  1. Hey Everyone, I finally finished my TD and I took some pictures this morning before work. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until the weekend to have someone come over and take pictures of me actually wearing it...especially for my 501st application. My pack is almost done, and hopefully will be done this weekend...maybe. Anyway, I want to say thanks to everyone! You've all been very helpful along the way. And, after all was said and done, I really liked the weathering once I saw all the pieces together. Let me know what you guys think. Like I said, I'll add some pictures with me in it this weekend. -Rick
  2. I just built a VT kit. It was my first kit and I'm still putting my ducks in a row for my 501st application. I found it quite difficult to put together, but the overall look in the end was amazing. I'm very happy with the final results. If you'd like, I can post some pics with the completed pieces. They required a lot of trimming and shaping. I don't think I turned off my modeling iron for three weeks.
  3. No problem! Anything I can do to help. I had the same problem and almost lost my chance to get a sweet MG-15. I certainly don't want something similar happening to anyone else in here. It just wouldn't be right.
  4. Awesome pics, Rick! Love the clone armor and definitely the pistols! Hopefully I'll be out there trooping with you guys sooner than later!
  5. This seems to be a common problem since the MEPD forum uses IPB 3. IE6 and IE7 don't display the layout correctly in IPB 3. The best way, if you're using Windows XP, to fix the problem is a free download and install of IE8 found here. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx You can also use Google Chrome, but if you're already familiar with Windows and Internet Explorer, just download IE8 and follow the setup prompts. It's very simple. The ARRAY problem with Firefox is definitely a cache problem. Unfortunately, it could be as simple as emptying your cookies like Noel said, or it could be that IPB is looking for a cache programmed in the browser that doesn't exist. There may be an IPB 3.x patch for Firefox, but I don't really know. I have very little knowledge of Firefox and updating it.
  6. My iPod is full of something from every genre. From Buddy Holly to Wu-Tang Clan. However, my favorites are really punk bands and folk rock. I play in a punk rock band called Two Fisted Law (We're playing the El Bar in Philly on the 25th if anyone is around...shameless plug ). We released one album last year and just started work on a follow up. I also put out an acoustic album in 2006 with a friend of mine. So both of those types of music are my passion. I LOVE Millencolin, Bad Religion, David Gray, Bouncing Souls, Tim Barry, Alkaline Trio, Johnny Cash, The Misfits, The Smashing Pumpkins, Simon and Garfunkle, No Use For a Name, Opersation Ivy and several smaller bands I've gotten really close to (The Jukebox Romantics, The Jesse Minute, Born to Lose). Going to see bands play? Well, I love that too. I'm always in the mood for a good show!
  7. I'm pretty sure my first Vader costume looked exactly the same. The only difference was the lightsaber. I had gotten a plastic one for my birthday (and I always remember these) that had a whistle vent at the top and made whooshing sounds when you swung it. When I finish my TD, maybe I will post pictures with the Vader costume as my before and after representation of my skills. I think practice has shown an unquestioned improvement even in the last week. Now I'm fired up. I want to get out of work and take another stab at it tonight!
  8. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. I think I'm going to step away from it for a day or two and concentrate on some backpack work I need to do. My worry is that if I'm not comfortable with the job I'm doing now, what happens when I get to more difficult parts like the helmet or chest. I'll try the thighs in a few days and let you know how that goes. Maybe I just need to stop dwelling on the same parts. And it has been extremely fun! Part of wants to see the finished project but the other part of me enjoys having it to work on. Now I know why no one stops after one set!
  9. Okay, I've been at the weathering stage for over a week now and I've only worked on the arm pieces (shoulder bells, biceps, forearms and hand guards). I just can't seem to get this right. From all the pics I've seen and all the weathering tutorials there are out there, mine looks nothing like them. It's starting to get really frustrating. I've done 5 or 6 layers on some parts. I've wiped them down and started anew a few times already. Every time it ends up looking the same. Here are some pics. Maybe just changing a few details will make me happy. Any advice or comments are welcome.
  10. Absolutely awesome! love the sandy pic too!
  11. I love the prediction! I'll take the rematch. And what a better way to start the Pats season than shutting up T.O.? The only thing that guy can run anymore is his mouth!
  12. Oh the Jets...it's going to be awesome to watch them finish 7-9 and all these Jets extremists start jumping off buildings! If someone put a gun to my head and said pick a winner of the NFC East, I would tell them just to pull the trigger now. Is there going to be a more interesting division to watch this season? I don't think so. And lastly, my two cents...GO PATS!
  13. I recently finished building an AP kit and I used the following Flikr album for alot of my reference. I'm not familiar with TE2 armor, but maybe there are some helpful tips in there for you. It had plenty for me and alot of great pictures. http://www.flickr.com/photos/stukatrooper/sets/72157606489989481/with/2746839336/
  14. I had the same problem with IE7. I tried updating the javascript and installed an IPB 3.x patch...nothing. I just upgraded to IE8 and it's fine now. You can also use Google Chrome, it has no issues.
  15. Thanks for the welcome!! I live in Danbury. I checked out the CTG website and sent my forum request. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time. It’s just been cost prohibitive until recently. Having the MEPD resources has made it immensely easier than I had anticipated. You guys are extremely helpful. I was hoping to be done for NYCC this year, but some medical issues have set me back a little bit. I still plan to attend, though. It’s a short train ride. As I approach completion, I really look forward to reaching out to fellow members of the CTG, especially ones like you in the MEPD. I’m sure I will have tons of questions as the day gets closer…especially in the details. I’ve also been taking photos along the way. I will post some soon. If you know anyone else in my area starting out, I’d be glad to help…for what it’s worth.
  16. Hey Everyone, I'm Rick from Connecticut. Started my first TD project a couple months ago and it's coming together nicely. Hopefully putting in my application to 501st by the end of the month...and then requesting deployment (I have high aspirations). Couldn't have gotten this far without the wealth of information everyone has shared at the MEPD! Thanks a bunch
