  1. Some of you guys may not know this but I do signs, decals, banners etc.. as well as trooperbay. Well today I got a call to do a train locomotive!!! A real train! They need me to do all the decals and company logo. Guess what the number of the locomitve is??? 501!!!! Irony!!!! Anyway...just had to share. :)

  2. I think an important lesson is learned here:

    1. Send armor as gift and declare at $100.00 value describe as "costume parts" or other name...

    2. when talking to customs about purchase made for anything be very vague and tell them only what they absolutely need to know..

    3. Never, never, ever contact lucasfilm or disney regarding costuming copyright issues unless you want trouble.

    4. For now dont send any armor or props to Germany because something illegal and or dishonest is going on somewhere over there..

  3. To give you an idea what that would cost:

Postal Express Guaranteed - FULL TRACKING

    18x18x18 box

    12 lbs

    San Diego to Australia

    $294.70

Most of the time Priority Shipping costs about $100.00 for the same package - or it did until a few months ago...

  4. I dont wanna point fingers here but, something is fishy. From time to time I will get a person that is dishonest. There is no way to prove they are lying. No way to prove the package arrived at the destination. No way to do anything. The Postal Service takes no accountability for anything. Priority shipping overseas is a joke.

If the armor maker is dumb enough to mark the package as merchandise on a purchase that large there would be considerable fee's due from the ricipient at customs and it would draw attention to the entire shipment as well. Why anyone would buy like this or sell like this I dont know. I cant say that I ship EVERYTHING as gifts but if I could then I would...see???? Buyers in international countries dont want to pay the HUGE import fee's. Armor makers especially should avoid sending "merchandise" as a general practice. They spend all this time evading lucasfilm using fake names, secret screen names, addresses, paypal addresses and such. WHY would they be dumb enough to ship MERCHANDISE????

I feel bad for the armorer. All that work and time and $$$. Once it leaves his hands it really is a gamble that the package will get to anyone overseas. The only guaranteed tracking on any package coming out of the US is EXPRESS. That will track to the customer door and its VERY expensive. Outside of that - there is no true tracking to customer even if you ship PRIORITY.

If in fact the customer really did get his stuff confiscated then I would raise all kinds of **** at the customs office. They have no right to take that kind of shipment from you. Someone either is stealing (which happens alot) or they do not understand their job description fully.... I would keep yelling and spitting in faces until they arrested me or gave me my **** armor.....But thats me :)

  5. You can scuff them up a little but for the most part they remain "cleaner looking".

I attached my mortar tube by drilling holes through the pipe and boxes and inserting a long screw from the box to the pipe. Then I threaded a nut from inside the pipe and tightened it all up.

  6. I call BS

#1 Its illegal to destroy anything that is shipped to a person that does not violate import laws.

#2 Disney or anyone else for that matter, does not influence the postal service in any way.

#3 If you send something to someone as a declared "gift" you are not violating copyright laws because you DIDNT SELL IT. - AND if you send it as merchandise then the person receiving it will get nailed with import fee's. So most people declare items as GIFTS to avoid the fee's anyway..

This is a vicious rumor. I ship "stuff" all over the world every day that has to be declared. I have not had ANYTHING like this happen. If it did I would more likely assume that the person was trying to steal from me than Disney "cracking down". Occasionally someone will say they did not receive the package. When that happens its either running late, totally missing, or stuck in customs for whatever reason....or the person is lying to me to get a refund or another item. (it happens).

You guys dont really think that Disney has that great of a pull do you? Its not like armorers are sending drugs or something. Its a costume! Like halloween!! Seriously this is silly....

I demand to see one ounce of proof.

  7. Part 5 - Shins – In this installment of Assembling Accurate Stormtrooper Armor I tackle the shins. First I explain what tools we’ll need and then I explain the differences between the left and right shins as well as the knee plates for TK (regular stormtrooper) and TD (Sandtrooper). Finally during assembly I discuss the two different techniques for the shins. I cover both the accurate “eye hook” method as well as the more popular but inaccurate velcro method.

  8. Part 3 - Biceps and shoulder bells – In this segment I tell you the tools you will need for assembly and describe the difference between all the parts. Then I assemble the biceps and trim the shoulder bells.

Part 4 - Thighs – In this segment I tell you the tools you will need for assembly and describe the difference between all the parts. Then I assemble the thighs.
