  1. And then, did some weathering and aging work on it: 1. I put it in very hot water to make it softer and the rolled up and down the whole pouch and the leather flaps. Trying to simulate the looping of the flaps of the pouch seen on screen. Allowing it to dry with wood blocks inside. 2. Then the dying. Since I didnt want it to be black but dark green, and also tyo have the look of and old dirty oily pouch, I used just a bit of the black cloth dye bag, and leave it boiling for a while before puting in the pouch. I allowed the pouch to stay in the dye for just a minute and then wash it. Did this for a few times. Then put the pouch in the dye again but just the lower half of it. And washed it. Again a few times. Finally, I pour some dye in each pocket and leave it there to dry (kind of how a coffee filter works). This, to make some kind of color degrade effect. It worked nicely. 3. And finally the weathering. I used the hairspray and real dirt technique. Then tossed it to the floor and kick it around for a while. It worked great. And I loved the final result. This is how it looks now: The new one vs the weathered one: The whole set: And kind off how it will look with the armor: Im really happy and I think it came out very close to the screen used one. But, what do you think. Your input is very important to me. Any suggestions or ideas to make it better? Thanks a lot. Saludos
  2. A few weeks ago, I got an MP38/40 pouch from IMA on sale. When it arrived it was way better than expected, but still not really accurate. So I decided to modify it to make it more as it is on screen. Most visible difference was the small pouch that was placed too much to the right. So I just toke it apart and sew it back in the correct place: To be continued...
Saludos!! Tanslation (kindof) I dont really know if Mr. Prowse drank any tequila while in Mexico. ut I know he visited a Tequila Factory, so he probably did. Would be a shame if he didnt... Guadalajara is the capital of Tequila. Unfortunately I did not attended this event, but wanted to share that we had our first honorary member in the garrison, and is now our honorary leader too. Saludos...
  4. Yep, the guys on the mayan Squad are great. They told me they had met you back then. Even said they would send you some pictures of you and them... If they didn't and you want them, I can tell them if you want. Here are a couple more pictures. Dave Prowse receiving receiving the gift. And after the cinvention, having some Mexican food with the Garrison. Saludos! PS... Sí! Super chingón!!
  5. This last weekend, the Mexican Garrison trooped in a Comic convention in the city of Guadalajara (homeland of Tequila). This was a very special moment since the boss himself, Darth Vader attended the event. Over 25 Mexican Legion members were there to present Dave Prowse with a recognition and to make him our garrison's first Honorary Member and also now our Honorary Leader. Dave Prowse the signed our banner and wore the Mexican Garrison Tshirt during the whole event. Even going for dinner with the Garrison members after the event. This was a great moment for all of the troopers who were there and a moment of joy and pride for our whole garrison. Unfortunetly, I was not able to attend the event, but here are some pictures of some brothers from the garrison. This is the gift given to Mr Prowse: And this is his Id Card making him a member of our garrison: Saludos

LOL Wow! Talking about projects is almost as fun as working on them... Saludos
  7. Its always cool to see a new TD on its way! Welcome Bro... I would try and clean up a little of the weathering. Maybe try and remove some of the paint with a damp cloth or sponge, and then giving it some texture with a dry paper towel. Check out the weathering tutorials over here: http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=4239 http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=4973 Anyway, as always, weathering is personal... and as long as you are happy, it is good enough. Saludos....
  8. Congrats bro... all the best and lots of happiness to your baby, wife and yourself! Saludos!
  9. Just want to let you know my pouches from IMA arrived today, and even if they are not that accurate, I thought it would be interesting to let you know that have made some improvements (at least from picture on the site). The square stitching is gone, and replaced with a rectangular inverse U stitching. Pretty cool surprise for me. Still, the small tool pocket is in the wrong place and the D ring is not that great. They are way better than expected and very happy for now. here is a picture: Saludos...
  10. I just bought these puches from IMA (will be arriving tomorrow). I know they are not accurate but they will work fine till I find or make accurate ones. I think some mods would be in order anyway... -Remove the bottom line of the square stitching in the flaps. (maybe ill need to re-stitch it again) -Moving of the small pouch. -Replace the D rings for some steel ones or something, maybe I can find something in a fleamarket. -Sand and "damage" the strap holders, maybe they will rust. -Wash them in hot water and some kind of detergent to make them look old, and let them dry with a wood block inside. -Not dye but maybe just darken the green canvas with oil, paint and mud. (this will be tricky) -Weather them with hairspray and dust. -And at the end, maybe leave them a few days in direct sunlight. I hope this will make them look more accurate. Havent heard of something like this, but I think it would be like making it go through a pouches lifetime in a few weeks... LOL Saludos...
  11. Hey bro... Maybe you can write to Crashmann... he has some cool backpack parts... Saludos...
  12. I think Im going to cry... But, its all part of the search for the perfect TD I guess... I do think now the radios are all black... I think there is more than enough evidence. Till we find something that might prove this wrong I guess... (or proves it is 100% accurate). Thx Saludos...
  13. This from another thread... I'm in no way saying its gray, just that in this picture it looks gray. Or more like two tones of black... Anyway, its just an idea, for sure Im no expert nor have done any deep or real research... Saludos...
  14. THX a lot... I do enjoy making my own stuff, and am proud of wearing it!! (even if its not great) I just love this hobby! Saludos!
  15. THX bro... I still need to find out how to make it better, so... Ill make a second and maybe third version of this. I have been told that melting the glue sticks on the stove could be an option, but if not donely correctly, the glue will burn on the bottom and stay solid on top... Im thinking of giving a try anyway... Will post results. Saludos..
  16. It looks great to me... Kind of "realistic" according to SW reality.. HEHEHE, do you get what I mean? Like it... always liked the less is more approach. Saludos
  17. No need to thank... Its just great to see your kids smile, specially after what you went through. Gracias por compartirnos esto hermano... Saludos
  18. 5. Paint 6. Straping 7. weathering 8. And then, attached to rubber gloves. I know it is not 100% accurate, specially for the elastic part instead of glueing it to the glove, but... its still a prototype. And Im thinking of someway for me to use it with the rubber gloves and my regular ones too. So, what do you think? Am I going in the right direction? Its home made and I don't have much experience with plastic and other industrial materials.. so... I think it is a good first attempt. Any suggestions? THX... Saludos...
  19. So, inspired by some of the recent proyects on Screen accurate handplates, I decided to try and make a pair for myself... So far, I have mmm acceptable (but not great) results. Heres is the process... 1. I first made the blue prints based on screen caps. 2. Then, used regular kids playing daugh (not play dough, sorry, dont know the real translation could it be plasticine), I made my models. 3. With dentist plaster (dont know if this is the right translation either) I made the molds. 4. Then, I used silicon (hot glue) to fill the cast and make the piece. To be continued...
  20. That looks awesome! Great work Rolf... as always. Saludos
  21. Thanks a lot. It was a cool event and we got filled five cans in a few ours!! Muchas gracias a hermanos! Saludos!
  22. I like it! Looks really cool. I like the weathering a lot! hope you get deployed soon. Saludos
