  1. Well no luck yesterday.. In the imortal words of Bobby Bouchee' "the soich continues" 2" pipe will not work for all of the end caps I have..(took the pipe that came with the one det I purchsaed on FISD)nobody carried that size. I will see if I can find some thin walled PVC in 2 1/2 that might work/should work hopefully work...
  2. I have gotten more than my fair share of help from people here and on the FISD. Im glad that I could finally give a little of that help back.... Really glad that it finally showed up I was starting to wonder if it got lost in the mail...
  3. Yeah I know and the pauldron also.. Have to try and find a time I can run up when your home.. I thought easy I took the actual cap with me.. Pretty sure they thought I was crazy test fitting that to the end of every type and style pipe they had.. Of course it was Lowes (good luck getting any help there) Ill try the Home Depot this afternoon there is also an ACE Hardware maybe I will have better luck the next go around..
  4. OK so I thought I would run and get my PVC tube for my mortar today.. I figured everyone simply uses their thermal det. end caps and what do I figure out... I cant find a tube that fits my end caps... I have 3 different thermal dets and end caps and none of them will fit in a 2" tube. it seems as though I need a 2 1/4" give or take tube. Is there another option that is acceptable? If not I will have to figure a way to make my caps fit on a different size tube...
  5. Wow I did manage to link my account here with my facebook.. thats pretty cool...
  6. OUCH!!! streptococcusinfluenza quarantine time.... Honesly not sure how Jay was able to help, he was battling the entire time..
  7. No not yet.. this is my first go around.. hopefully in the next week or so I will be submitting my pics to my garrison for approval. I started out in the FISD but was convinced to play in the sand... And loving the decision...
  8. Yeah I know.. tried to use the same one I had on the FISD but it wont load up.. and I am having issues resizing any other pics to post...
  9. Unfortunately I dont have anything that will work for them 12-14 probably but not the younger ones:( Still down for a little financial support though..
  10. Thaks to some serious help from trooper1 (while fighting off the flu) I was able to get really near completion on Friday. I have to re-sew a few things, shoulders and re-adjust the garter (which is why im not wearing) and finish my belt up. Jay said that my pauldron is finished and my backpack has arrived (jay says great work by the way RICK!!!)A few other little odds and ends and I will be ready to submit for membership.. Here are some pics of how the weathering turned out.
  11. Rick great deal just let me know what we can do to help. I love our national pass-time and I stil play in a baseball league myself so I know all about the cost involved getting equipment. We play in a wooden bat league and those are expensive enough I have seen the aluminum bat prices when getting my bats. What age ranges are you coaching? I may have some old equipment that still has safe-playable life left in it that I can also donate if your coaching an older age group.
  12. I was hoping that there wasnt a preferance.. Right now I already have some canvas that I am trying to fix so the shoulder bell button doesnt show... I guess it wont be long till I am changing those out for some elastic then.. Thanks... Hopefully Ill have my sewing stuff finished afterwhile and I can post up some full test fits.. All I need to do is finish this chest/back then get the arms all strapped up and then its weather and tweek time...
  13. Is there a preference to the edges of the shoulder straps? Should they have a finished edge or is the unfinished frayed edge prefered?
  14. I agree not sure how I ever got by with a regular cell.. Then again.. I remember my 1st cell was one of those big bag phones that you had to leave plugged into the lighter in the car... Of course I dont know how I ever survived without DVR remember having to record only 1 TV show at a time...
  15. I thought this was a great topic Pat.. After some more help from Jay on Saturday really close to getting finished.. When I started of doing my TK I was paranoid I would pick up my armor like I was carrying a new born.. If I bumped a part in the floor while working, I stopped what I was doing to check on the part in the floor, hoping that I didnt make a mark on it... Its been such a relief working on my TD I knock something over now, I dont even flinch or pick it up... Actually I just give it a little kick across the floor.. Even though I still have headaches with the 1st time build, its a LOT more enjoyable now....Wishing I had gone TD from the begining...
  16. Man thats hilarious..... Sometimes I ask a question without searching first.. Then again.. I never seem to get a good response when I search... Maybe I need to work on my search questions....
  17. OK so I was workin on my belt last night and thought that I would see how it looked with the Spanish pouches on.. Any of you that have them or have used em in the past how are you supposed to put these on? I have a belt that I got from the TKittle on FISD and these do not seem to fit on it. I assumed that they would slide on with the loops but they didnt want to go figure I could force them on but I think that it will bunch/pinch the belt and it wont lay flat.. (of course maybe thats the way its supposed to be). Any suggestions?
  18. Yeah Jay is the one that convinced me to go dirty... Im liking the choice I made more and more everyday... Too many cooll extras with the TD.. granted some of 'em have been a pain to get a hold of but, thats half the fun...right
  19. Thanks didnt ever about the shins kept thinking about the tops.. but the ankles...well that would be the easiest way to get some adjusting done.. not much to worry about loosing there, especially since I dont think it will take much to begin with.. Ill hold off on any major chop jobs because im trying to get my schedule worked out and make it to Jay's(trooper1) to help me knock this out. Be better to have some experience on hand and not go doing something Ill regret...
  20. OK after BirthdayPalooza ended, and some technical difficulties with the sewing machine I got back to work today. Finished my belt for my thighs and thought I would give em a check... I am thinking that I need to trim even more from the over all length????? (just trim the another 1/2" or so from the thigh tops) There was a lot of catching and grabbing between the shins/thighs... and I dont even have the battery pack for the right thigh added yet.. I considered just adjusting the length on the garter, but that would then have the thigh tops hitting the ab/cod... Do you guys agree?
  21. Well I made a practice run on my secondary set that I wont really be using.. I am hoping that this is close enough to being right as far as if I got it dark enough without being too dark.. Only goign to get one shot once I start on the other... I will take all comments good bad or ugly...
  22. Thanks gang,Yep.... At least there is light showing now.. I want to be done, but not at the cost of looking like a set of Rubies armor or be one of those guys that has everything except his boots malfunction 15 minutes after a troop starts because I rushed it.. There will always be something that needs to be upgraded, or tweaked.. Ill be limited the next couple of days as to what I get to work on because of my daughters birthday... My wife has sorta turned the rest of this week into birhdaypalooza.. Lost of house cleaning for the big party saturday, and my wife is more worried about my armor getting destroyed by little ones than I am.. So ill be doing most of my sewing stuff the next day or so... Today is actually her birthday spend the last hour and a half putting a Barbie Dream House together... BUT SHE IS NOW 5 and that means SHE GETS TO START WATCHING STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least ANH anyways......
  23. Not sure how I missed that post blue.. Thanks for the heads up.. I went back to the shorter strap between the but and kidney, and adjusted the cod/but strap seems to have helped some. Im sure Ill still need to try your idea on top of what I already did.. I am wondering about the chest/back.. Im thinking Im going to have to trim the back up? I cant tell if I am even close on the chest/back... Thanks for all the help trying to keep me in line gang...
  24. Yeah, Funny enough I actually need to clean them a little... at least the one.. not taken a chance on if thats mold or just discolored...
