Did you hand paint or use decals? Sorry - am in the middle of painting helmets now - am looking for all the tips I can get. :-p

FWIW, I found them online in the US via:

Sweet. Where are good places to find it?

Am going to paint my frown (and other helmet parts). What paints is everyone using? I tried some Testor paints, but didn't get the color I wanted.
-
Excellent - thanks! Just what I needed.

I have a new helmet and am making it Sandy and want to custom paint it instead of using decals.
What paints/colors did you use?

Once one goes...I'm in the process going from TK to TD. When I told some others of my plans, others got interested too. Now there may be three of us going down the dirt trail...
Just need to get that MG34 & pack!

I think it looks absolutely _awesome_!!
Extreme weathering? I don't think so. Most "dirtying" looks about what someone would get from a week's field duty at most. With tents.
You on the other hand look like you've been _out_ there for several weeks if not a month...you've *been* there and actually *worked* there. Sleeping in foxholes, on the lee side of your speeder, or wherever else you passed out at the end of the day.
Not like those nancy boys with their easy Mos Eisley duty, who just walk around all day and actually take *showers* and sleep in barracks. ;-p
You've set a new height for me to reach!

41 has me beat - I just turned 37 in May. Got some armor a few years back but only now am getting really involved.
Guess you're never too old!

Well, there is a different POV that there is no grey. The dewback rider that appears to have a grey pauldron has instead a really dirty/dark white pauldron.
Frankly I could never understand why a dewback rider would have a special pauldron that was not rank related - what happens when he dismounts? Who would know what rank he had?
Also in most services there are different grades of enlisted. It's probably more accurate to think of them as:
White: enlisted (non-NCO)
Black: NCO (non-commissioned officer)
Orange: Officer / Warrant Officer

Re: specific I meant the canvas belt.
Excellent - these responses are what I was looking for

Are there any instructions on how to make a sandtrooper belt? Looking at photos, it's a bit different from the standard belt one gets from an FX suit.
What would a stormtrooper have in their ammo pounches?

Lasers consume a lot of power, so one could rationalize that they are energy packs, each pack being only good for so many discharges.
But they weren't lasers. A laser beam travels at the speed of light and the weapons clearly shot something that did not. More like energized bullets or bolts of plasma traveling at a high rate of velocity. If each "bolt" were analogous to a bullet, then you'd have magazines of such things just like we do today.
