  1. After finally getting the groove tube sorted for my T21, I started looking into the sling. Studying the pictures, I got more and more convinced they used two WW2 Enfield canvas rifle slings with brass fittings, like this: What gave it away, was first of all the pre-knowledge that they used a lot of British WW2 stuff, and secondly the brass fittings and the raised and curved edge along the sides of the sling, as seen in this behind the scenes photo: And the curved edges: ...Only thing I couldn´t work out, was how they linked the two slings together - until I found this: http://enfieldrifles.profusehost.net/ti20.htm ...Detailing how to attach an Enfield sling, like so: Now take a look at this picture, pay special attention to where the sling is looped around the front end of the barrel, and how it´s attached to itself: Here´s a close-up further down the sling, where you can clearly see the brass fitting of the Enfield sling, and how the C-ring on the end is clamped around the sling: And here´s how I think it was done: ...Now all I gotta do, is find myself a nice pair of green canvas Enfield slings, and try it out for myself!
  2. This little guy joined us for the opening of Star Wars: The Exhibition in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden about a month ago...Not my kid though, but belonging to the dirty trooper next to him, TD-6213. Yup, it´s the TM kiddy armor, Now a Nordic Garrison heirloom - and it looks fantastic, even more so close up. Got all the little details right, way more accurate than my grown up sized AFX! (Me on the far right, by the way, my very first troop with my HF T-21! Yay! Still have a lot of work to do before applying for MEPD deployment, though...)
  3. TK 6237 requesting access, please. Pretty, with sugar on top.
  4. Yeah, they rock so hard I wanna have another one, but my doctor says no. Pffft...Doctors, what do they know?
  5. @TK4510: Happy to be of service! @TD-443: You did see my post about there being several suits available, right? Just follow the last link I posted a bit further up. Also, I wish I could help you with the appendix bit, but I don´t got one either...Appendectomy rocks!
  6. Great job, Rolf! Will you be documenting the weathering process as well? I, for one, would love to see how you do it! I wanna redo the weathering on my suit, and so it would be really cool to pick up a few tips from you...!
  7. @TD-443: They´ve got more available, not just the one suit: http://cgi.ebay.com/Full-Body-Lycra-Zen ... dZViewItem
  8. @TD-443: I just ordered it with the crotch zipper. @TK4510: The size L I ordered was more than long enough, problem areas were the, uh, circumference of the arms and legs, I guess you could call it...I´d say you´d be better off with the XL. You can always just hike up the extra material around the thighs, or down by the ankles - or anywhere your armor will cover it.
  9. Here´s one with the "Buy it now" option, for $6.99 + $25 world wide shipping: http://cgi.ebay.com/Full-Body-Lycra-Zentai...DVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZ ViewItem://http://cgi.ebay.com/Full-Body-Lycra...QQcmdZ ViewItem ...Looks like they changed the name of the Ebay Store from Myzentai to Zentaibase: http://stores.ebay.com/zentaibase
  10. Think that might be me you´re talking about, Rolf. I bought one of their suits about half a year ago, trooped 5-6 times in it so far, and I´m well pleased. No rips or tears so far, and the color has held up good after being washed after each troop. The Ebay link I posted at the Nordic Garrison forum is dead ("This listing is unavailable"), but I believe the suit TD-443 linked to is pretty much the same. The email I received after my purchase, says "FULL Body Lycra spandex Zentai suit removable unisex", if that´s any help. My experience dealing with these guys was really good, anyway. They shipped the item right away, and sent me an email both to tell me how long it would take to get here, and one asking if I was happy with my purchase. Shipping took about 3 weeks to a month, as I recall. As I think Rolf already mentioned, sizes run small, so make sure you order one size larger than usual. I´m 175 cm, 75 kg, and wish I ordered the XL instead of a L. ...Never found out what a "****** Sleeve" is, though. EDIT: Wait a minute; doesn´t seem like the one TD-443 is linking to has removable gloves or hood, nor a crotch zipper...I don´t think that´s the one, actually. The one I bought, looked like this: ViewItem#ebayphotohosting">http://cgi.ebay.com/Full-Body-Lycra-Zen ... otohosting
  11. That looks great, Rolf - Where did you find the strap? Looks the right length as well, and in one piece. Great find!

Here´s Tony´s website, with the research he did on the paint: http://www.tonybarnett.plus.com/stres.html
  13. Hello guys, I´ve been lurking around, even making a few posts, but realized I´ve not really ever introduced myself yet, so here goes. I´m from Norway, work as a cartoonist, and a member of Nordic Garrison since 2007. Being a huge Star Wars fan, I finally made my childhood dream of having a TK armor come true, close to age 30 (actually celebrated my 30th birthday trooping at CE!). My first troop was in April last year, where I even got to share the stage with Jeremy Bulloch, at the local student union´s SW 30th anniversary celebration. Way to kick start the 501st experience! I´ve always had a soft spot for the TD´s, even before joining the 501st, and signed up here some time ago to get the best info on how to dirty up, build the big guns and the back pack. Man, you´ve got some talented and dedicated people on these boards! My conversion from TK to TD is well under way; I´ve got the belly plate and the diamond knee on an AFX suit with an AP helmet, and I´m gonna have a second go at weathering my armor sometime during the next couple of days. I´ve also been lucky enough to get a Hyperfirm T21. I´m sourcing parts to build a back pack next, and then, gods of dust and dirt willing, I´ll be sending in my application for membership in one of the finest detachments in the 501st!
  14. I have and use one of these kits myself, pretty happy with it. Not the same as a scratch built or a HF of course, but as far as Hasbro blasters go, it's a nice upgrade. It's cast in resin though, and will chip pretty easily if dropped on the floor. I usually have to do some minor repair work and touch up the paint job on it after each troop. There used to be a couple of sellers on Ebay offering these kits for about $25, but I just did a search ("e 11 conversion kit") and came up empty...Only Ebay Store who listed this item, was this one: http://www.doopydoos.com/stormtrooper-e ... -207-p.asp ...But they are out of stock. According to their Ebay Store: http://stores.ebay.com/Doopys-World ...Their props department is closed until December 29th, so I would try a search sometime in January. (Doopydoos is the seller previously known as the-filmfreak, by the way. I've bought two kits form this seller, smooth transaction both times.)
  15. Would it be possible to get it shipped overseas? If so, I could be in for one as well!
  16. Just make sure you buy enough of it to fill your needs for the future, as Humbrol paints doesn't get made anymore...Humbrol was acquired by another company a few years back, so get whatever you can find on the shelves - especially #47, #5, #21 and #15. (Sure, there are substitues for using Humbrol, but hey!...It's Humbrol!) Also, let the first layer of paint dry for at least 6 hours before adding the next one (longer, if you thin the paint). I made a right mess the first time I painted the frown on my helmet, and discovered enamels aren't that easy to wipe off. The error I made, was painting the second layer only an hour or so after the first one, resulting in the second layer of paint reliquefying the first...That was a fun night.
  17. I did a Google search, and found this comparison chart: http://www.seatejectcolor.com/seat/colo ... abelle.htm ...It lists Humbrol colors and it's matches with Testor, Tamiya, Revell and a few other brands. You might find a brand there that you can get in an aussie hobbyshop. Hope it might be of some help, although I have no idea how accurate it is.
