  1. Hi all, Well thanks to my wife, and the kitchen being down a sieve, I found a softer mesh. Please let me know what you think. I just need feedback on the tips themselves and price. I will post these in the ongoing sales section as soon as I get some more cast and some more mesh from the market and see if there is an interest,I will make a list up then, think I can do them £3.50 a pair. They will be posted as Budget Tips for sale and the run number if you want to keep an eye out As mentioned they are meant to be a budget alternative. but I think better than a lot of tips and a good starter before upgrading. They are Hovi casts. I used 2 part epoxy glue to glue a flat head screw to the back. When dry I attached a felt pad with a hole drilled, to the inside of the helmet and screwed, its very strong. I wanted to avoid drilling as the back is not that thick due to using a proper hovi and a 1 piece mould. A screw could be added inside but I would have to drill the hole before adding the mesh and it looks a bit unsightly, the screw method should hold really well but would be great to hear your views and others. Here they are in one of my lids. All the best graham
  2. Hi all, Can anyone point me in the direction of a good mesh for the tips. I have previously used a sieve but it is hard to cut circular and frays. Close to orignal size, if known would be appreciated and obviously silver. Any trail would be great as I am sure something close must have been found, ideally if it is soldered it would be easier to cut. I thank you very much in advance Happy new year Graham
  3. Sold most of my Boba and will not be replaced until 2012 HOWEVER Go full sandy with AP helmet and with weathering Build or at least start my ANH TK from my new TM Finish my new, soon to arrive Royal Guard. Up grade my vader with all the extra little bits I mean to put on and have collected but never got round to doing. Start my half Vader Reveal upgrade Looks a lot already :-) Happy New Year Gra
  4. Hi mate IPA is definately the safests, its 99.9% alcohol. PM me you address and I will post the tips straight away You can PP me when you get them All the best Gra
  5. Hi The screws and paint will come off with screen wash, cheap bottle at Halfords for £5 and soak them. Failing that you can strip the screws in paint stripper and alchol IPA will definately remove all paint, I did it recently. You can get it from boots or here http://www.shinyhardware.co.uk/prods/search.asp?searchBox=isopropanol IPA will not harm any plastic but do not get the paint stripper near to the plastic (only use on screws). I did a run of hollow tips on Xmas eve and although I haven't posted them yet i will be selling some as painted and primed. They come from 1 piece moulds and so I only hand to compromise with the inner rim. You can have a set unpainted now for £2.50 inclu postage if you like. When I get them painted I will do them in CHEAP, small runs, the idea that people can add their own mesh, I use a cheap sieve from the market and not have to spend a fortune to get ok tips. Regards
  6. Hi all I finally managed to combine my full time job with my hobby. I have collected over many years but due to my work I have never seen it worn (Vader). A recent concert I brought out my vader, worn by one of my guys and I trooped. I know I left ofF the knees but it was more what we did. RM Band CTCRM Regards G
  7. Hi My gripe is publicly showing costs after I was told 1 Told this was the last helmet 2 Not to publicly state price, wonder why! 3 Looking at it, I paid for something that it is not I have posted on FISD so will not repeat what is on there. I have owned Fallano, SDS, AP, TE and TM I wanted an TE so contacted Matt direct, as for at least I own one, well my full TM was cheaper and is brilliant. That is my gripe. Now to see the man doing what he does and glossing over price it grips me BIG time, as i am sure it does others. Regards Gra
  8. After seeing how openly the cheapness of products used are shown I am really really gutted, and feel sorry for us who have paid so much. I have my TM and now will never ever buy another TE He should have shown but kept prices quiet. No wonder I live so humble. Also nice to see how much respect he shows to our goods. See how he extracts the dome. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  9. Hi all http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=13697&st=0 PLEASE FOLLOW LINKS TO THIS ON YOUTUBE This was my initial ad still stands somewhat. Having owned a TE HDPE and dealing with Matt I must say i have had no problems. I do realise that there has been some issues in the past and thought this was very very gracious of Matt if this is indeed TE. Is this TE ? Apologies if I am behind the times but I have not been on for a while and just wanted to ask and thank the guy who is showing me vac basics. Now I am very very angry, please read below. Thank god for TM. I didn't realise my £700 TE HDPE helmet was made so easily :-)-bought directly from Matt as he told me he wouldn't be making anymore. Sold recently for a lot less to a great guy in Austria. That is not a moan as it was my choice but it is interesting to see. I really really do appreciate this, good to see Thanks again regards gra
  10. :-) thats why I love this forum, we are all after the same afterall Best wishes Rick and hope you didn't mind my input. Regards from the UK :-)
  11. Yes, it will matt the armour down but will also scratch it, the finest wet and dry paper will also matt the armour, with no damage, after the paint has been removed. Weathering is about how it is applied and illusion, not just battering the thing IMOA There is also always a way back with my suggestions, but only suggestions and we all have our preferences
  12. OVEN CLEANER-HONEST I am a modeller and we use it all the time as it does not scratch or affect the plastic. The secret is to use the fumes-BE CAREFULL AND WEAR A MASK Wear a mask and place the pieces in a plastic bag(garbage bag) Spray the cleaner on and seal the bag in a knot and leave for an hour or so. When you go back all you need to do is rinse in clean water.(WITH A MASK) This stuff cleans car primer, water based and oil based paints with no damage, you may have to rub a little. Use the best cleaner, in UK Mr Muscle is great as cheaper ones do not seem to have the same qualities. Please do not scotchbrite, it will scratch big time gra
  13. I couldn't believe this. I am not a football fan and do not want to start a debate but I have seen so many pubs and shops ofering free flags. well I got a couple the other night, not as a supporter but from beer, the pole that fixes it to the car is perfect T Track I rushed this to show and used a hot knife to cut the unwanted bit off, i asked kindly and my local is giving me a few more.#bonus is they are that long they are good for MG34 too. well have a look. UK guys, certainly grab these
  14. I fully agree with this. I am happy to disclose that Matt sold me a helmet 70*GBP with a promise that it would be signed and his last one. I am lucky that I got the helmet. NO SIGNATURE. LAST ONE ????? As a humble guy who works hard that is more than my months expenditure as I am sure many people hev spent. I spend what I save and can afford and with all my bills and mortgage paid. The point is I did not get the real deal and I feel so sorry for guys that have never seen the goods. Please do not think my lack of posts shows any lack of knowledge as I have studied and watched these forums for a long time. As TM said, this is not the way to get back at Matt, the best way we can help our people is by advis, advise, advise, I DO RESPECT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE, especially as I now see the man in the pics :-)s As a service person we often see people enthralled and talking a lot about what they can never be :-) Regards Gra
  15. Hi all and Darth Voorhess I thought they DID have shoulder straps. White canvas. I maybe wrong though. Cheers John, speak soon Gra
  16. Hi John, Great vid, I never thought of the thighs before boots as mine are loose at the back, will try that, if I can bend over. Real great tutorial on Back Pack, I am going dirty soon, can you PM me more of your your system or email graandcath@hotmail.co.uk Also like the lack of shoulder starps as seems to make things easier, not canon I know but with the pauldron looks fine for most troops. Love it and all the best from the UK Kindest regards Gra
  17. IF TM MADE LAGER..... It would probably be the best in the world :-) Seriously I think his armour may just be. Firstly my thanks to Paul on his patience while I got funds together and for such a speedy delvery and being an absoulte gent with his correspondance and service. I cannot say how pleased I am to own this armour, I have owned a few in the past but this is SUPERB, it cries quality the minute you see it for real. Cleanforms, amazing detail and a nice guy who happily offers advice. People like this are why I joined the forums. Well here are the pics. I really want to make as best a job as I can on this so please, anyone with TM experience, could you please help on a few comments at the bottom, mainly tools really. I am making a list of all I need and I am gradually saving reference pages from here and other forums for reference and pics that will help on the build. Any advice very much welcome. 1. What is the best tool to trim with rather than a blade, I am UK but have seen snips used, can anyone advise on the best 2. I see snaps and rivets used for screen acurracy, again UK if possible can someone point me in the right direction of make and model, where from if possible. 3. Where can I onbtain a good canvas belt. 4. Where best to get earth magnets and what size, how many. 5. Any other tips. Helmet will be handpainted ad I will use E6000 throughout Thnakyou THANKS AGAIN PAUL> Enjoy and if you get 1 set of armour in a lifetime, I say TM all the way :-) Best wishes Gra
  18. Hi all Took a lot longer than I thought but here is my finished e11. hasbro with lots of conversion and scratchbuilds, sights, counter etc I really tried to get that underlying metal effect showing through, no dry brushing. Hard to see in pics but the black has a polished effect, it is just polished and looks better than varnish or satin IMO. Please comment Regards
  19. Hi all, As promoised the continuing upgrades, this was up my sleeve but real gutted not many replies before. Please look for other details as previous threads. Here is how I did it, PM anytime if you like, all scratch Hollow end aas all plastic, print numbers, I messed up as I ran out of ink and printed yellows at the local store, i painted on top the white and cut in strips good as number as any ! the surround is now plastic card glued and edges filled and clear perspex on top, be careful now, only edges glued. All edges sanded, masked and primed THE END If anyone can post the correct font it would be better. Am happy to post scales and plans if interested on my build hope it helps Graa
  20. Hi all, I was intending on keeping this until it was finished but gradually things took longer as on every turn I seemed to add more, to what was going to be a simple upgrade. Please, this is not supposed to be a scale replica, more something for trooping that looks more than just a toy, and in the end no matter what it IS a toy and for a replica scratch build is the way IMO. This was actually the first item I bought, before I had internet access, about 1996, and before I ever thought I would be able to own my own armour. Something quite influential then ;-) It’s my old painted blaster I did years ago, I bought some castings to upgrade but they were very very poor. I must have bought copies, unknowingly I must add, as I have heard nothing but praise for the guy who does the proper items. It shows you get what you pay for. Please look all the way as believe me after the prime it all looks A LOT BETTER Well here are the pics I built the counter from scratch using plastic, abs and a couple of screws, I plan to add the counter numbers at the rear, for visual only of course Weapon has been cleaned of all seams and new magazine when finished, lot of work on the housing. Sights are now shorter and have glass(plastic) they will be tinted orange or red with some sort of range indication. And the rails are just plastic strip. I use thinned squadron putty to seal fine seams. And the rails are just plastic strip. I use thinned squadron putty to seal fine seams. I think you can see any other mods, in primer now, screws, plastic rod etc (folded butt not added yet). There is a fantastic upgrade of a real blaster on MEPD by TD-1549 and I have used his pics as reference to make this toy as close I can. The primer is only for me to finally see what I need to clean up. The original brass bits will be brass and the rest black over silver, matt. Some tweaks and I will post more. A comapre of what the cast was to my plastic thing(mine is the grey one) the pic after next... Really hope you like, please if you like or dislike comment, nothing more disheartening than loads of looks and no response When done I have decided to sell with my armour in the hope I can get another TK kit. When I sell it (with my armour) I may sell it weathered or offer the choice, any views. Best wishes and thanks to TD-1549, I live in Devon and maybe I will get chance to see the real deal some time (hint mate if your listening ) PS I am in Her Majesty’s finest ‘PER MARE PER TERRAM’, I have no association with any alchohol company, I just have the glasses 
  21. Hi all, THANKYOU for all the comments on my armour. I really have no idea of the origin and as I mentioned I wanted advice on the best presentation. I did know the differences , TD/TK,but I wanted to show there can be some play with armour before it is too late I hope you do not mind seeing the compare pics of my lids L-R TE HDPE, AP, SDS (kit-I made and painted), it’s the same as in my previous forums and I will be selling the armour soon, with lid, blaster, TK etc. WHY, because I want a TM and I LOVE building. One last thing, there is a secret in the last IMG]http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp256/Gra30/P1010317.jpg[/img] Best wishes to you all
