  1. Looks good, but maybe ease up on some of the darkest black areas. I don't know what sort of "coloring agent" you used, but if it's water soluble, try diluting the paint with some water and lightening it up a bit...just my two cents.

  2. My first neckseal was a turtleneck shirt/sweater thing. The shirt had gotten too small for me...or I had gotten too large for it...yeah, thats it. I cut the neck part and some of the shirt out and voila...instant poor-man's neck seal.

  3. My suggestion would be to take an active role in repairing or modding the suit. You'll gain valuable experience in the wide world of costuming. Theres nothing like putting a suit together from scratch, but any work done along those lines will help when you want to branch out and do another costume.

    Good luck troop...

  4. Welcome Chip...good to have another Midwest Garrison trooper in the sandbox.

I used tempera paint not because I plan on going back to "tidy whitey" anytime soon, it's very easy and forgiving to work with.

Can't help ya on the backpack frame...mine doesn't have one.

  5. I live a couple of hours north of Sacramento in a town called Redding. There might be fans up but they don't show it.

Yeah, you might be hard-pressed to find folks up in Redding. I know there a quite a few troopers in the Sacramento area. I'm not sure if thats the Golden Gate Garrison or the Central California Garrison. Hopefully someone there will help you out. You could also try the Southern California Garrison.
