  1. When in doubt . . . get the velcro out! HH
  2. While your there, can you ask if they plan on ever doing anymore MG-34s? Thanks! HH
  3. That's what I was afraid of! Okay, I guess it's foam then . . . Thanks! HH
  4. I should have clarified - this is an Authenticprops ANH helmet. There isn't a lot of room in there. HH
  5. What are your opinions on using a hard hat liner versus foam? I was thinking of making some terry cloth covered foam padding for the inside of my bucket instead of using a hard hat liner. I figured it would be comfortable and look cooler than just the hh liner. Then I read somewhere on another forum that someone did that and complained about the helmet being much hotter. Does anyone have an opinion one way or the other? HH
  6. Thanks for the replies! I guess I'm being too anal. After looking at other helmets on the 'net, I think it'll be fine. Now on to lenses and electronics! HH
  7. Well, I've got my bucket almost complete . . . . . . but I screwed up painting the frown. Despite being incredibly careful with my masking, I ended up with a sloppy mask line and seepage. Is there a good way to fix this? I didn't paint the armor - it is raw ABS, so I can't just respray the frown white. Thanks! HH
  8. I'm interested to find out more about these also. I asked the guy several questions via eBay, but he never responded. His feedback is mixed . . . here are the latest five comments: Good - Fast shipment, workmanship so-so. i would purchase from this seller again. Nuetral - ok Negative - Very poor quality product, not recommended. Negative - poor quality !!!!amateur hour!!!!terrible!!!!!no talent!!!!bad picture!!!!!!
  9. Does everybody paint their armor white before assembly? What is the advantage to painting it versus leaving the bare, white ABS? What paint do you guys recommend? Thanks, HH
  10. Thanks!! I've actually been lurking here for a couple of months, soaking up all the info I could get. This has been a great source of info! HH
  11. Well, I'm in a Catch-22: I can't join the 501st until I have my armor built, and apparently no one in the SoCal garrison will talk with me until I'm in the 501st. I spent several weeks trying to find someone in my area who could give me a hand. I've sent the GML an email, but can't get a reply and I can't post to the SoCal garrsion forums because I'm not a member. I filled out a membership application at the 501st homepage, but I haven't heard anything from anyone about it. Oddly enough, the one response I did get was from the head of a garrison in Virginia. They let me join their Yahoo forum and treat me like a full member. He actually contacted the SoCal GML who told him that I'd have to go through the 501st before he would contact me. Bummer. HH
  12. Wow, I haven't been called a young man for a while . . . Thanks for the quick responses, guys! Now I just need to find something to get me by until next week. HH
  13. Crap! I need to get this helmet done by Halloween. I guess I could leave the trim off until later . . . HH
  14. Hmmm . . . anyone with a non-FX helmet who can jump in? In any case, it sounds like I'm back to Home Depot to find something similar. Sounds like plastic conduit my do the trick. HH
  15. Well then something is wrong, because they are the same material. What is the correct part to use? From looking at pics of other helmets, it looks like a tube-like material with a slit down the middle. HH
  16. After a long wait, my box-o-armor arrived from Authenticprops on Thursday. I've got the helmet almost finished, but I've got a question. The material that was included to cover the edge of the helmet opening is the same as the brow rubber. Is this correct? A test fits seemed kind of funky. Is there anything else that I can use? Thanks! HH
  17. What a great find! That's a cool looking pouch . . . HH
  18. There are two sizes of tubes 25" and 37" - which is the correct length? HH
  19. For those of you using a frame for your pack, what did you use as the base for the frame? Do any of you have problems with the frame scratching up the back plate of your armor? HH
  20. Sweet! Please let everyone know when they are available.
