  1. A shirt would be pretty sweet. But I'd give 20 Republic credits to the first one who uses it for a tattoo. Sadly, Republic credits are no good out here.
  2. I love all that snow.. Too bad we can't keep it on the ground here.
  3. I wouldn't recommend Gatorade in the Camelpack.. I wear protective suits for my work and used Gatorade in a Camelpak once for a longer operation we had to perform. Even added ice. But after several hours (read that as 5 straight hrs), it was just syrupy and warm.. Really gross.. Just saying.
  4. It's an awesome family event. Congrats on getting started on your TD.
  5. We find it funny in our house also.. I'm 5'10". He is 16 and 6'1" and wants to be 6'4". I do have tall family members. Apparently the tall gene skipped me. Oh well, the best part of this is that if he wants a different kit then I have a suit ready to go. We do like trooping as a family. The kids have spent the last 2 years just helping out as handlers. And my daughter already has a few more costumes that she wants.
  6. So I did mention that I would try to keep this build thread up to date.. Looks like I got a little behind.. But here are a few updates. We just trooped at a local Toys R Us for the 2011 Kickoff of the Marines Toys 4 Tots Toy Drive. I was able to complete not one but 2 kits for my kids in time for this. Well, maybe not complete, but mostly finished and troopable. And here is a shot of me with my son in TD and my jawa daughter. Don't worry about critiquing the armor yet. I know there are a few glaring issues that I will be working on soon enough (plus it isn't dirty enough). But not too bad if I may take a moment to pat myself on the armored back. He even helped me put the last drops of glue on just minutes before leaving for the troop. In closing, I did take several pics throughout the build progress. Not a metric ton of pics but a few. I'll be posting them up soon.. Here in this very thread.. Followed by (hopefully *fingers crossed) weathering pics. I picked up a small 2 gal Compressor with an airbrush attachment..
  7. So what does it mean when a Pilot puts together a Sandy?
  8. Been a while since I have posted anything.. So.. Um.. 1
  9. Well, it's been awhile since I posted anything here or even stopped into this forum. My apologies. I'll try to keep this better updated Here is a brief update: I have glued the biceps and am starting work on the forearms. And here is a few pics of the helmet.
  10. Which would normally be okay.. except my daughter wants to be a jawa.. How about ewoks?? And thanks for the kind welcome.
  11. Lately, it seems like my hobby is haunting forums trying to learn all I can.. And work. But that isn't important, what's important here is that my hobbies include skateboarding and having fun with my kids. My retired hobbies are comic books and action figures. I have over 2500 comics and possibly in the neighborhood of 200 action figures. Most are in their packaging still. And now for a few pictures. P.S. The two boxes of Star Wars cereal are unopened and from Episode 2..
  12. I guess this is as good a place as any to start from.. The beginning.. *da-da-tish* I can't promise a thorough build thread here but I will try to keep it up to date at least. So.. My name is Jake, forum name Tech'Nomad. I'm based in Firestone, CO and my first build is a TIE Pilot (from FAC). As the topic title states, my son got an 'F' and that is a good thing. He is a sophomore in HS and he lettered in Jazz for the electric bass. He plans on doing it again next year with Concert Band and Advanced Jazz. Sorry I appear to be rambling. Must be the Nomad part. I'm building a TD so that when he graduates from HS, he can join the 501st Legion. He has squired with me on several troops already and is helpful with members of our Squad and Garrison. And in the long run, if he no longer wants to wear it (or can't, since he is 6'1" and 15), then I have another set of armor to choose from. Now how about some pictures: This years build clinic at FAC: My son trimming a forearm piece And I wanted to lay the pieces out to see what we have. I still need to get boots, soft parts, pack, and a decent BFG, etc...
  13. TI-4519 requesting permission to stay grounded even if my head is in the sky... I mean, 501st access requested.
  14. Greetings and Salutations.. I'm Jacob (TI-4519) from the Mountain Garrison. Currently I'm flying high in all black but my 15 yr old son has requested a Sandtrooper so he can be a member of the Galactic Academy. This is a benefit for me since it will give me a second set of armor. I'll be checking in for research purposes
