  1. Seeing the evidence, especially those rivets on the flaps! it seems very likely.
  2. So along that line of thinking maybe these pouches originated from a WWII production that had thrown together some German pouches for extras and the Star Wars production simply re-used them.
  3. I agree, welcome back to the Sandtrooper obsession Art!

    Paitbrush?

No right or wrong with a costume but we're all better off in the quest to try and discover the screen accurate method even if it's to just know. I know you are totally on top of that idea Art but I wanted to reiterate it since it can, in the 501st especially, get confused.
  5. Sorry for the off-topic tangent. I was following the thread on the RPF where Brian Muir (who sculpted the original stormtrooper armor among other things) posted his recollections and screen shots of armor test footage from 1976. This led to more researching and discussion of the armor and helmet that is all incredibly interesting. The thread is in the middle of a many page long thread titled "AA case begins" Actually reading the case decision by the judge in the AA court case is a fascinating Star Wars read as well. Here's a link to the RPF thread. Depending on your preferences the new info starts on about page 80 I think. For me it's page 20. There's also a smaller thread here with the screen caps, in general discussion I believe.

The key is wearing the armor as a costume vs creating an accurate ANH replica. Both have appeal but need a completely different approach in all likelihood. I was just thinking I'd like to re-weather my armor and as it's going to be my sole costume rather than the strict replica I hope to make the others, I'd like to try to have an accurate looking but realistic in person look. Mike H weathered the helmet I have and it meets that realistic but accurate look very nicely, just need to weather the armor to match. Of course since I have a "blue" AP armor set I might have to get new armor first to be truly satisfied. I wish the choice of armor was better.
  7. We are incredibly fortunate we have you and your skill Art. I'm obsessed with the details but so often it seems I just see what I'm expecting. It takes a unique talent to be able to look at these images we all have studied and find those specific details that bring us closer to a better replica and enlightenment on the production Sandtroopers. Looking at these images again with your new (to me) observations I see what you are seeing. Fantastic work. Thanks! This and the recent Stormtrooper revelations have made this a great week for fans.
  8. Everyone that has gotten a DVD from me, can you check the second layer is working? I had someone discover they couldn't play the second layer so the film stopped at the 1h :03min mark. If anyone else has that problem as well I will replace the DVDs with single layer versions immediately. Thanks!
  9. Looks like another great project. Count me in for pouches. Is that MG-15 mold in progress a tease? I've been waiting for that!!!
  10. I have one more safety sleeve left. I've placed an order for more so after the next request for one there will be a small delay as I wait to receive the sleeves. Hope everyone enjoys the film!
  11. Just a quick note that I have a small collection of various fan creations of the films, many of you might have these already but please feel free to pm me about other titles that may be of interest. I'll get to work building a catalog with screen caps.
  12. I would love to have a quality MG-15 replica. We've seen a few molded over the years but never a proper run of parts of complete blasters. Can't wait to see what's next for the project!
  13. And not only is it a great version of the film but there's also an option for a text commentary detailing exactly how it's been changed. Some examples from one scene: These screen grabs are from the DVD5 version, I'm sending out the DVD9 version that is sharper quality. I also have PAL or NTSC for the overseas members.
  14. Everybody - Just PM me an address and when I run out of this supply of sleeves, I'll get some more sleeves. I've got 7 in line already. It's a pleasure to be able to help people see this great version of Star Wars. It'll never replace the original theatrical release but it certainly outclasses the Special Edition.
  15. Just want to offer to help out with copies. I have been offering copies to my Garrison since the release. I can make the DVD9 version for anyone that wants one. It really is worth seeing, it's a great compromise on the Special Edition, Original and all new content. $4 - just to cover shipping, packing and the media, the film is of course, free! I have enough DVD sleeves for 10 copies.
  16. Looks like a fantastic start Scootch, thanks. I think Rolf is dead on, the black ribbed area needs to extend further down the shoulder, huge thanks to Rolf as I hadn't appreciated how far down it came until he pointed it out, hope that's an easy fix to the plan.
  17. Excellent! Mike have you considered a DVD?
  18. Ah man! You should've let me know you were going. I was on the fence up until the last minute. I heard afterwards you guys stood around until almost 1:30 before the parade even started. There was much waiting to start, it was pretty agonizing and like the other OLG I kept the 'ol bucket on the whole time. Still, hanging out with the great bunch of troopers that were there was fun even if it's just standing around. Sorry for the off topic!!
