  1. I would have preferred that it was assembled. However, I must say that after jacking up the AP, the TE2 should be easier. I know what not to do now. #1 Stay away from heat guns completely...Thats a big no- no. No matter what anyone says. I will just live with the way its shaped. #2 Cut the eyes out from the inside and steady as she goes there. I left no "space between the lense and the face of the mask. the result was..... WHOLY CRAP, guess what just landed on my front doorstep....SHEEAAAHHT!!!! gotta go for now, will post pics ASAP!!!!
  2. Thanks for the replies everyone.
  3. Well..... I havent actually gotten the helmet from him yet,....but he did say it would be unassembled. Maybe he meant something else. The pic he sent me was unassembled. I guess I will find out when it gets here. I sure hope I am wrong. I already F'd up my AP. Thats why I had to buy this one!!. So I guess disregard this message until further notice.......
  4. Anyone make thier own knee plates? How does one go about it? How did you do yours? Where can I buy them if they cant be made? Update: Woops! I see there is already a post on knee plates!
  5. Are the thighs on the AP shaped correctly? Or is it going to end up looking fat legged like an FX set? in other words, will I have to trim off any extra strip area to get the alignment and appearance looking good? Am I correct in thinking that the strips that glue on top shoud be 3/4 of an inch wide? Did you guys put strips on the back of the thighs as well?
  6. Mines not assembled. I will need to cut everything. It never occured to me that most come assembled. I was in a hurry to get it, I guess he tried to get it to me ASAP by not assembling it. Anyway I will need to do this. Anyone have experience trimming the ears?
  7. I am about to assemble my new TE helmet. Any tips on assembly? Whats the best way to trim the ears? Things to be aware of?
  8. OK, I am a little late here..Can someone provide pics of what they mean? I am getting ready to assemble and it would help alot.

    Greetings

Welcome fellow San Diegan and AP owner!!!
  10. I havent been a member here very long, but I have really met some great people. Just off the top of my head... Mike, Seth, Tony, and Jorge have been very nice and helpful. This place rocks, and I cherish my membership very much. Its a great resource of info and a refreshing break from the other boards. No complaints here at all. The command structure works well too. I have seen problems resolved quickly and quietly. Oh!, and the website looks better than ever as well. As a COSTUMING group, its almost all about accuracy and seeing who has made what to me. Personal pride in ones gear and wanting to look the part. Everyone here try's very hard to raise the bar. Theres nothing wrong with that. **** I scrapped my RT-MOD and started over with AP recently in my never ending quest to look Canon. Nothing has been lost in this "new" forum. There are many others that have ALOT of problems. I think as long as we keep it simple and (most importantly) fun, everything will be cool. Never take this more seriously than it really is, otherwise it looks scary.
  11. Hey Dude! nice to hear from ya!
  12. THATS IT DUDE!!!!!! sucky colors though....They charge even more for custom, and there is a minimum order. If you guys are really interested I will try to find a factory around here to have them made. Is anybody interested? I have no idea what the cost would be, but I can find out.
  13. If you print it on 11x17 paper at 100% its to scale
  14. I did make them. The tricky part is the edging. After I made them for myself I realized that making them for $30.00 a piece would be crazy. Each one takes about 3-4 hours to make. I dont have the proper sewing skills/machine for the edging. I was shopping aroung for a sewing place to make them, but never found anyone reasonable. I tell you what though, when I did post that I had accurate pauldrons for $30.00 on another forum, I could have sold 20 sight unseen! We are all brothers here so maybe someone will do it. I saw the exact pauldron on a website , only new, as a vintage chest protector. They were selling it for $70.00!!! apparently Torsten Hallman's chest protectors were very popular at the time, and very desirable to motorcross collectors now. The sad part to this whole thing was that I had to cut the chest protector apart to get the exact pattern. Be assured though...THAT IS THE EXACT SIZE Enjoy! ****, make me one too I can always use another
  15. I found the original on ebay. Its a Torsten Hallman chest protector. I bought it and made a pattern of it. Its on my website in a .pdf if you wanna download it. Its free. here is the link http://tk4510.com/images/pauldron.pdf
  16. Well, I dont think its a tranny pan or any othe rauto part. Those notches in the corners suggest that the pans are stackable. I can imagine them being stacked 15- 20 high. Hospital supply.... Food service....Camera rooms.... They almost look like those pans with the sliding clear tops for storage. kind of old school rubbermaid. I am leaning toward Hospital storage pans with sliding lids. Weren't they a powder blue also?
  17. I used the industrial strength velcro as "tape". use the soft side though:) Just hold the lens close to the eyes and tape the ends to the helmet with the "velcro tape". it will never come off again and its soft..no screws. If you ever want to change lenses again just rip em out. no problems.
  18. Thats cool! I have been wanting to find something like that. Seems like all the norwegian ones dried up!
