  1. Just thought I'd break in on this chatter... Yes, weathering for SWAT is sort of annoying because there AREN'T standards set. Maybe one day there will be... but we just haven't had enough guys do it yet to make it happen. When/IF you do it you'll just have to give reference. The good thing about it is that if you're told, "You need to do blah blah blah on the helmet to match this picture..." and you can say, "Actually I was going off this picture." and it's accurate to what you used for reference then there's nothing that can be said to argue it. The weathering is the last detail — the icing on the cake, the coup d'etat, the final flourish. It's not the end all be all, but it is needed. Until then, like you said, enjoy your armor! It's killer and you look GREAT and that's all that REALLY matters! Who knows... if I get back into leadership maybe I'll make another level of awards — something like a secret fraternal order of policemen where weathering doesn't matter but you have to steal the mascot from the FISD. haha
  2. Ditto Dutchy too. My first weathering — way back when — was really similar. It looks at lot like mud or blood or something. More than sand. I loved it though. But then, the more I looked around the more I wanted to change it. But yeah, it's looking good!! And if you like it the it's awesome! Here is mine... 1st one is my first go and 2nd video is how it ended up... these are 5 years ago. *whoa*
  3. This could be a bumper sticker. Put it on our Dewbacks.

I like the texture too. It was part of what I tried to do with just other methods on mine — like throwing dirt on it... and walking around in actual desert locals here in Albuquerque. haha Very nice!
  5. Yep... Gordonator is right. Unless you have had a previously deployed officer then you have to do what the CRL is... THEN change it for SWAT. It was one of the big "issues" people had when we came up with SWAT because it's not a solely "upward" slide - some of it is a bit "back" and "lateral."

    Need Some Help

I THINK there may be a way the admins can "merge" your accounts so all the old posts become your new user's posts. Regardless, welcome back!!!!
  7. Thanks! *and great job on the troop again!
  8. Haha... I know, everyone keeps saying that! I think I always knew it too. Thanks for waiting on me and everyone not running off and joining the clones. hahaha
  9. Yes, I know... but I just like the orange. haha I also like that they obviously used @Iconoclasta_88 as a template... AND that they used my method of connecting the shoulder pouch to the backpack.
  10. I know, I know... everyone probably has one of these already, but I just finally bought one for myself with Christmas money and MAN do I love him!!
  11. Great job brother!!!! *if you want to sell me those Spanish pouches I'm here for ya...
  12. Haha... yes, it's 4 teeth on each side brother. Why did you fill them in — if I may ask? At least cutting them out is easier than filling them in!
  13. Thank you bro!!!! It is sooo good to be here!!!!
  14. Thanks my brother (and everyone else!) It warms my sandy heart that everything seems to have been rolling along smoothly during my hiatus. I totally agree... the bond we have as sandtroopers is like friendship times infinity! I'm just so happy to be starting again! To be HERE again!!
  15. Haha... man THAT is awesome! Well played! My mom - the Queen of keeping secrets - would be proud!
  16. Thanks Juan! Thanks Rolf! Man it's good to be back!!!
  17. Haha. Awesome! You're right... that's extreme! I was thinking about commissioning you to make some toothpicks out of Quebracho wood. I'm trying to get a mortgage to make it happen. J/K
