  1. If you're talking about the speaker mod... http://www.gothos.com/tk5248/mod1.html
  2. That is a great idea...I never thought of that. I've got speakers permanently installed in my comm tips now though.
  3. I'd just stick with cutting the indented sections out for now...thats the easiest with the least chance of mistakes.
  4. Like most of the armor we all wear isn't 100% screen accurate, but close enough. We just need to make sure we don't get so hung up on "canon" that it becomes a chore and stops becoming fun.

    Custom BFG's

The only pics I have of the gun right now are in the photo gallery in the TD257 album. I really do need to get some more close up photos taken.

    Custom BFG's

I'm hoping we can use our own designs. My BFG was created using the Hasbro Droid Blaster as the base, then adding a 30"X 4" pvc barrel, and a CLR bottle as a stock. It is reminscent of the Lewis gun so hopefully thats will be sufficient.
  7. As it pertains to what we do...a costume that strictly adheres to the appearance of the costumes in the Star Wars movies. For instance, pauldrons and armor free of patches and other adornments that weren't seen in the films. The hard plastic pauldrons seen above look really cool, but they weren't in the movies so...not canon.
  8. Unless one exists already, maybe its time we hammer out some sort of MEPD charter that explicitly lays out the guidlines for what has to be canon and what doesn't. Do the backpacks have to be completely screen accurate? Do the BFG's have to be exactly what was used in the movies? All this and more in a hopefully upcoming charter. I'd be happy to help with one if needed.
  9. I've heard of people putting those cold pack things in their bucket attached with velcro...I've never tried it though. Choice of body stocking is important too. I've trooped in a Midwest summer environment before with "UnderArmor" and it seemed to do a nice job of keeping me fairly comfortable.

    4th of July

I'll be videotaping my garrison-mates marching in a parade in Bartlett, IL.
  11. Are black pack frames readily available somewhere or did you have to buy a whole backpack and remove the frame?
  12. It was a blast...Arturo's armor is top-notch. I wan't able to suit up for this event...videotaping in armor isn't easy.
  13. Here's another with a minor modification... http://www.legionxxiv.org/trooper124/sniperplate.htm
  14. Here's a link to a good tutorial... http://www.multiplehat.com/whitearmor/s ... /index.htm
  15. I guess I should add my name to the list for the hand-guards too. Is there a separate list for that somewhere?

    Ab plate

I still plan on getting the ab plate from JB...I just may have to do some heavy modifications to make it work. If what I''m envisioning works, the cod piece might actually be more screen accurate.
  17. If the MovieFX ab plate turns out to be too small for some of us larger troopers, will removing the buttons and covering the holes with plastic suffice for MEPD requirements?
  18. I used black and brown tempera paints applied with a fan-brush, rags and a little water. It's not permanent, but I was able to re-apply as needed until it looked right. Although I will constantly have to be touching up the dirt this way.
  19. Here's the link: http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/st ... index.html I did a few things different like substituting the recipe card boxes with project boxes from Radio Shack, adding a flashing red LED, and figuring out a different way to mount the tube.
  20. This was built from the tutorial at Studio Creations with a few modifications. http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/710/weatheredpack.jpg The pvc tube I initially used was proving to be too heavy, then TK412 recommended the "Alvin Ice" tubes. They are a fraction of the weight of pvc, however not cheap...about 15 bones. They can be found at drafting supply stores and art supply stores.
  21. Very nice! Does an assembly tutorial exist somewhere?
  22. The colors look fine to me...keep 'em.
  23. 257 reporting... The site looks great!! Where can I find those cool Sandtrooper avatars?
