  1. I'd like to order a Version A now, and of course, B later. Thanks for doing these.... BRILLIANT! B) By the way, can I start a thread on the Florida Garrison board? I know a LOT of people that'd like to own a pair of these.... LMK when you get a quick moment!

Hey Dave, sure go ahead (I'm pretty sure I wrote that before, but it somehow got lost ?!) Let your friends know, I'm going to do as many sets as needed ;)

  2. Hi guys, I got the first set ready to ship, and the next waiting to cure. I'm sorry it takes that long, I tried to pull a set out of the moulds after like 5 days and that was too early, it really does take a week.

However, I'm on it and Rolf will be getting his asap :)

  3. Looking good to me - maybe you should take some pics in daylight without flash, as it might be causing the yellow to be so prominent.

And yeah, getting all that hair into the bucket can be quite a pain!

I usually wear a balaclava though and have them run down my back. But then dreads are another difficulty level I guess ;)

  4. Mike: You're more than welcome to join :)

RoCKo: Thanks for the praise - it's about **** time that someone raises the bar for TK/TD costumes here in Germany. But then only 2 people where interested in those handguards here in the German Garrison... sad but true. Oh well ;)

  5. Hey guys.

After a rather successful run of screen-accurate latex handguards over on the FISD I decided I'd open run #2 on here. This is open to FISD members as well of course, I just felt like posting about it here this time.

I have completely redone the moulds, to make them even nicer and sharper in detail - which worked out pretty well, the only downside is that the new moulds aren't made of plaster and won't absorb the humidity, hence the latex takes a little while longer to cure.

I'm planning to offer those in two versions this time.

Version A: Cast in white latex (cures to a slight off-white colour) - Very durable for trooping, look great weathered, give you the comfort of having handguards that follow your hand movement rather than stiff plastic plates.

Version B: The "screen accurate" version for all the accuracy nuts. Cast in natural latex (cures to a honey colour) and painted white afterwards.

Please include which version you'd like to order. Price will be the same on both: 22 Euros shipped to anywhere in Europe, $35 for a set shipped to the States. Had to slightly raise the prices as I paid a lot more for shipping last time than I expected.

I will be doing version A sets first! As I have the white latex here right now, but if there's more interest in the uber-accurate version I'll order natural latex right away.

Apart from that, the run will happen on a first come, first serve base - It takes roughly one week (yeah that long) for a set to cure before I can work on them and send them out. So if you order you'll have to wait a little, but I'll keep you all posted! Just sign up now, once your sets are ready I will contact you with payment details and ship out your sets as soon as I get the payment in. Worked fine last time, I'm sure it'll work out here as well :)

Anyway... here are some pics for you guys:

  6. Another little update. I just weathered the first set of my new version latex handguards. Those come from new moulds and are super sharp, and cast in white latex. I will soon be offering those in a second run - the first happened on the FISD. I will be offering both the white latex version and the "classic" honey coloured latex version painted white.

Anyway, here are pics of the first "prototype":

  7. I've got the MG34 waiting to be finished, some backpack parts kicking about and yep, I have a nice pauldron already :)

Currently I'm saving up some cash to order a set or armour to go with that lid, and I'm waiting for my second pair of TK boots to be returned to me by a fellow Garrison member, so I can dirty them up ;)

Here's a pic showing the current status, kind of:

  8. Right guys. We had a nice, warm and sunny day here in Germany so I thought I'd put it to good use and destroy the perfect and glossy paint finish I had achieved on my CAP lid the other week, as it's going to be my sandtrooper bucket.

And I really went to town with it, I'm not the guy for subtle weathering, I want it rough and dirty :td:

So here it is, the way I know me I'll keep putting things on and taking things off for another week, so it's done yet, but close to it, changes will be subtle.

earlier pic, I've taken off a little on the forehead after taking that pic

for those who would like to know, this is the finish I had to destroy...

So what do you guys reckon? I'm quite happy for now, except for some minor things I'll have to tweak

  9. Hey guys. I'm currently waiting for a new lid from my bro CAP, he's doing a run of helmets in high gloss HIPS.

I just got a pic of the first "prototype" helmet he just finished, and I love it!!! Can't wait to get mine now :)

Here's a pic for you to drool at:

    Now that's a real beauty!

  10. A first update: The latex takes a lot longer to cure in those new moulds.

I guess it's because of the difference in mould materials, I need to leave it for another day or two, we'll see. Hope it's worth the wait! Fingers crossed...

  11. Thanks for the praise :) I'm really glad you like them - I made new moulds today and just poured a first test set in the white latex to see if they're better than the old moulds. I'll let you guys know tomorrow once the handguards are fully cured (it takes 24+ hours before you can take them out of the mould again... great for practicing you patience! :D )

  12. Never knew that Dan made these

How did you miss that? :D Nah, I was only doing a run on the FISD a few weeks back, will do the next here, if people are interested... of course that doesn't mean my clean and shiny friends from over there won't be able to order as well!

So there will be a new run again ?! Would be very cool :) !

    Grtz RAY

    Yep, very soon :)

  13. could be argued, but we won't here, not again.

Wasn't Gino banned from all the detachments a little while back? For insulting language and "trolling"? Not that I mind him being here, it's just weird that people forget that bit about Gino very easily

  14. I've got a few more bits and bobs flying around already. I might even give the radio faceplate a go and build my own one from scratch :) I'm not in a rush, so it might take a while, but I'll make sure to post progress pics here!

  15. I want to cast them in white latex/rubber so they're more suitable for trooping. The painted ones look great and are definitely more accurate, but the forearm rubs against the back edges and the paint doesn't hold up too well to that. While that would be accurate as well, I can see people not being too happy about it ;)

I will do both versions soon though, white cast and the standard ones painted white :)
