Question on the other pouch
Plastic Fury posted a topic in Pouches, Pauldrons, and other Accessories
I am currently building my pack and realizing I still need to pick up another pouch for the other side of my belt (I wear my holstered E-11 for non-canon events) and am making sure I have the correct pouch in mind. I believe it's the French MAT 49 pouch that is accepted for MEPD deployment?? Like this one; http://www.ima-usa.com/product_info.php/products_id/452 Just want to be sure before I purchase one, Thanks guys. -
Yeah, looks like the same grey drawstrings that I have on my Under Armor legs, I usually just tuck them around my waist.

I know that feeling brother, my thighs look just like yours, I started back on a diet and exercise program for the new year because I want to lose some weight before Star Wars Weekends lol (my goal is MEPD before then, I look forward to meeting some others from this detachment on those weekends). Looking good man, like your weathering, came out nice. I am envious, all I have left is to finish the pack. -
You guys do an amazing job with it. I often forget that many, many people on this forum use English because you guys do such a good job of using it. I myself am trying to learn Spanish at the moment but I am no where near typing it out lol. I will also give thanks to the CS for all the hard work on keeping such a great site going. I have learned so much in my short time here and have met some really good guys, everybody is always so quick to help on the MEPD.

Looks good man, nicely done!!

Looks like he drilled out the ears so he could hear better, since those surround his ears completely. That's pretty sharp, a lot of work went in to that bad boy. I used the padding from a T-Ball helmet, using velcro so it can be removed easily for cleaning. It's painted black inside as well and my lenses are held in with some clear RTV silicone. Fans need to be next for sure.

Looks great man, loving the "used" cistern attachment from your friend, that's great lol.

Refinishing a used ATA bucket from TK to TD....
Plastic Fury replied to Plastic Fury's topic in Sandtrooper Armor
I know shiny and white is not the thing here but I really wanted a good before and after for this bucket. Here are two pics of it as it was finished (at the time). I was just not happy with the sloppiness of some of the details when I got it and it was a really good learning experience. Of course, it was not really finished yet since it was soooo clean. Here it is as it sits now, I know this will be too much for some and I was originally going to keep it real light but after playing around, I like the rugged and dirty look myself. Current condition; Comments or criticisms are always welcome. -
If you have never tried the flat lenses before, I am sure you will like them. The bubble lenses are distorted and I really enjoy looking through my buckets that have the flat lol.

Mounting the shoulder pouch??
Plastic Fury replied to Plastic Fury's topic in Pouches, Pauldrons, and other Accessories
Thanks, I might look into doing it something like how you describe. Anybody else? -
Thats really cool and he sounded like he was really great to meet. Love the signed bucket, you are gonna have to make a new one now and keep that one shelved lol!! Congrats.

I realize that in some troops, the backpack is just going to be too big or awkward and I may not want to use it. We had one last weekend with a TON of children and in pretty tight quarters, I was realizing fast that a pack in that troop, would have been difficult. I plan to attach my shoulder pouch to my pack shoulder strap but what should I do for troops when I don't use the pack?? I have looked around for ideas but it's pretty vague and once again, I was curious what some of you guys have come up with as a solution here. How do you mount your shoulder pouches when you are not using your back pack??? Thanks -Seann

Shoulder strap question
Plastic Fury replied to Plastic Fury's topic in Pouches, Pauldrons, and other Accessories
Yeah, that is my understanding so far, that the canvas/elastic goes UNDER the chest and back piece. I think I will use a snap on one end and velcro on the other in case I need to make a change down the road. I will insert a piece of abs inside the canvas strap and then run both one end snap and the center snap for my shoulder bells. This should keep that nice and firm but still have the look of a soft material. I don't mind looking dumb lol, only way to learn is to ask. -
Shoulder strap question
Plastic Fury replied to Plastic Fury's topic in Pouches, Pauldrons, and other Accessories
Ahh thank you, this is what I have been thinking about doing. I inserted ABS strips into my canvas belt so it would keep shape and I think i'll just do the same for my shoulder straps as well, so the canvas won't be pulled down by the shoulder attachments. I don't mind asking if I don't know, thats the only way you learn (after a good search of course lol). -
Okay, I can't seem to find this anywhere and maybe I did it wrong on my TK or something? On my TK I glued snaps to my ribbed shoulder straps that connect the straps to my shoulder bells. Now using canvas straps (or elastic) how do you now connect your shoulder bells to the soft material straps??? Thanks

Yeah, I get what you guys are saying and thats the same thing I was thinking, to angle it away. Pics would always be nice anyway though, I love to see how others do things

Having an issue with my sniper knee plate. I mounted it flush to the calf and it basically smashes against my knee cap and just below it. It also now tends to go under my thigh, I figured this might happen. With the TK, I have that knee plate angled downward a bit and away from my leg, this keeps it from getting under the thigh and also from hitting my actual knee cap. I am worried that the plate will be broken off from pressure of my leg or being caught? I have been thinking of building a small shim angled so the knee plate will angle down a bit, to bring it away from my knee. Has anybody else run into this issue and if you have, what was your fix?? Thanks

Thats the same exact pouches I bought, they are very easy to dye black, you can see mine HERE I like the look of the 3+1 on the shoulder so that is how I plan to place them, and the other on the belt, on the right side. For the ab conversion, you can try THIS. I ordered a set from him but wound up making my own from scratch anyway.

That is what I have been thinking about doing as well. Using some old FX black ab buttons, painted white and placed there.

Welcome to the MEPD. I am in the same boat, the 31st is the last troop for my waxed, polished and shiny armor, transformation begins on the 1st lol.
