Okay. Good idea. I may have gotten my numbers mixed up anyway. What I looked at was as thin as I'd dare go. It probably was 1/2" actually. Yes, the straps/harness that holds the backpack on you. There are probably tutorials for that on here that I should look for when I get the chance. But Im currently doing too many things at once. lol

Okay, I went to Home Depot yesterday and checked out pvc piple. I think Ill go 3/4 for a buck twenty. It seems sturdy enough to build a frame out of. Thoughts? So Ill build my own frame. I will find some thing that might look interesting for a heavy weapons pack. My BIG question at this point though..... WHAT DO I USE FOR A HARNESS????

So Dirty Boy, What do you build the frames out of? I think once I have that, the rest SHOULD be fairly easy. Just walk around Walmart/Lowes/Home Depot/etc. and find stuff that strikes my interest. I have had some tell me that I can build one for $50 from stuff at walmart, but also heard that's not even close to how much it'd cost. So approximately how much does it cost to build your own from scratch? I need a backpack for the Heavy Weapons Trooper Im making. It doesnt have to be screen accurate per se. Just cool looking. Hehe.. Ya caught me! Yeah, when I first learned about that there were authentic costumes, it was by seeing an Arc Trooper. So when I first decided to get into the 501st, I was actually thinking going Arc Trooper or Clone Trooper, but, being from a small town at the time, I realized most people would not recognize them as easily as a Stormtrooper. So when I started looking around I started seeing the TD's that people had done and I figured I'd do that eventually after I got my TK. But yeah, there's still a place in my heart for them Arc Troopers/Clone Troopers, and I guess it's showing haha. I just didn't realize it would be that obvious. lol I may add some brownish here and there at some point, but Im really partial to that more unnatural battled out look. Thanks for the links man. I'll have to check them out! I started my helmet too. I'll have to get pics when its done. Thanks again for your comments! I appreciate the feedback!

Well, this started out as something I wanted to do as a temporary thing. But now that I've done it... I think I may not turn back. But... I have to get read for Star Wars Weekends at Disney! So I need to get the ab plate and the sniper knee. If anyone could help me out there it would be appreciated! ANYWAY... I did all of this today! With a little bottle of black paint, a piece of spung/foam and a lot of paper towels. LMK what you guys think! I have actually played with the idea of going TD, well, since I started actually. I usually sport a pauldron when I troop. But I just never got up the nerve to try it until today. Here's what Ive done so far....

Hey all! I am planning on going to an event this sunday, but I was thinking since I have a pauldron and ammo pouch (I know other things are needed to make it official) that I'd like to see if how I'd like the "dirty" effect on my armor. But I want it to be easily removable so I can either 1) Go back to clean or 2) Remove it so I can do it the right way. It also has to be something easy that I can do today. (if that is possible) Maybe something at a local store I could pick up? Again, this is just going to be a TEST run sort of thing. Nothing that needs to be permanent. If/WHEN I DO go official TD, I want to do it right and make it look REAL good. So this is just a temporary thing for this weekend. Any suggestions?

I got myself an Master Replicas Collectors Edtion bucket, and I need advice tips or general help on moding the ears and such. I am very leary to take it apart myself. So the more specific the advice the better. Thanks! Somethings it needs modifications on: Ears - they stick out too far Aerators need replacing. I need to know how to remove them. I already have replacments I got from Stomper. Lenses The frown needs some work - mainly some paint which I can do. But also needs widening I THINK. The seem needs fixing but Im going to wait on that.

Hey all. I purchased my under armor yesterday! I got it from a place called ZYFLEX.COM The guy was really friendly. I will let you guys know how good the quality is once I recieve it. It was a little cheaper than Under Armor, but basically the same stuff it seems. The leggins where 50% off for this week, plus I got free shipping! So thus far, Im happy! Okay. So update time: I now have all of the following: MR CE Helmet (on its way) FX Helmet (assembled & decaled with fans and voice amp) - I am thinking I will swipe the amp and fans from that and use them in my new helmet when it arrives. FX Lite Kit Hasbro Blaster - Currently in process of painting. Holster for 'bro Blaster which is actually not big enough for the blaster to fit.... Neck Seal - I got the cloth version. But it sits sort of funny. I may have to make some adjustments to it. Boots (got the Dark Side Stormtrooper Boots from Dan on ebay) Suspenders - Heavy Duty Under Armor - from ZYFLEX.COM Pauldron - Orange I am still planning on starting out as a TK then eventually making the alterations to make it a Sandtrooper, or as I like to call them... Stormtrooper Commando. (it just makes more sense to me, as Im sure they function in other environtments than Tatooine. I mean... would they still be "Sandtroopers" on say...Felucia, or Kamino?) So all I need for my TK at this point is: Gloves - I am planning to go to the local hardware store and picking up some of the rubber chemical gloves. I read that is what they used in the movie anyway, and that they are cheap. Voice Amp - I am planning on using my basic one that is in my FX helmet for now. But I want to get the Hyperdyne or the RomFX. Probably the Hyperdyne since it is cheaper. Then I will need to just get the Stormtrooper Commando stuff: Ab piece Knee plate Ammo Pouches - Zac said he has a set for me Backpack Lewis rifle Hopefully I will be able to start assembly of my armor today! Hi TD-252 ! Thanks for the links... I have a few questions though... Neck Seal.. Are the cotton neck seals better than the lycra ones? (please explain) B/C I see some lycra ones on ebay too. But they are actually more expensive. EDIT 6-26-08 Hello everyone! First of all, thanks for a great forum! Okay... here is the scoop. I have my new FX-LITE ARMOR coming! MY VERY FIRST ARMOR!!!!! I am extremely excited!! It should arrive on monday the 30th. Sadly, not in time for me to wear it in the 4th of July Parade (which is something I was REALLY hoping to do this year, but it would take something akin to a miricle to get it completed in time for that I imagine)...but...we move on.. Still.. I cant WAIT to get it together and get trooping!! It's going to be a blast! So I have (or will have my next monday) the following: Helmet - has voice amp and cooling fans. (though I plan to get the voice amp that has both static bursts and changes your voice a bit) Armor Kit - this is the lite version so I guess it doesnt come with anything but the armor pieces. Hasbro Blaster - I got the paints to paint it with too Holster Backpack - well, I dont have one yet, but I guess I have a freind of a friend who is supposed to be making me one Neckseal - going to order one from nikkimat on ebay I need advice and recommendations from you guys on the following: Under armor - I was told I could get some at wal-mart, but I wasnt able to find it there. (I might have just looked in the wrong places) Can anyone help me find some? I can pay for it and shipping. I'd like to get a two piece set. I found a lycra body scuba suit that is $45 shipped, but that would be tricky when nature calls. Boots - Anyone have a pair Gloves Pauldron - orange preferably Sandtrooper armor parts Ammo pouch (also need to know how to attach it) Voice amp - that alters voice to soudn more like a trooper & has static burst Some type of suspenders??? I think I saw someone mention suspenders before. WHAT KIND OF SUSPENDERS DO I NEED? Am I missing anything? Also.. I need a list of materials and tools I will need to purchase to assemble my armor. I have : a hot glue gun dremmel rivet gun. Industrial strength velcro (10 ft) blue painters tape sandpaper What else do I need? I know I need some type of 2 part epoxy glue... right? Clamps? How many and what kind & size? What else? ALSO... Any advice on assembling my armor? I was going to try to use Dave's Garage on Youtube. Any recommendations or advice? Bought and paid for!! I am very excited as this will be my FIRST piece of Stormtrooper armor ever! I cant wait to get it! I figure it will do me for now. I still gotta get the armor and everything else. That's going to cost a pretty penny Im sure. Then someday I can always upgrade to an AP or RT or something. It IS a GT FX Helmet. Do you guys think if I could get it for... $125 shipped it would be worth it to start out with? I mean... once I can afford to upgrade (SOMEday), I could always sell it and at least get close to my money back out of it, right? Also... is a GT FX helmet different from an FX helmet?
