  1. Welcome to the boards.....I lurk around in the sand just north of you in Arizona. Come up and troop with the Dune Sea Garrison sometime. Our activities are listed on our updated web site http://www.duneseagarrison.com Steve
  2. I have TD-1536's old pack. The mushroom seems to be 2 3/8" tall and 4 3/8" wide at the bottom flair. It is attached to an insulated drink bottle cap so it can be taken off of the bottle to store stuff in. Hope that makes sense since it doesn't sound right. Steve
  3. I like it. Living in the desert here in Arizona, I used dust collected off my back porch to weather mine....can't get any more realistic than that. Your's looks almost exactly like mine. Steve TD-8918
  4. I found three today at Walmart!!! I too was disappointed at the sculpt and the way the dirt looks. It also would have been nice for the figure to have a BFG instead of a prod, E-11, and canister. Either way, Mike looks great on the card. I bought one. Steve
  5. Welcome, And it looks like you are off to a great start! Steve TD-8918
  6. Cool, It seems I now own about every glue made I just returned back from my very first troop at a local hospital and am proud to say that the uniform stayed together with no equipment malfunctions! The E-6000 and the Goop are very similar and work incredibly well as long as you do not rush anything and allow them to cure properly....I think that is an important key to success. What an awesome time I had with the Dune Sea Garrison today. Even though it was 108 degrees, it was still a great time handing out Star Wars toys to the sick and injured kids. Thanks to everyone who helped me get this far I will be seeking deployment as soon as I finish my MG-34. Steve
  7. What is the set time? I've heard of it. Where do you get it? Isn't that the stuff that comes in tubes you use in a caulk gun? Thats a lot of glue. Steve
  8. OK, So if your ABS strips are now firmly glued to your armor and THEN the snaps start to pop off, what would work to glue metal snaps to ABS strips? I can't pry the strips off to use rivets in this aplication. Would CA glue work? The troop starts 27 hours from now and I still need to test fit some stuff. Steve
  9. OK, I used JB Quick Weld to glue the snaps to small strips of ABS and then glued the strips to my armor (TD). Apparently the glue does not like several things: ABS Plastic - (It is stuck like a rock to the metal snaps) Heat (spending one morning in a box in the car - it s been 110+ daily here for over a month) Flex (suiting up and walking across the living room looks like the beginning of a a sex scene where parts of clothing are left lying on the floor every few feet leading to the bedroom) .....and by the way, this scenario does NOT put me in the mood! I also have the following glues on hand: Locktite Super Glue - Have not tried on ABS E6000 - Works well on ABS so far....flexible but a S L O W dryer to final cure. PVC Cement - Works great on plastic to plastic stuff but the snaps fall right off as soon as you flex the plastic. Any suggestions that will put me back in the game for a hospital visit on Friday? I really, REALLY wanted this to be my first troop. I might try using rivets to attach the metal snap to the ABS and then glue it to the armor but I need to get washers. On a test with the rivets, they just pull right through the plastic when you are applying them. Am I missing something???? Help! Steve12201
  10. Well the Mike Harrison figure is FINALLY starting to show up on eBay. I guess it will be another month before any WalMarts around here have any. Better fire up that pen Hollywood! Steve
  11. OK, I think the link is working to see the pics. Please let me know what I am fitting incorrectly. Thanks, Steve
  12. OK, I couldn't figure out how to get the pictures to link but I included the link to Photobucket so you can look for yourself. I pinned my arms back for some of the shots so that you can see the spaces but it made some of the gaps wider. My son was not a fan of the bucket but my daughter is ready to troop. Photos also included. http://s199.photobucket.com/albums/aa305/steve12201/ Thanks for the help. Steve
  13. Thanks Nico and T Guns. I guess its time to join the 21st century and figure out how to post pictures. Thanks to Seth's other post about how to add pictures, I just signed up for a photobucket account. I guess it is time to suit up and have the wiff take some less than flattering pics of what I have so far. Just give me some time to figure out the new technology......photos pending ASAP. Steve
  14. OK, I'm a little worried right now....I have an AP kit, trimmed, and am now trying to fit all of the upper and lower torso panels to me using tape. I am 5'11" and weigh 180. All my dimensions are pretty standard as I can fit a 42" suit coat witout any tailoring. OK, I taped the cod piece to the bottom part of the lower back/kidney piece so that there is about 1/4" space between them. I then put the two connected halves on and taped the sides together along my side where they were comfortable and not squeezing me. There is about a 2" gap on each side. I also need to mention that I cut the kidney piece/lower back in half along the belt line so it can flex more. My wife then helped me tape on the chest and back pieces where they looked like they fit the best. I completely flipped out when I discovered that there is about a 1" to 2" gap between the back piece and the kidney/ lower back piece. Yep, no chance of overlap there!!! I can't imagine how bad it would be if I bent over. To make matters worse, the front barely overlaps and immediately separates exposing black undersuit as soon as I lean back or look up to the ceiling. I don't think this is right and I am not sure what to do now. I figure I can get a little more room by making the gap wider under the crotch, but I don't think I can get enough inches out of it (I'm guessing 4" would give me enough slack to bend over). I don't think I have a long torso or anything so what am I doing wrong? The area on each side of the cod piece also rubs into my inner thighs. If I trim this area to be a little narrower, I might be able to get a little more height out of the stomach plate and have less rubbing(I figure I gould use another 2" on the top to help keep the chest lipped over the outside of the stomach/cod piece). I would just have to tighten up on the jewels a little Any advice, or should I just get an FX torso? I would like to minimize the black showing and use the entire AP kit. BTW, the shoulder bells are very narrow and don't want to fit around my bicep pieces but I assume I can streach them a little with my new heat gun. No? Thanks Pros, Steve12201
  15. Well, Guess I'll just slide on over to the Jedi side, See Ya....
  16. OK, I've been tinkering with my helmet for two months and didn't even know that we used straps. Back to the drawing board I guess. PS- Good ideas by the way. Steve
  17. Clutch, How are things going on the MG-34. I am still working on a way to make mine break down in half for transport. Any updates/ pics to post? Steve
  18. Since I live in Sunny Arizona and the news is bragging about the cooling trend this week (Its 108 in stead of 116 like last week), I think I'm going to get the UA hot set. Anybody know the style/model numbers? The web site has a LOT of options. Thanks, Steve
  19. Yeah! Cool I would like one too so my son can go as "Mini-Me"
  20. Cool, Let us know how that stuff pans out. My bucket is just about to that point. Steve
  21. Sweet. Did you use a drill press or just kind of wing it. I don't want to get off center any. Steve
  22. Hey that ooks great! What did you use to woodgrain your stock? I like that look a lot. Steve
