  1. So that particular pouch on the right is rare? Wow....I really lucked out then. There's a surplus store in Virginia that has WW2 items. I snatched up that style of pouch (with the tapered flaps) for about $78.00 from them? When I went back online to check the pouches on people's sites to compare, they were showing the ones with squared off flaps and I thought I got the wrong type, . Glad I read this thread then.
  2. What's the drying time on the Plastic Fusion? Is that it's brand name? Who makes it?
  3. Cool. I noticed you have a flask in there? You on the sauce while patrolling? lol "I'm TD-7708.. Oh a TD? So you're a Sandtrooper? What? Oh no, son. That just means I'm Too Drunk cuz I've taken 7,708 drinks since I signed up." *Drumroll*
  4. Wait a sec.....that's Maryland! **** I'm slow, lol. Sorry. I live around the DC, MD area. I really should sign up with the 501st and the local garrison one day. As of now, I'm just a unattached trooper. On a side note, during Halloween I went to work with armor. When I got hungry I went to Subway. Walked the streets of DC like that. Was fun. Had someone with me to help pay for the stuff since I couldn't reach my money. But was very fun with all the looks.
  5. You know, if you're going to Photoshop the background, you could keep that kid behind you on your left and just dress him up like a Jawa.
  6. Thanks for the help, everyone. I've decided to go with the RT just for cost's sake. On a side note, some dude on ebay bid 3 times on the helmet I was going for and knocked my bid up 50 dollars. Then the same guy went and bid on the other RT mod auctions that were available. I guess he realised there were more than one auctions and they were available... But man...I wish some people would look before leaping, LOL. Ah well....at least I'll be getting a prettier bucket. Well...once the auction ends anyway.
  7. Same here. Wasn't trying to call out anyone.
  8. lol ok so I wasn't the only one who thought that as well? I didn't want to say anything because..well...whenever I try to "read between the lines" turns out I find myself illiterate and reading wrongly.
  9. I'm still pretty new around here but read up on the TE brand and was hoping to one day purchase one. I'm sure I will once everything is settled. But sounds like the politics of the armor world took a toll which is sad to hear since this is supposed to be a fun and relaxing hobby for us all. Hope things turn out well for you though and you get the chance to relax.
  10. Hope someone there taped it. Would love to see some clips. Looks like they had some good fun.
  11. They were with TM Revolution (J-rock band that's done songs for Kenshin and Gundam, for you anime fans out there) in some sort of performance. http://www.japanstarwars.com/main/data/2006/01/02.html I don't know if this was for a concert or music video but whatever it is...that's pretty **** cool. Any one know what this was?
  12. Ah ok, I didn't know that. Learn something new everyday. I'll remember that. As for waiting, I'd have to save up anyway. I'm working on a Jango and Boba Fett costume at the moments. So updating my Stormtrooper bucket will be fine with me at this point. Thanks again.
  13. The RT mod seems to be the same in regards to the chin pieces. There seems to be a vinyl sticker to place on it rather than painting so I guess that's another plus for it. Here's three pics of the RT-mod one: The guys said he's trim at no extra charge* And here's some pics of the authenticprops one: I'd have to trim this one myself. Hope I'm not violating any rule by posting these. If I am let me know and I'll remove the images. Edit by TD6025: removed hotlinked pics. Sorry.
  14. Hey everyone, need help in deciding which bucket kit to get. I was originally saving up for a TE kit but since fate has taken a detour for him I've decided to just update my bucket instead of replacing my armor. My choices are either one from Authenticprops. Or an RT-Mod ANH kit from trooper721 on Ebay. Is anyone familiar with Trooper721? The best advantage with gonig with the RT one on ebay is that I could potentially save money. They both seem like good enough helmets. A step above my FX one, at least. The only drawback is that the RT mod doesn't come with a green lens sheet like the one through Authenticprops and that I'm not really familiar on how good it is. But I had ordered 2 green face sheilds since I'm working on my Boba Fett helmet right now so the green lens won't be an issue really. Plus the Authenticprops one has some small details that the RT mod doesn't have but it's pretty minor IMO. The plus side with the RT is that the guy is saying he'd trim the eyes and mouth section at no extra cost and the aerators mics are hovi-mix tip type. The RT Mod is a five piece kit (not including the aerators, trim, and lining). The Authentic props is four pieces. I'm sort of leaning towards the RT mod just because I could possibly save money but wanted to get opinions here first. I don't mind spending more for the Authentic props if people think that one looks better though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  15. I don't have a good digital camera (actually I don't think I have any camera anymore, lol) to take pics so I'll just describe my bucket as "organized clutter". Actually I just got the set up that was described in the Skullworks site since I ordered from there. Although the volume control tends to make it hard for me to adjust the volume since the way it's wired limits it's position.
  16. Wow, I never knew there were so much politics when it came to trooper armor.
  17. I'm in a similar position although I knew what I was getting when I bought my FX armor. I went for the more affordable. It sort of worked out though because it gave me experience with putting armor together. I want to eventually own a TE kit (once TE starts selling them again, hopefully) and I know I'll have the patience to assemble it with less chances of messing up. I'm saving up for the day he'll start selling again.
  18. lol true. I'm talking squeaky clean white as opposed to a nice shiney mud color.
  19. I was putting my armor in storage the other day when I noticed my boots were scuffed up a little. I wanted to clean them but realized I didn't know what to use. I have the boots from http://caboots.com/ like a lot of people but never got around to learning how to clean them properly. What products should I use to take care of these?
  20. You know, if you modified it some more, this could be good for a Clone Trooper pouldron.
  21. I hope I didn't come across sounding condescending or rude. It was not my intention, and your ideas are completely legitimate. I guess my beef is that personally I will never be a "screen-accurate" TK/TD due to the fact that I am a good 5 inches taller than most of them. Therefore I am pursuing a set of armor (custom chest and helmet, supplimented with FX extremity pieces), and once I am done weathering and beating upon it, hopefully the little differences will not be so significant. Either way I know I will be a passable trooper, just from a clone vat that got a little too much growth serum or something. Keep a journal of your progress on your new suit I know I would love to see how one of those comes together!! Nah, don't worry about it. I didin't see you coming off as condescending or rude, so no worries here. As for "screen-accurate" I don't mean to go fully accurate, like height or weight. ****, I don't even know the correct height for a ST and if there were a required weight, I'd be over it , lol. I just want the armor set itself to be as screen accurate as possible. Or close enough actually.
  22. Hey thanks for the welcome, TK-2581. I'll defenitely look around the site more and read up. I think I am leading towards the TE kit. What does impress me about the Authenticprops one though is that it looks like it comes with items to convert from Storm to Sandtrooper (ab plate specifically) as part of the kit. Although I'd have to ask to confirm that. I could be very wrong so no one quote me on that, lol. I'll look around more here though. Need to do a price comparison before I commit to buying. Well...I'm still saving up anyway so I wouldn't be buying right away. hhuggins: Thanks! If I do end up getting the armor you have I'll keep your site in mind about the trim. Good to have referrences and resources to go to. And did your kit come with the Sandtrooper ab plate to switch off from Storm to Sand? I thought I saw that as part of the kit. IanL: I'm not scrapping my current armor. I love it if only for the fact that it's my first set. So even if I've only had it for a few months, it's still very sentimental to me. It's just that after looking at dozens of photos then reading up (some more) on the other kits and finally seeing the differences (I couldn't really appreciate the differences until I had my own set to fully realize it) that I started to get the itch for another, more accurate, set. Since I still have a lot of my materials left over, plus some extra stuff that I didn't actually need, I'm sure I'll be spending relatively less than what I had spent when I was putting FX set together.
  23. Hi everyone, I'm pretty much new to the board but not in the armor department. I have mostly been browsing around here and there. I already have, and completed, my FX kit last month. Walked around my office during Halloween and walked the streets of my city to a Subway sandwiches for some eats. Was good. Had many laughs and smiles through out the day. I was hot as ****. But it was worth it. Anyway, I got the FX kit because it's the cheapest. I thought I would be fine with an inaccurate armor piece. But after having finished and using mine, something stirred inside me. Part of it was the Subway sandwich. But the other part was my mind making itself up and deciding, "dammit...I want some accurate armor". What also contributed to this was that I had also ordered an orange pouldron. When I put it on I knew I wanted to have a set of Sandtrooper gear. So I looked around and I've found something from Authenticprops. But I've also noticed a lot of people have the TE kits. I want to know which is better to have? And where can I order the TE kits? I know it's more involving of all the kits but I'm not afraid of that. But I would like to figure out which is the better kit to get. The TE or the one from Authenticprops. Any help would be appreciated. And I apologize for the long post just to get to my question, .
