  5. Finally finished my backpack, hope you like. The only thing I'll probably add later is the new radio faceplate and small knobs when they become available. Thanks to all the great tutorials and posts. Now it's off to do my Lewis! 6. "Shoulder straps, details on the ab section." Are you not making this suit into a Sandtrooper? Tim
  7. Plastic weld, thats the other plastic welder brand, Its just like the Proweld and Tenax I mentioned. Any of those will do. Make sure you clamp your pieces and run this stuff along the seam, It'll get sucked between the two pieces your trying to "weld" that way, It's called "capillary" action. http://www.hoslotcarracing.com/image/Chemistry/PlastructPlasticWeld.jpg http://www.woodcraft.com/Images/products/843546.jpg http://www.nscalesupply.com/TEN/TEN.html
  8. Proweld is a styrene/ABS glue that you brush on the seam of 2 joints and because its the consistency of water it gets sucked into the joint, fusing the 2 pieces together. I would avoid superglues cause they don't actually bond the plastic together. There are other brands. Tenax is one. Most good hobby shops should have it. Use your own judgement for the sandpaper grade, nothing too course. Plus use a block of wood with the sandpaper wrapped around it to sand straight. Take your time and if your losing patience, walk away and do it another time. Believe me its better to take longer on this stuff than rush through and mess it all up. Good luck, Tim
  9. I used a dremil with a cutoff wheel to trim my AP down to about 1/16 away from where I needed to eventually be then sanded. Use blue painters tape to keep track of where your cutting / sanding to. I used proweld to join the abs where the strips attach and E6000 for heavier gluing like when you mount the snaps for the strapping. Tim
  10. Here's another MEPD recruitment poster. Tim http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x144/trixie05_2007/newposterweb.jpg
  11. Heres some pics of my pack in the process of getting weathered. I worked on the radio today. Using the reference pics of the Sonix radio I fabricated and cast the big knob. It doesn't have the serrations on the sloped part but a thought it came out pretty good. 22. I found a washer hose today at Lowes that looks pretty good for the exhaust thingy. The end is a little tapered but I think it's close. Tim http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x144/trixie05_2007/exhaust22.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x144/trixie05_2007/exhaust11.jpg
