  1. I will be there, I am definitely down for a group photo too, not sure about making the parade yet though. Wife isnt a 501, so I cant ditch her to go running around all day. She will be with me on the floor though saturday!
  2. Did some work to the suit this week for Dragoncon, figured I would update Helmet: Reposition 4 fans and battery holder backpack: added gauge dial to left side changed out mortar tube Stiffened it up a bit with some drywall screws (hidden) Went to the army surplus and bought some H shaped padded straps, removed the 1" webbing Armor: Reshaped thighs (FINALLY!!) attached ammo pouch to chest with chicago screws, covered head with hot glue to lock it down Attached ammo pouch to belt with snaps and rivets...it aint moving now! Weapons: Replaced the DLT-19 with a T-21 from Solo. I want a sturdier 19 at some point, didnt care for the rubber one Pics hopefully this weekend, if not will see some of you guys at DC
  3. Thanks guys! Guess I need to find and old backpack!
  4. What do you guys use as strapping for your packs? I have been using 1" webbing, but it kinda digs into the shoulders. Not a huge deal, but it does get uncomfortable. I was at wal-mart today looking for some padding to slide over it, but they had no idea what I was talking about. A buddy suggested buying a school bag and cutting the pads off that, but it seems like kind of a waste. Any ideas?
  5. I am looking to start building a DLT-19 at work this week. I am basically just sitting around, so I have LOTS of time on my hands. I went to the PVC scratcg builders group and got a few templates, but nothing is measured and some things are printing in way different scales than others, and his full build tutorial is no longer available. I think I am going to do the barrel in aluminum or conduit since I have 13 hrs a day and all the machinery I could ask for here, if I cant find the right sizes, I can always just use PVC. Any help is EXTREMELY appreciated, even if its just for the barrel sizes and templates!! I started drilling PVC out for e-11's last night since I couldnt find anything, so I will have a few projects going at the same time I guess
  6. I tried to rent a theater to show empire for the anniversary last year, we wanted to do it right, donate all proceeds to charity, but lucasfilm shot it down. It was going to be a one showing midnight movie. Oh well
  7. I think that would limit it to how many color shirts we can print on though. I want to do black, white, tan, and maybe a ringer shirt
  8. Man, you made that look easy!!!! haha, looks great! I would like to color it up with an orange pauldron and figure out the background. We plan on printing these up next month for out TD patrol, let me know what size you want
  9. Ok, I have no idea how to use photoshop, paint, or any other program to properly do this. I took the picture that you see as my avatar, cropped it and blew it up a bit so I could get the deisgn and I basically just traced it onto paper with a marker. I think this can be done much better, I just dont know how to do it. We are planning on using this design on a t-shirt if anyone can help out. Let me know if you are interested and what its gonna cost me. This is what I have so far
  10. what detail pics?? imagine that! The helmet has 4 teeth cut out, they are just small teeth I guess We worked the CRL, requirements, and used both of our costumes while helping Brett update his armor. It was bought as a deployed kit, but we changed up a few items and are still making mods. While I dont think the 3 of us are shooting for SWAT level (we are basically making up our own characters) we are taking the commitment to detail just as serious. We have 3 TDs now (as soon as Powwers gets approved) and hoping to get a few more. We started a Patrol, are in the works on making t shirts nd patches, and I am currently working on making a filter backpack so we can all 3 have different componments to our suits. Its coming along nicely!
  11. I may be in, but I am not finished! 3 stripes to the back pack as suggested. me like!
  12. Sweeeeet! I plan on adjusting those belt pouches a bit, they are just held on with a snap right now and it doesnt work too well This is awesome, both of my costumes accepted into the higher ranks in one day. Makes all those hours of building, months of waiting, and thousands of dollars spent all worth it! Now if you will excuse me, I have a "deployed" patch to purchae
  13. I was just awarded Emperor Status on my Vader, lets see if I can get MEPD on my TD within the same 24 hr period!
  14. Consider the edges trimmed I may rip up the belt a little too!
  15. Better question...who was approved first and took the longest to get his butt in gear
  16. OK, had a chance to do some tweaking today, so we should be good to go First up: Ab Buttons. I removed the old ones and replaced them with Tandy snap pieces. Much bigger, I like em! This is an unpainted shot, you can see them finished on the full body pic Thigh ammo clip- Dropped down about an inch, can see in other pics (I forgot to get a progress shot!) kidney/ butt trim. Took about an inch of the edge, then ran it up onto the kidney plate and trimmed to the outside edge Ammo pouch 1- Relocated the small pouch. Worst sewing job in history, but it may actually work out Ammo pouch #2-Removed generic pouch and added proper 3 slot ammo pouch to match the shoulder one. Also note the bicep "thumbprint" position to the inside of the arm Sniper Plate- Raised up an inch or so Mushroom cap- modded the piece so it would sit lower
  17. This is me on the far left with my clone buddy John Mangus behind me us rushing the line to hold the fans at bay (far right) Apparently it was decided for everyone to line up in costume while we were chit chatting, so we were one of a dozen or so people not grouped up. I did however fall back with the TD's when we lined up for Lucas to walk down the street to the ride
  18. I trooped friday, I didnt know anyone there other than the guys from my garrison, maybe I should have chatted a few others up, would have been nice to meet some boardies
  19. I had to reposition it like that because it did not fit correctly in the other position. My original build had it pointed inwards, but it just didnt feel right. You can still see the glue in the top pic. No biggie, I will twist them sideways this weekend and get a pic or two in the correct position. Aside from that, any other major issues I need to attend to? I am working on the pack tomorrow to add the zip ties, and can grab the few pieces for the rifle on my way home.
