  1. Nice all around. I like the weathering. Pinches add character!
  2. Nice job! welcome, ner vod.
  3. Great job! I love troopin the TD!
  4. no.I found an old aluminum framed one and made it work. I'm telling you... I REALLY wasn't looking forward to building a pack. It all looked so complicated. Once I got started, though, it became something I looked forward to doing every day. I didn't worry about WHEN it would be done, and didn't set any timeframe for myself. It was just a "work on it when I have time" thing and I love it so much more than if I were to buy one. I wasn't going for screen accurate, but that would be easy enough to do. I wanted to make some special modifications to the appearance while still maintaining the basics. It would have actually been easier to do screen accurate now that I think of it!
  5. So...are you addicted to weathering yet? I thought I was done weathering, then I found half a box of grout in the garage. It never ends! Looking good!
  6. I was completely nervous about my pack, too. Then one day I just decided to go for it. It took a few months and LOTS of searching through the garage, attic, my parents attic, and many thrift stores. I started with the radio and built 1 small part at a time, and now I have a pack that gets compliments every time I wear it. People don't believe it when I tell them what I made it out of, and it was less than $50 total. (thread is the "so much fun" thread) As for the tools- the 2 most used tools I have are a dremel and rivet gun. They are cheap and IMO completely necessary for prop building. Go get yourself some and start playing!
  7. Looks nice. I agree, though...too clean.
  8. It is a little known fact that they used bomb-sniffing rats instead of dogs on Tattooine. Womp rats. This one is named "BullsEye"
  9. Looks great! Well done...
  10. If you look even closer, she already has my taint strap unhooked!
  11. Blasters allowed, but keep them holstered. I don't have a holster, so mine stayed on the table.
  12. Special Olympics Regional Event- April 6th 2011
  13. Neat pic. Really shows the "quality" of the screen-used packs! Seems strange that they would select this particular pack for a card when there are so many better pictures of better packs out there.
  14. Looks good Brother! As for the inside of the bucket, may I suggest Plasti-Dip. It rubbercoats the inside. I use it on all of my helmets. I feel like ti strengthens it. Not sure if it really does, but I really like the look and feel of it. About the weathering- just search through the weathering threads, pick a method and go for it! If you don't like it, a magic eraser takes it all off so you can fix it the way you like it. You really can't mess it up and it feels good to do it yourself and add your own personal flair to it. Remember to make something unique and obvious to you so you can pick yourself out in pictures (Mine is my pauldron weathering) I like that you have the shoulder pouch even with no pack. I was trying to figure out a way to do that, but ended up just waiting until my pack was done. Good job, trooper!
  15. funny- but Chewbacca's made the most sense to me...
  16. My TIE pilot is cool. Comfortable. More maneuverable, I can sit, squat, kneel, etc. It doesn't leave bite marks all over my body. I can breathe and see in the helmet, and I can actually reach my helmet when wearing the full suit. I have a certain attitude when wearing it. I am too good to be a groud pounder. Leave that for the nameless, faceless minions who lack the skills to fly. But... Whenever I can, I wear my Sandy. The fans love it. I love it. I get so much more interaction and comments. My TI is more expensive and 100% cannon, but I always catch people checking out- I mean really studying and checking out my TD. I get several comments every time I troop in it about how much work it looks like I put into it. It opens up the opportunity for interaction with fans. The conversation starters write themselves. It makes more sense for me to ask if these (pointing to kids or whatever) are the droids I am looking for. I feel like an elite member of the Empire. I have been in the suck. I have lived on minimal supplies and field rations, sleeping in my gear and relying on only the other troopers in my squad. I have been used and abused by the officers who are over me. Told over and over again, "I'm sorry, but your leave has been canceled and we need to to deploy to some gosh-forsaken heck-hole in the bassward-ask section of the galaxy" I am a TD. I am a Ground pounder. I am a Grunt. And I am proud.
  17. Here are some pics of it done and weathered and in use for the first time...
  18. Finally got my pack done. First time trooping in it here!
  19. I vote this as the next T-shirt. Seriously! It would work with just a black and white design.
  20. Finally got it as done as it is going to be for a while! Here are some of it on "Randall," my mannequin. I am in the process of weathering it now.
  21. No. Same company I think, but those are too big and ac. The one I have is 2-3 inches and battery powered. Here is one I just found on ebay for you. I don't remember what I paid for mine, but I think it was less than $20 http://cgi.ebay.com/BLUE-Pocket-Plasma-Clip-On-lumindisc-light-NEW-/250655958003?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a5c4263f3
  22. I think I got it from thinkgeek.com or maybe ebay. It was a while ago, and I have been trying to find a use for it.
