rebuilt as well. I just made my pack to look like the white dial pack so I was always looking for reference materials on that one. At the risk of sounding self-indulgent, I have a brief story to tell you. In the wake of ROTS in 2005 I found that I still loved SW. This idea was challenged a bit by the age of Jar Jar, but never completely reversed. That same Summer I went to my first Comic Con and met some 501st members. I was most interested in the sandtrooper costumes and fortunately I found my way here. Everyone here was much more open and welcoming at other trooper forums at the time so I settled in and never looked back. I've always found this to be the most helpful costuming forum out there, bar none. I started with an FX kit and was very proud of it. I assembled and weathered it, built my BFG and my pack all with the goal of joining the MEPD as soon as my 501st application was approved. All went as planned and pretty soon I was trooping as an MEPD police officer. Awesome! Thing is, over time, the accuracy bug can get you, especially if you hang out on this board very long. I started upgrading. The TM helmet was the first major upgrade, but it went on from there. However, I was never quite happy with my costume. Because of my stature (I'm 6-3) I would never be 100% accurate even with the best of everything. So I decided what any self-respecting tall trooper will most likely decide - to tackle a Vader costume. I'm currently on the road to my ANH Vader and I couldn't be happier about it except for the fact that I need to sell my sandy to be able to afford it. So you see, this forum's infectious quest for accuracy has been what has eventually inspired me to turn in my BFG. While I'll continue to visit this forum frequently and chat it up with all of my friends here, I will no longer be an MEPD detachment member. While that saddens me, you can bet that I will be one Vader who'll always request a sandtrooper escort. Troop on, my friends. (That's me in front to the right of the banner at C4.)

Coolness. This is one of the better scratch-built packs I've seen. Obviously a labor of love! Great work! A couple of little things: - The "white dial" pack didn't have an antenna on it's bee stinger but if you'd like to add an antenna it would look better if it were thicker. -Ever consider drilling out the "speaker" holes on the radio? -Dessert cups might look better on this pack than your bowls. Even tho the dessert cups are a little undersized they have the requisite flare at the ends. Kudos!

Despite the fact that this has been addressed before, I think the idea of making a sticky is a sound one. There can be big differences in size between an AP and an RT-mod for example. Will the trooper who'd most like to take on this project please step forward? *all troops but xavier take one step back* Ahhh, I see xavier has volunteered.

It's pretty easy to hand paint them. That's the way the originals were done. Give it a try! I did a video review on my website at costumebot.com wherein I list the big mods that need to happen and show this helmet alongside my TM.

Just for the record, disliking a costume is not the same thing as the detachment saying it will not accept it. This has been discussed in the past and I believe it would be accepted if someone recreated the mustard-troopers accurately. Is that the case? Just wondering.

I love scratch-built props and yours looks awesome! One hint - you may want to seal the wood with something before painting to hide the grain. I've used a product called mod podge that does the trick but I'm sure there are other good sealers out there too.

You have SERIOUSLY got to do a video tutorial on how you fabricate your props. They always look awesome!

The top three holes should have buttons. The bottom position should be a slot. Here's a thread with a pretty close conversion. You can at least get an idea from these pics: Ab Plate Thread

CRAZY! Those are exactly the containers that I remembered when I was starting this project but I never found one to use. My grandmother had one that she kept orange juice in. LOL!

I don't doubt that there are countless better parts out there. When I was originally building this I pretty much used what I had on hand. I hear the base piece I used is no longer made but there's bound to be something even better out there.

Despite the fact that I really dislike the SE sandies, I'd love to see this tackled as an exercise so to speak. You so rarely even see ROTJ troops.
