  1. Well, this is all theory but the thing is this.... You are looking at the pouches as a particular project but they are really just a small piece of something that the wardrobe or prop department had to deal with. It's not the production company dealing with it. It's an individual who was told to make 16 of these pouches by tonight because they shoot tomorrow morning at 6am. As that individual, you do what you are told. They didn't have the internet where they could look up MP40 pouches and find more on google. They probably has a couple different styles that they were showing as samples. They did the bare minimum of construction on this production which is very common on low budget films. Nowadays, we do a ton of manufacturing for film and television. Much more than you guys even imagine. On the CSI shows, for example, when you see a close up of a Q-tip being dragged across a credit card. If they didn't do it in post production CG then we probably built it 10x size including the Q-tip. All I'm saying is that there are no definates in this yet but there is nothing that supports that these pouches were an off-the-shelf military pouch either. These pouches are very poor quality construction and quite frankly really poorly designed. There are rivets holding the flaps on that really should have been sewn and are sewn on all of the other MP40 pouches we've seen. Exactly as Art has said, they are definately not even a modified Stolla Wien or Norwegian pouch. They are either yet another make of pouch or a Take a look...
  2. Actually, watching the way productions work, we make stuff that you can buy off the shelf all the time. The reason is that they need to shoot it tomorrow. The shooting schedule willl not generally change because you can't buy something off the shelf. It's too expensive per hour to hold up the camera with waiting. In this industry, we will work all night if we need to just to make something that you could've bought on Amazon. It happens all the time. I wish I could explain how crazy this industry is.
  3. OMG!!!!! It's my 100th post....LOL. Sorry...couldn't resist. I wanted to see what my status changed to.
  4. Just an FYI, These will be in full production next weekend just prior to Christmas. We are only doing a short run initially. Sorry about that. We wanted to get these done and out so we could get these scopes back to Art. We will most likely do another run soon. We've just gotta finish a couple other projects first.
  5. Yeah. Actually, moreso than our logo, they are going to be numbered individually. This is for several reasons but mainly, just because we can.
  6. Just to recap, since we've taken this thread further without anyone else commenting, check out BraksBuddy's post above for a description of how we've come to this point. Art has been nice enough to help me out with this project. I started this thread not knowing anything about the pouches. After all you guys pointed me in the right direction, I can safely say that I think we are REALLY close to having this thing wrapped up. Thanks for the patience. Thanks again, Art.
  7. In the move along seen, one set of canvas pouches appears to be brownish to me. Can't really tell very well. I don't have HD Star Wars.
  8. Yeah. I've altered the pattern again per my conversation with Art. Lee will have another go at it tonight. We've sent the driver out to pick up some more leather that looks to be closer to what is seen on camera. I'll post some more pictures tonight once we've got another prototype done.
  9. Oh yeah. Didn't mean to post the picture of the MG-15. That's Slavefive's project. I think he started an interest thread... that think is really cool.
  10. Actually, these pouches are the same height as the Stolla Wien pouches. The dimensions are the same. The flaps have been altered to look like the movie pouches which no one has identified. They are from a thinner leather to allow the wrinkles and such that are inherent in the movie pouches.
  11. Okay. I talked to a Art today who knows much more about the pouches and such than I. He showed me some great screen caps that show that the shoulder pouches are leather (aside from the move along guy) and even some differences in the construction of the pouches. We've determined the overall size and that the leather should be a tad on the thin side. There are definate clues that show the pouches caved in on the bottoms which would be very difficult if the leather were as thick as the normal leather pouches we see around. The flaps are not completely rounded but rather come to a rounded point. We missed on our button hole placement on this prototype and will correct it on the next prototype. this leather is 3 to 4 oz. but we will be using something in the 4 to 5 oz. range on the final pouches. The construction on the bottom has changed to reflect the new information from Art. I appreciate the help and input that everyone has given. Let me know what you think so far. Another question is this...Would you like for us to sew in accomodations for mounting or make this more as the pouches were originally made? One problem with making them military accurate is that there is good evidence pointing to the possibility that these pouches may have been made by the production company. This would explain why this particular make of pouch has never been found as wells as how poorly constructed these pouches appear by comparison to the real deal.
  12. Okay. Hang loose guys. I'm working on a new drawing. I think this will be it.
  13. Those look great dude. The only suggestion I might have is to cut wooden blocks to slide into the pockets. Soak the pouches in warm water then slide the block into the pockets. They should fit snuggly. Let the pouches dry. Pull the blocks out and the pouches should hold the form of the blocks like real MP40 pouches. Just a thought.
  14. Sure. It will take us time to collect hardware samples as well as shop the leather. We will also need to make new patterns that match the Stolla Wien pouches. I will have to take one apart to do that. I just order $100 worth of hardware to start the process. I should see that on Thursday. On the left, is the real Norwegian ammo pouch. On the right is our prototype that was patterned after it's sister pouch. We did not have the grommets for the bottom or the proper sized brass posts. This brown pouch is also a Norwegian MP40 pouch. Notice the difference in the flaps. This is the type of pouch that we will be copying. (This picutre is linked to www.looksirdroids.com)
  15. Okay. So can I safely say that most would prefer to have the pouch sets made in the Stolla Wien configuration? The flaps would be pointed although, we could make them round if you prefer. Here's what I think should be done.... Since i dont' really see any evidence to show that there were MP40 pouches made with round flaps, I assume that the Lucasfilm people made them that way from a set of Stolla Wien pouches. Therefore, I feel that the Stolla Wien pouches should be replicated including the "STOLLA WIEN" stamp. We will try to duplicate the hardware as closely as possible within reason. The stitching will be duplicated as well as the leather. We will match the Stolla Wien pattern. The pouches will be formed around blocks to ensure the blocky accuracy. The run will inlcude both pouches. What say you? If we decide to do this run, we will need a decent sign up list of 15 people and deposits to cover the materials (leather, brass buttons, grommets, d-rings. etc.) We will produce one set first to the best of our ability before we give a firm price +shipping.
  16. I think personally, and I should have put it up on the poll, I would like to make the Stolla Wien pouches. I would like to stamp the Stolla Wien name into the pouches. I vote the leather pouches with the Stolla Wien pattern and stamp.
  17. Well, personally....I don't care which ones. I like the leather ones but hey...it's not me making these. I've created a poll above to see what is needed. We will have to shop out the hardware required to do this. The canvas shouldn't be a problem. If there are markings on the pouches, ie. logos stamped in the leather or anything, we will emulate that as well. If we end up doing the Stolla Wien pouch sets, we will stamp them leather with the Stolla Wien in the proper placement. The hardware will be matched as closely as possible.
  18. Well this poses a big question? Would reproduction canvas pouches be more where the interest lies?
  19. Thanks very much. Alterations will be made to the pattern to reflect this set of pouches found on Art's site. For all intents and purposes, it is the same pouch but the flaps come to a point. The pouches in the frame capture above, look like they have rounded pouch flaps. Which are more correct? Anyone know?
  20. We can do that. I'll make those changes before we do the run. We based these on the Norweigen pouches but I can definately alther the pouch cad file before we do this. I'm just mainly interested in whether anyone would be interested in the pouches. As you know, the leather is expensive. It prices out at about $185 for 14 square feet. This isn't 14 square feet of usuable leather either. In the good leather, it may cost about $45 in materials for each pouch set.
  21. This is the run for replica movie accurate leather MP-40 style pouches carried by Sandtroopers. The price of this run is $145 +shipping per set. The run will commence on Tuesday December, 23rd. All payments must be made by then in order to get on the run. Lee will be doing only 12 sets for this first run. Please read the full thread to see the progress and how we ended up at this design. Please post or pm to be added to the run. Thanks very much guys. 1. Jango 5204 (hip/shoulder) PAID 2. TD-252 (hip/hip/shoulder) PAID 3. pappy1182 (hip/hip/shoulder) PAID 4. 22. Yeah...haven't gotten them yet. Don't know when but they look awesome. Probably the nicest I've seen yet.
  23. The MR CE helmet is great for the price. There is perfect symmetry and the size isn't bad. It has a good balance of the original scanned helmet that they used and adjustments for mass production. It's about 4 to 6 hours to modify and clean up. This is my MR CE. If you want a really good accurate helmet, you should contact LAWS. He has an incredible helmet kit. The detail is unbelievable and it is very accurate. He only cleaned up the crap problems from the original molds. We just ordered two kits. I don't want to give out pricing on his behalf but we are paying about $250 per kit but it is awesome!!! The pill shape even exists in the cheek tear drop. If you want accuracy....that's the helmet.... IMHO. Check this out....
  24. That looks great dude. I like the gritty look. Check this out. Made some shoulder bell pads for my new TD armor. I should be at the weathering stage tonight.
