Troop-able at the least. Looking good

From the charter: http://501st.com/charter.php
Formal membership, voting rights, and eligibility for office in a detachment requires that a Legion member be active, own a qualifying costume as represented by the detachment, and have the corresponding costume designation in his/her profile. The approval of said costume is, however, still the purview of their local GML. Ownership of a qualifying costume is verified annually as part of the Legion census. Membership in a detachment is optional, and you can be a member of more than one detachment. Membership is initiated by the Legion member when the above criteria is met and they register on the detachment's forum. Active status is maintained by logging onto said forum once a year. Failing this, the member becomes an inactive member of the detachment. All that is required to be reactivated is to once again log in.

This counts anyone, even if they've never posted or even signed on. It's probably time to prune them out. I did a prune on FISD for anyone who wasn't a 501st member, had 0 post count, and hadn't logged in over a year. We went from ~6200 members to 2600, e.g. lost 4000 members that way.

As you note Rolf - her case gets weaker with each decision made. Stay strong - you're in the right and you have your brothers behind you. My experience is that sons really do best with Dad, especially as they get older. He'll need you more and more as time goes on.
Thanks for keeping us posted, and keeping the faith!

TE2 armor, SB pauldron, SithArmor pouches, scifire MG-34. Alas, for some reason the weathering is a tad washed out on the screen - it's more visible in person. Still, I'm pretty chuffed.

OK, it's not an MEPD trading card but for my 501st trading card I used my TD as the image. A big box just came in the mail yesterday, and they turned out awesome!
Big thanks to Tray for his dedication and craftsmanship on these:
-
Because that's how they have it set up for suits for folks outside MG.
-
You could check on FISD as well - there are a few people over there for sure. Or, most anyone in Mountain Garrison
Just make sure you order via Tray instead of direct.
-
Good pricing too. The MEPD just keeps getting better and better

I had never seen that!
Which makes is even cooler that we came to the same conclusions. One fact that you bring up that I thought of but didn't write was why one shot kills a TK. As you note, the answer is that the armor is probably designed against most blast damage, glancing hits, and probably head on shots by *normal* blasters. But, people like the Rebels and Han aren't carrying around 'street legal' hardware, are they? No, they will have something very powerful that is specifically rated to take down an armored opponent.
Cheers Noel - great minds think alike

Now... now... now... you've got to read my defense for us on those issues!
And mine, which I wrote in 2006

1. You should request 501st access to see 501st only stuff.
2. This thread has many answers, and I'd suggest at least putting it in the 501st only area as opposed to sandtroopers only area.

An academy for MEPD - an idea whose time has come. I'm surprised no one thought of it sooner ;-)
What matters most though, is that it's begun and will simply grow over time.

Wow, it's like a re-birth of that armor. Sorry you had to do some work on it to get it to fit, but hopefully removing shims was a lot easier than starting from scratch. The weathering is superb.
I'll agree that while I think TM is the shiz for TK, for some reason TE2 seems to make the best TD's!

My friend TD9009 aka Alberto Vitali old member of mepd have a real mg15 deactivated and mg 34 deactivated
a new year alberto return active with new armo TE1 and crashman Back pack boyscout frame
What a stud! Makes me wish I didn't have kids at times.

Excellent points Juan! Also, just because we are displaying soldiers we're still civilians under the covers. When troopers start bossing other troopers around based on their costume...well some things can be taken too far

Conceptually with the advent of the NT, seeing as how the pauldrons indicated ARC training and the color was based on organization, one would presume that these were specially ARC trained troopers (Vader's best!). I always preferred the theory that color was branch.
However we have the anecdote that when Lucas saw the sandtroopers he asked the prop guys how he could tell what rank they were, and thus were born the pauldrons.
So, even though what we see on screen percent wise and also via the New Trilogy doesn't bear it out, the original intent and current LFL marketing says they are rank based, does it not?
I think having black/white be corporal/sergeant or vice versa is fine, with no pauldron being a basic grunt trooper.
In other words, in my verbose style, ignore my previous post.

Gray is really dirty white. Thanks Terry for recognizing these unsung cannon fodder who were so much in the background they could not be spared pauldrons/packs from wardrobe/props.
-
Excellent job Terry! I'd suggest just removing the ranks entirely. The keys provided by LFL make no real sense at all.
I love the idea of keeping these sticky, or else putting them in their own visual reference area of the forums.
-
Outstanding! A lot cheaper to visit than Morocco
-
Nice! Another good way for me to loose sleep on
-
I love the results Terry! I think this is more in line with what the dirt actually is - not sand per se but more that the armor gets spray from "oil" and "grease" and the dirt just clings to it.
Excellent job, and way to both raise the bar and provide some excellent new research
