  1. No, shims were not needed. I found the AP armor to have lots of room in the legs and shins. I in fact had to cut them down to make them fit properly. I have an athletic build not the super thin build of the original actors. I would say the AP shoulders can be a problem, they are no where near as big as the FX bells. I needed to heat my bells up and expand them a bit on the AP. I can't do the clam shell fit either. I wish I could but there is just no way. Hope this helps.
  2. I am just under 6'. Why do you ask?
  3. Thanks for the kind words guys. I will be posting a weathering tutorial in the next day or so to show how I did it.
  4. Oh poo! Yes it is. I had not screwed it down good and bumped it during the photo shoot. I saw that but thought the photo showed the armor good so I put it up here anyway.
  5. I am still waiting for my Hyperfirm MG 34 to arrive to be able to deploy but wanted to share some photos of my armor.
  6. The more we all look at the pack the more things we notice. The photos seem to show a flush mounted dish. I had left mine on as well Mike but will be fixing it. Nice work Troopers.
  7. Hey Mike! Who took your avatar? They replaced it with some dude with glasses.
  8. I know what your saying Mike. I built my AP then looked at the legs and even though they were FAR! smaller then FX armor they still could be smaller. So I took them apart and cut a considerable bit from the legs. They fit perfectly now but as you said whats the point in strips.
  9. My bad it seems this has been briefly touched on. Feel free to give your thoughts on the issue though.
  10. What are your thoughts on this guys?
  11. I still feel the Tupperware is the right part. For 2 reasons. 1. Visually I am seeing one thing and you another. But thats just where opinion comes in. I think it is on the money. 2. We know that Tupperware was used on the packs. The box (you can see the logo) and almost certainly the solar dish. It makes since that something so readily available in the 70's as the stacker was used since they were already going the Tupperware route. I will post side by side photos of the stacker on a pack in black and white close up same quality as the screen grab we have later today. That way we can compare them. Don't worry I am not going to curse at you Mike as some have done with each other on the forums. Lets call it agree to disagree. Even if I dont agree with you about this I still think your awesome! Ross
  12. I think its easy for us to get caught up in how this guy or that guy does it. Really folks at the end of the day you have to be happy with your own props. It really does not matter what Braks or TE thinks. That is not a knock at you guys you are very talented as is Mike and Seth and lots of other Troopers here. But everone has the right to do there own thing and be happy about it. No one has the know all see all opinion or is God when it comes to props
  13. Since the original packs are gone how will anyone ever PROVE beyond a shadow of a doubt what is what??? All anyone can do is build there best screen accurate looking packs and thats it. I personally think the part is so close that I would not change it even if someone came up with another. Whats the point you cant prove one is right and the other wrong.
  14. It is the spray version of Plasti-Dip. I did my entire pack with this. It gives a great feel to your props its paintable and takes away that Im just painted plastic look. Make sure you put it on raw plastic its very paintable but will bubble if you put it over paint or primer. For Luke
  15. The interior has been rubberized its not black paint. The eye seals are automotive rubber from Lowes or Home Depot, they have an adhesive back. I was trying to duplicate a "real" Trooper helmet eye seals from the Star Wars Visual Guide. The liner is from Vega http://motorcyclehelmets.net/yvs500/shopexd.asp?id=73 It is super comfortable and your bucket will fit snug and stay with your head with every move. I find the hard hat liners do not do this as well. The trim is from the UK item SWR150 (Thanks Luke) http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/bbCMS/shoppin...tDepartmentId=4 The aerators are stock AP but I added a thread adaptor to the inside. This screws into the stock AP aerators for a bit more beefy look on the inside as well as locking the aerators in place but at anytime can be unscrewed. The mouth screen is rubber black shelf liner. I wanted something that had the same results as screen but no one would look inside your bucket and say "Oh that's a piece of screen" Glad you guys like it.
  16. Thanks guys. Clutch I will fix that, thanks for pointing it out. I never paid attention until now. Ross
  17. Here are a few pics of my new AP helmet.
