  1. Beautiful! One day i will own TM armor....one day....
  2. Actually Gra, the Sandtrooper dont have the shoulder straps, so it is canon
  3. Thanks Rolf! Ya know i was thinking of getting another tray and doing that lol. So id just swap out the top outer tray with the different parts on it...i already have an extra wet ones bottle heh.
  4. yea, its understandable for tight quarters troops not to wear it. Personally i love it and its lighter than my Fett Jetpack so i can keep it on all day lol!
  5. thanks everyone! Yes i do No'l ..greeting card box i think it was right? heh Im gonna try and fabricate a box to replace it with. But right now i have to build up my Cushman T-21 and finish the armor! i want this bad boy ready soon..its gotta have a couple of test runs before CV!
  6. hey all, i was just curious how many TD's out there frequently troop without their field packs? Seems a few people in my garrison find them annoying and only really use the packs for canon events. My personal opinion is that the pack makes half the costume and i dont see much point in being a sandy if your not going to use the pack most of the time. Of course everyone is entitled to the off day when they dont wanna be bothered with it, but i mean in general i feel the pack makes the suit. What do you guys do? DISCLAIMER: there is no wrong answer here to each their own, just curious what other TD's are doing
  7. yea..i know, i will replace that box. Money is tight and i couldn't afford to get the toolbox (and i wanted the slightly larger seed trays also) from Crashmann. I had bought the stow and go way long ago and since i still had it, i figured id use it as a "place holder" till i can get a toolbox. I may see if i can get more plastic and make one like i did for the radio though. That worked better than i thought it would lol. My whole suit is going to be heavily influenced by the classic "move along" trooper. That was the first trooper that made an impression on me when i was 6 and seeing Star Wars in the theater. Come to think of it, Star Wars may have been the first movie i saw in a theater! I actually asked if having the stow n go would hinder deployment and the bossman said no, so im not worried too much about it at the moment!
  8. So ive been working on this pack for the last few weeks on and off, and am getting close to finishing it. It is built on a pvc pipe frame (from Scooch's tutorial)and with the park seed trays painted with Krylon flat black, and with Rustoleum Satin Lake Blue. Its sporting Gordonator's cistern modded with added tupperware hamburger stackers. The tool box is a tupperware stow-n-go. The faucet cover, exhaust port box, and mushroom caps are from Crashmann. The top bottle is a tapered wet ones bottle and the bottom one is an untapered staples computer monitor wipes bottle, both also painted with the Rustoleum Satin Lake Blue. The radio is a box i made from sheet plastic with a resin faceplate i was working on. the small knobs are water bottle caps and the large one is a vitamin water cap with a make-up jar cap on top of it. Just needs the "shells" on the top right the electrical tape on the bottom trays, the mortar tube, and DIRT! lol What do you guys think so far?
  9. ooooooh boy! this is exciting! lol
  10. Ok, i think i got it to work... Acetone did nothing, so dont bother with that lol. Buti sanded it all over with 180grit sand paper and then with 400. then i primed it and wet sanded it with 400wet dry sandpaper and re-primed. Looks like its sticking
  11. Thanks guys... i did sand it but it was a quick sand, maybe i need to sand it more. I do think it probably is a petroleum based plastic. As soon as i saw it i was like..hm,this may be a challenge to paint. i can strip it down with acetone, maybe that in itself will help. And i'll use the krylon fusion for plastics. see how that works out. thanks again guys!
  12. So i got one of gordons cisterns, its awesome, but i cant seem to get paint to stick to it. the slightest little bump and the paint comes off. Anyone have one of these and manage to get the paint to stick? ive tried primer, and clear sealer, nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas?
  13. Looks freakin great John! I justgot my lake blue paintyesterday and painted my trays/bottles. I SHOULD have my crashmann mushroom caps and exhaust port box today. Gonna work on my pack a bit this weekend, and maybe put together the other thigh on my armor LOL
  14. Awesome, thanks for confirming N'ol...just wanted to be sure heh,yea i guess mine will be closer than to accurate than your old pack..oh, Your new pack is awesome!
  15. Thanks Mike...thats what i figured, but i just want to be sure...not that i couldnt troop the TD if it wasnt deployed.....buuuuuut im all kinds of a sticklyer for details lol.
  16. Sweet! i love that you make alot of the stuff from found items, ive done that many times with things. Looks great! Love the "filter"!
  17. So i want my pack to replicate the move along pack. But right now cash is a little tight and i cant buy everything i need all at once. I want this sandy done and deployed before CV as i plan to bring it with me. So my question is, if my pack is slightly off from a screen accurate one, will it affect my deployment? Basically ill be using the park seed trays instead of the MC or Crashmann ones, and ill use the stow n go instead of the tool box on the top left. I will change them out for a crashmann tool box and trays a little down the line, and one of the zenix/crashmann radios as well...but i just want to make sure it will not affect my deployment. thanks troopers!
  18. Holy sandtrooper radio batman! I want i want! Put me down for one whenever they are ready!!
  19. TD-6908 and my girl, IC-2891 will be there! We also got our tix for the 501st bash there as well! gonna be a blast! Wooooooooooooooo!
  20. Ok, since ive decided to sell my bikerscout instead of my TE2 sandy...heres some pics of where im at: here is part of my strapping system. My system consists of mostly snaps and plastic clips, with very little industrial strength Velcro. Basically what ive done, is i placed the plastic side of industrial strength velcro where i wanted snaps. I then attached the snaps to a piece of nylon webbing, (basically like when you use a strip of ABS to attach the snap, to make a "snapstrip")and glued that to the previously applied plastic side of the velcro. This does 2 things. 1- It allows the snap to conform to the curve of the armor, unlike a strip of ABS would. 2- Although its difficult, the strip CAN be removed if need be. I also attached the plastic clips by looping the elstic or webbing through and adding a snap. This way the clip can be replaced if it breaks. The strips on the chest armor are nylon webbing glued directly to the industrial velcro as ive learned if i use snaps they sometimes pop off. Ive used this system on my TK for 2 years and havent had a problem with clips breaking or anything coming undone. So i stick by this method religiously Here is how i did my "suspenders". the snap attachments are done the same as before. The "Suspenders" are 1.5" wide elastic that criss cross in the front. Why the front? Well, this prevents any of the "suspenders" showing in the "neckcut" of the back armor. You tend to see this when wearing them crossed in the back. Although its hard to see, heres a shot of me from the front without the chest armor. You can see the "ab-to-chest" straps hanging forward for easy attaching when the chest is on. Right now the clips are held on with safety pins. I will sew them into place, but i first need to adjust the length of them till its perfect, then i can sew them in place. You can also see the "suspenders" crossing in the front. I also have them snap together in the front to keep them lined up. Here you can see the shoulder attachment with white elastic and snaps. My TK has the shoulder bells with a loop of webbing with snaps on them that the shoulder elastic would slip through and then snap on. I cant use this method here as the webbing wouldhave to be white, so im going to try attaching the shoulder bells vis the bottom of the elastic shoulder straps with snaps. Here you can see how i extened the tops of the chest and back armor to lessen the gap between them. I have 42" chest so theres a little bit of a gap. I attach the kidney to the ab plate via a side plate glued to the kidney plate, and velcro on the ab plate and front of that side plate. and together.. I put it on a bit crooked, but you get the idea..the ab plate should be straight up and down lined up with the seam of the kidney plate/side plate. This also makes it adjustable by a few inches incase i lose or gain weight. So i have this so far...
  21. Hahaha...you know you wanna switch to elastic...dont you hear the elastic sith lords calling you? LOL!
