  1. The original actors for the Sandy's had long hair. So think of it as an unintended "behind the scenes" screen accurate look.
  2. Yeah that helmet was just sweet lookin. ****, all four of the buckets sitting on the table were great looking too, lol. But that was definitely a nice lookin bucket indeed. He looked really happy with the gift. Glad I was there to be part of the festivities. Was also cool meeting you, Seth. Did the video turn out okay? Not too much camera shaking, I hope. Also, sorry about a couple of the jump/skipping shots. Mostly though I was a little concerned about the sound. I wasn't sure if the mic picked up Albin's voice.
  3. Wohoo, I'd post up pics.......but I only have one with Corin Nemec and a very blury pictures of Amanda Tapping. Oh wait, I have pics of the TE2 that was given to Albin, but you got those covered already. Seth, I hope the video turned out alright. You might get one or two scene jumps and not the best steady hand but I tried to keep it close. I'm a little bit concerned about the audio since it was pretty noisy in the bar and I wasn't standing very close. Oh, and if you're camera picked up that conversation about soccer, that was Phil.
  4. Baxter made trays that looked to be similar color. I think they're a medical supply company. We have a Baxter tray at my place. I think my mother had gotten it a while back. She's a nurse. She's worked in several different hospitals so that would be my guess as to another possible idea about the boxes.
  5. Oh my RomFX works fine out of the box. I'm just doing a little project with speakers. I'm still up in the air about going to the con this weekend. I mean...****....the fact that Amanda Tapping will be there is just tempting me to no end to just go. Ooooooh keep us aprised. I've been wondering about wireless setups myself. As for the aerators, I'm not trying to fit the speakers in there so I'm not concerned with that.
  6. Update: I thought I had already posted up my update a few days ago. I remember typing it but now it's not here. Anyway, since my last post I have tried rewiring everything and bought a new spool of speaker wire. Turns out what was going wrong was the wire I had previously. Not sure why really. Oh, and daisy chaining was definitely the way to do this with the mini speakers. Connecting them the other way just ended up having my sound board repeat, "Rom FX, Rom FX, Rom FX" every time I tried to talk. That being said I have great news. I finally figured out that this was not a good idea. But, if I had a larger speaker....then I'd be in business. The RomFX speaker, if I could pry it out of it's housing, would be good. But I'd rather not do that. Plus I'd want a smaller speaker. Instead, I have to try to find a place that sells speakers. Possibley a comptuer parts store unless you guys have a better suggestion?
  7. That really is an impressive set. I'm really curious about this new plastic you've mentioned before. It sounds really strong.
  8. Update on the wiring: I totally failed, LOL! I'm not sure what's the problem with the set up but I have a strong feeling it starts at the plug end. I'm fairly confident that connecting the wires from the speakers was fine. I'll try to give it another go today and take some pictures.
  9. That's actually the second part of the helmet liner and padding for a snug fit. It's been a secret for a long time until now.
  10. Questions on minor points of detail: Hoping that I bought the right "F" or phone jack, does it matter how I connect the stereo wires onto the jack? It's a "non soldering" type and the little "nodes" on the inside are staggard so I'm assuming I strip the plastic off the wires a bit, twist each wire onto it's own node (doesn't matter which?), attach the butt nuts...nut butts..... butt connector things, and daisy chain those bad boys? Oh and does it matter the type of speaker wire I should get or it doesn't matter so long as it's "speaker wire" and the smallest size available?
  11. Cool thanks. Wire nuts. A name I shall not forget, lol.
  12. I was thinking I should just keep my board outside my helmet as well. But the headset setup is uncofortable for me. The other thing is, remember when it was starting to drizzle (when we were outside because of the fire alarm) this past weekend? I was worried that if it started to rain I would: 1.) Become clean again and 2.) my Romfx board could get damaged. I want to see if I can manage to not have wires running up and down my armor.
  13. Thanks, freakengine. This is what I've found about the Rom/fx. I still have to find out what the triktoys speaker's ohm is once I get home. How do you go about daisy chaning them? I'm guessing I won't have to do any soldering? Just connecting and twisting and the possible use of those plastic conical cap things that you put over connecting wires?
  14. Hello peeps, could use your help once again. After this past weekend event I have discovered many more modifications I need to do to my armor. My board, mic, and speaker set up is a current hassle to deal with. Mini speakers. As some of you know, I have the Rom/FX board which comes with it's own fine speaker. Some time ago, prior to getting my RT-Mod helmet, I had bought the Triktoys aretor and mini speaker set. Well, it's been sitting in my storage area and now I want to try to see if they'll work. You'll have to excuse my lack of technical terms but I'll try to describe what I'd like help with. My question is if there is a way to take the wires that are already attached to the speakers and connect them to a "jack" so I can plug them into the Rom/FX board? The speakers themselves have a green and red wire attached to them. Would I have to get ( I guess it's called) a jack plug, connect wires to that, then connect the speaker wires to those and then I can just plug it into my board and would work?
  15. Thanks everyone. I went looking for the 33-3013 at Radioshack but I ended up getting the 33-3026 clip-on computer mic. Works just like my old one but has an on and off button. Got it for less than 20 bucks. They were renovating the store so I had to settle on that one because...well...no one could find the other one...matter of fact some of their stock was missing...but turns out the mic was perfect. Thanks again for the help, ya'll.
  16. For those of you that have the RomFX, I lost my mic that came with my kit. I don't know if I lost it during my last event (which I doubt) or just missplaced it some where in my place. Anyway, anyone have a recommendation for a replacement? The mics that come with the kit are the type where you have to have that sucker right up on your lips to activate. I've tried using my headset that came with my Skullworx kit but that's a no go. Screeching noises are involved with that route. For the RomFX system, I think you need a mic that requires you to have lip-to-mic contact. Anybody have any Radioshack leads on that type?
  17. I've used it too. **** good hold.
  18. I'm going to make this quick because I'm really supposed to be doing my work here in the office, lol. If you want to tape the face and back plate together for testing, use splints. Because of how I was modding my FX suit, I had pieces of ABS laying around. Partly from the spare ABS sheet that's included in the kit. You can cut them off of the spare sheet but, like I mentioned, I had bits laying around from my modding. You can also use tongue depressors or popsicle sticks. Just so long as you have something flat. You'll need 4 total about 2 inches in length. For the tape, I think I used Filament tape. The kind that has a whole bunch of lines running along the length. It has a strong and rigid hold which helps prevent the pieces from bursting apart while using the splints, but also has low tack so there's little to no residue when pulling it off after having it sit there for a while. You will be putting the splints on the outside of the helmet. Not the inside. The splints are meant to keep the pieces from "bursting" apart while test fitting. Put your helmet plates together and place one of the splints near the top (on the outer side) across where the two pieces touch and tape it down. Like placing a bandaid on a cut. Go ahead and run a piece of tape from the inside of the helmet over the top and then covering the top splint for a good hold. Don't worry about reinforcing the tape just yet though. Get the second splint and place it to the bottom of the first one right where the helmet starts to curve. That puts them about 3 inches apart from each other. Tape them down. At this point you can start reinforcing the tape for a stronger hold. Reinforce and finish one side first before continuing to the other.
  19. I wasn't quite sure which area to post this but I thought I should let you all know about this since a lot of us use it. I got an email the other day claiming to be from Paypal. It was set up to look like a newsletter concerning the dangers of email spoofing. It had pictures of people who were supposed customers and business users with small articles attached to them. One of them, if you wished to read the rest of the story, had a link for you to click on. I didn't click the link though. Now at no point did this particular email ask you for information. But I did find it odd for some reason. Then I looked at the address which just fueled my suspicions more. The email addy was: paypal @email.paypal.com. (I added a space so it didn't automatically link) For those of you who don't use the service there is no "@email.paypal.com" extension. They just use "@paypal.com" for whatever they send out. So I called up paypal, let them know what I found, sent the email to them to look at, and sure enough they told me it was a spoofing email scam because they said they never ask their customers to click on any link with any of their emails. I think the way it worked was that if you did click on the link it would've asked you to "log in" or something. Not sure since I didn't click it. So watch out for this one. It was pretty subtle, imo.
  20. I know I'm late, but I just wanted to say congratulations as well. Congrats!
  21. I'd like to be called, "Dirty D". Get it? Dirt TD? Dur...TD. Ok ok I'll stop. I just couldn't help myself when it comes to dorky/silly humour.
  22. And one day I hope to afford one of your babies. LOL that sounded so wrong I just HAD to post it.
  23. I'm going to lean towards some sort of photo/film development tray. I get the impression that if it was supposed to be an automotive oil pan, then beading (or the indentations) would be a bit larger. I could be mistaken of course since I don't know much about automotive tools, equipment, etc.
  24. Here's some I came up with. Although they seem more fitting as personal quotes than taglines: -"That's not dirt, that's my service record". Or, "That's not dirt, that's my resume". You can change the "my" to "our" if you want. -"If you haven't gotten dirty, then you haven't done your job". -"God made dirt and dirt don't hurt. That's where we come in". Or to make it more in line with Star Wars "The Maker made dirt and dirt don't hurt. But we do.". The second one sounds cheesy to me though. -"Giving new meaning to the word, 'Sandstorm'". -"We're the reason it's called a, 'Sandstorm'". That's all for now. I'll add more later if I come up with anything else.
  25. One more bit of advice if you haven't started on the bucket yet; If you're going to assemble the helmet before putting the liner in, put the lenses AFTER you've installed the liner. The reason is because, depending on where you cement the brackets that hold the liner in place, the lenses may interfere or at least obstruct the liner when removing or replacing them. For example, on my FX bucket the brackets are right above the lenses. As it turns out, unless I remove the lenses themselves, I cannot remove my linter. Speaking of which, that brings up another point. If you wear glasses I do recommend fashioning some sort of mounts for the brackets, cement them to each other, and then cement that onto the front area of the helmet so that when you put your helmet on your glasses will not be pressed up against your lenses.
