  1. Saturday sounds like the easiest to do considering we're all gonna be there anyway. Even if we can't get the offcial photographer to stick around for us, I'm sure one of us will be bringing a a good camera that can take a high-res picture. I'm also pretty sure one of us knows someone who isn't in armor that can take the picture.
  2. Ooops...looks like I was a bad little Sandtrooper. I'll have to retake the pix in a higher resolution...after I repair my codpiece. I had a slight malfunction at my last event.
  3. Kevin, I just emailed you my pix for deployment.
  4. I meant I'm all for removing them from my armor...which I did. The drop boxes should be an optional piece of equipment. There...thats more clear.
  5. I wasn't aware that the add-ins were ROTJ suits with incorrect parts. Then I'm all for removing them. At least this mod isn't going to cost anyone any money.
  6. Is the drop box issue worth starting a poll about, or does the detachment CO have an opinion on this?
  7. Welcome aboard. Post some pictures over in the photo gallery of your progress if you like.
  8. I seem to recall reading somewhere around here or the Yahoo boards that either style of handback is okay because both show up on the sandtroopers. The drop box question is a good one...there are numerous screen shots showing no drop box, but then there are also some that do show the drop boxes. That's not an issue we've taken up around here.
  9. I'm going to assume you're already in the Legion with an approved costume. If you're looking to join the MEPD you'll need to click on the Mos Eisley PD link at tht top of the page to see what the requirements are. I'm afraid they don't mention anything other than canon OT Sandtrooper. I certainly don't want to stifle your creativity, so if you're stoked about doing a Sandscout...go for it. I'd love to see the pix when its done.
  10. It also helps to specifically identify the core issue...money, time, etc.
  11. Try to include her in as much of this endeavor as you can. My wife attends some events with me in the indispensible role of "trooper handler". She volunteers to hold things, take pictures, and performs the crucial "costume check". She also loves to watch the reaction we get from people...especially kids. Assure her that you won't be attending every event in your garrison and you won't be ignoring her.
  12. I used rivets for mine and haven't had a problem with them coming off...the strap material is some pretty heavy webbing material. I'm curious as to what method you finally used. I may want to redo my straps if I can get those rivets out...they're in there pretty tight.
  13. I'm talking about the long black tube that runs down the right side of the pack...I don't know the technical name for it. Looking at picture 4 in your album, I can't see the bottom of the tube...it looks kinda long. I wouldn't dissassemble anything until you have your armor built and can try it on. It may sit just fine on your back.
  14. Welcome aboard, and a most impressive job of sculpting and forming. You are quite talented if you can do all that stuff.
  15. Add some dirt, grease, flaked paint, and some rust and it should be fine. I like the use of the real water too. I couldn't tell how far down the tube went, but if the pack sits flat on your back, the tube might interfere with walking. BTW in the "photo gallery" section, you should be able to upload your photos.
  16. Got a toy fair and donation drive coming up this weekend in Chicago.
  17. My pack will most likely always be a work in progress. I'm constantly looking at pieces of this and parts of that and trying to think of ways to use them. My name is TD257, and I'm a....costumer.
  18. Just the regular alphabet for the very reasons you described.
  19. www.tk409.com is a good place to start. The site and his links should direct you to everything you need.
  20. For my money, the best looking diamond plates I've seen have been "scratch-built".
  21. Payment sent...long live Santrooper.net
  22. Where are we now, and what do we need for what?

    Hello

The experience you'll get with adhesives, building materials, and tools will really help you when the time comes to build your armor. Good luck.
