  1. Go big or go home!! Looks good.
  2. I seem to recall seeing something on the news in Indy during the con about wanting to expand or rebuild. Of course money was the issue.
  3. Thanks...yeah, I just posted some pix in the member gallery section.
  4. I've got one attached to my backpack strap for the chest pouch. If I get another one I'll put it on my belt. I've got a generic pouch attached to my lower pack strap for keys, wallet, glasses..etc.
  5. I've got a Cushman MG-34. I bought the completed model as I was under some time constraints and wouldn't have time to build it before an event. It's just an OK rendition. The detail isn't as sharp as I was hoping, but it looks okay from a distance. It also has some fairly obvious seams in the plastic that could stand to be dremeled off. The paint job was very good in my opinion. If you're handy with tools and have the time, I'd say use the Imperial Fleet tutorial.

    How old?

38, and still the same kid who was mesmerized by what was unfolding on the screen back in 1977,
  7. Yeah, thats me right behind you. Your weathering looks really good. I went the tempera paint route too, but I didn't use any yellow....yet.
  8. I did exactly what your diagram shows, but instead of corners, I rounded the edges to smooth it out. It still cuts some, but not enough to leave trooper tracks.
  9. Model railroad supply shops should be well stocked with varying thicknesses of styrene sheets. You probably will want the thickest they have.
  10. I'm not sure if there was an MEPD photo taken either. Unfortunately I had to jet out of there right after the Legion pic and check out of my hotel.
  11. I can highly recommend the ROM/FX board as well. It's worth the money.
  12. You've come to the right place. Welcome.
  13. I remember that pack and armband...I think I was marching behind you for one of the parades.
  14. I'm fortunate enough to be able to drive, so unless I can cram my armor into a BIG softsided suitcase, I'll have to use the Sterilite box with wheels. There are four people going in my truck so I'll have to be creative with packing everything.
  15. Many thanks to all those who got this detachment resurrected. You've done a great job. To see how I'll be "flying the colors" of the MEPD, check out TD257's album. See you all at C3.
  16. If you go the rivet route, make sure you use the little steel washers too.
  17. I also heard that Padme actually becomes Vader in a colossal gender-bending plot twist.
  18. After mounting my ammo pouch on the strap of my backpack, I have to say it worked better than I had hoped. I had no problems with it pulling my chest plate down farther to one side than the other, and I was able to turn my head without bumping it. I think I'll stick with this configuration.
  19. I swear by the long elastic strap riveted to the shoulder strap, Plastic-welded to the shoulder bell, then Plastic-welded to the inside of the biceps piece. I have had zero malfunctions in nearly a year-and-a-half of trooping. At yesterday's "48 hours of the Force" at Wal-Mart, I had to re-attach a troopers snap-on shoulder bells twice.
  20. ...and make sure your boots fit right. Leave room for gel-insoles.
  21. I picked up the MG-34 from the post office yesterday. I'll give it a C+ grade. I had it built for me because I just wouldn't have the time right now with all the other projects I have going on. The seller/builder added a pvc pipe to the inner barrel and drilled out the holes in the outer barrel. He also added some foam material inside to give it some weight. It's still very light and won't be tiring to carry around. It is styrene plastic and may break if it takes a good hit though. The detailing isn't quite as pronounced as I was hoping for...might be just a characteristic of this type of casting. There is a little clean-up work to do...some excess plastic I can Dremel off easily...and a seam that runs down the length of the barrel. He did a really good job of painting and weathering the gun though, and I think it will look good in pix and to the casual observer. Overall I'm happy with it, and will troop with it. I'll post some pix in my album when I get a chance.
  22. I guess it does as well, but for the purist only the OT will be truly canon. My position is that if the basic requirements that we have now are adhered to then thats good enough. If someone wants to go the extra mile with the flat shoulder straps and no pin stripes on the helmet...great. Lets keep this fun and not too restrictive.
