  1. It looks like powder. When mine came in I thought it was some sort of protein drink mixture that I had some how ordered. I ordered mine online because I wasn't sure on the availability near me. There were shops I could check out but I honestly didn't feel like driving around. http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/davin/replica_weathering.htm I ordered the stuff that Braksbuddy listed. I'm now waiting on my paint to come in.
  2. Oh hold on. You said "CA glue". How easy is that to work with? Can you remove the lenses easily if you need to? How strong is the hold? Will it damage the helmet where it's connected to if you try to pull the lenses out?
  3. Yep, I'm completing my RT-Mod helmet which is going to be used for my Sandy costume. The reason I want to use the Epoxy is because of the detailing I'm going to be doing to the interior of the bucket. Originally I was going to use a type of insulation that was in my ebay bought DP 95 Boba Fett helmet. It's a gray firm foam material which I have not been able to locate in auto stores or the Home Depot near me although the guy I bought it from said it was in Home Depot. Anyway, I was planning on wrapping my lenses around this foam to secure it to the eye sockets. Works great too, but since I kept adjusting it the adhesive isn't as "fresh" as it could be. So instead, I want to try using the epoxy to hold it in place and then using the foam to reinforce/decorate. Once it's done, it would look sort of like the helmet interior you see in the Visual Dictionary. As for using hot glue, I use that in my current FX bucket but I was reading on some guys site how his lenses popped out during a hot day of trooping down in Florida. Here in Maryland it gets hotter than crotch since it's so humid during the summer so I want to move away from the glue. I'm planning on deputing my Sandy costume at Otakon (an anime convention) which will be in August. I'd like to go to Farpoint but I don't think I'll have things finished by then.
  4. Hi all. Need some help identifying the poxy that TK409 uses on his bucket. In this case it's his Boba Fett bucket. He mentions a two part epoxy but not the specific name or brand. http://www.tk409.com/images/fett/helmet/visor.jpg Anyone know which kind he's talking about or can recommend one? I don't want to pick out the wrong type and have some sort of health hazard happen. With my luck I could get led poisoning from the sun. I may sound like I'm exaggerating but I've managed to sprain my ankle while sleeping so...yeah.
  5. And just in case you needed to find the thread again, it's: http://www.sandtrooper.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46 I think if they, the guys and sci-fire, convert that pouldron to a clone pouldron then they'd have a winner on their hands.
  6. So what did he pop you for rob? Driving your bantha while intoxicated? Posesion of a firearm while drunk? Come on how long did it take before you just set your blaster to stun and escaped? Seriously though, I love that picture. Their is another one on the web somewhere of another guy getting patted down by the cops(I think it was at C3 but could swear to it). PS. It just me or does it look like he sticking his hand...oh nevermind That's what I thought too. And he looked happy doing it.
  7. Speaking of phishing, how exactly do you report it to ebay or to an agency? Do you just provide the email address and the supposed user name? Are you supposed to forward the email you got? I've never actually found out what steps you are supposed to take other than not clicking on the links. I've had to change my checking account because someone got access to it. Luckily only $200 was only used but still, sucked like ****. But anyway, that does raise a flag if you're getting a notice that you "mutally agreed" when you know in fact you never had communication like that. IMO.
  8. As promised... Is........is that a rewrapped York Peppermint Patty?
  9. Just an FYI, but the Hyperdyne has the "talk to activate" feature also. HH Then I change my stance to: I went with the Rom/fx for the "ready to use out of the box" accessability.
  10. Then stay away from clones. Stay far, far away. Unless you have a very large amount of either unrestricted free time, or unrestricted cash. Ask me how I know Too late. I've already bought a helmet a couple of weeks ago. Really nice looking one too. Just waiting for it to come in the mail. Fortunately, that's all I've bought. I almost bought some armor but some other things popped up in my way such as hunger and the obligatory bills. So I'll gladly just have to wait a few more months before I go for the clone. Unless I try making my own. But I don't see that happening in the near future.
  11. After consideration, I have went with the Rom/fx. I like the feature of being able to "talk to activate". Plus the less use of batteries, as it seems.. Man I need a higher paying job to keep up with my spending habits, lol.

    help!

I think I may have figured out a new and more simpler method while test fitting my RT-Mod helmet since it's much smaller. Either rotate your head 90 degrees to the right or left, or rotate the helmet instead, lower the hlemt onto your head, and then and then rotate back so you can see out the holes, lol. Try it out and see if that works.
  13. For either of these boards, can you mod them so the sound comes out of aerator speakers or does it have to come out of the amp? I think I may lean towards the RomFX one as well.
  14. Has anyone here used the Trooper voice amps from hyperdyne labs? The samples sound nice but I want to get different input from here before I throw down the money for one of their boards. Thanks.

    help!

Hope I can explain this with good enough description to visuals. The way I have to put on my FX with my glasses is to tilt the helmet forward at a 45 degree angle, place part of my head inside face first making sure my eyes and glasses are now resting on the inside of the bottom trim. From there slide the helmet down while keeping the 45 degree angle. Your nose may get squished a little. Once you see that you are coming close to the lenses (of your bucket), pus the back of your helmet forward against the back of your head. This is so your glasses frame won't catch the bottom of your helmet's lenses. Once you think your frames can clear the lenses, just adjust the helmet down onto your head. This is provided you don't have a large head to begin with. In which case....this may be more tirckier. But I hope that helps.

    help!

I wear glasses and I didn't adjust my liner to compensate for the extra space needed in order to wear my bucket but that was because I made a mistake and didn't think ahead or follow suggestions to do so. Never the less, I can wear it even with my glasses. Currenty I'm using an FX helmet but I'm getting a new RT Mod soon. But anyway, how I had to put my helmet on was kind of tricky. It was all in the angle of entry. I have to dig out my helmet later though since I'm about to go to bed but tomorrow I'll post up on how I have to put it on. But basically it's all about sliding in at an angle.
  17. That's a sweet ammo pouch... but $67 is a lot of Republic Credits!! Considering I bought mine for $78, he got a pretty good deal. On a side note I was considering putting my Stolla Wien up on Ebay till I read this topic, lol. Glad I didn't.
  18. Glad I could help. Glad you were able to win it. I knew it could not have been a repro, lol. Talk about good set of circumstances.
  19. Thanks guys. I ended up going with http://www.trooperdecals.com/. But thanks, avatar_man, for that other link. I may have to try that method one day. Never know when that could come in handy. Plus it's always good to "do it yourself". Well....sometimes it's good depending on how accident prone you are, but I digress.
  20. Hi all, Within the next two weeks I'll be getting my new RT Mod bucket. I was wondering though if anyone knows a good source to get Sandtrooper vinyl decals other than FJ Harris? Are there other sources to go to directly? I've ordered from him before but I never received my decals and he never responded back to my emails last year. It was during September but not during the hurricanes. So now I'm just wondering if there's another place to go? Or is painting what most TD's do? If so, what's the recommended paint type/brand and color?
  21. Sweet thanks, I think I'll try to get the CPR one this weekend. Thanks ya'll, for the help.
  22. Cool. Although I'm really starting to think this is mold instead of dust, lol. Oh God I rubbed it on my leg...
  23. So wiping that sucker with soap and water, maybe some alcohol, and laying a silicone package near it isn't necessary? To remove mold I mean.
  24. Hi all, Just got some pouches exactly like the one's TK409 sells. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... otohosting[/url] They look like the ones in the link except they are kind of a biege...tanish...brown...ish...color. They're French ammo pouches, maybe? I'm not too knowledgable on these sort of things so forgive my ignorance. http://i24.ebayimg.com/02/i/06/15/11/b6_1_b.JPG Got two of them actually off of ebay. I'm planning to dye them of course but I need to clean them first because they're dirty. I'm guessing it's dust...but since it's leather and...old....I wouldnt' be surprised if it were mold... I mean....only a small part on one of the pouches looks moldy and dingey. I know I'm going to need to dirty them up anyway, but I'd rather not use real dirt for this, lol. Realism is great for looks. But using real dinge is...well...that's just plain nasty. Plus I'd rather stay healthy while wearing my armor. I have no clue about cleaning leather. Is it okay to use soap and wather and go buck wild on this? Or do I have to do it a certain way?
