  1. I used Krylon "SUEDE" and a touch of Walmat 97cent flat black . Working in area that I thought would clooect dirt from sweat and just plain old can't get clean spots. Working on one piece at a time would mist the area that I thought would collect the dust and dirt. Then apply a few more layers to where the dirt I wanted to be the heaviest. Then if I wanted a little Carbon scoreing I very lightly hit it wit a shot of flt blk. then I wet sanded in a circular motion to get the desired effect. I liked this paint because it has a little texture to it. On the helmet you will see a rust looking color which awas a rust primer . but I stoped useing it because it did not look right to me. Now this is just my personal view. Sand troopers a not slobs. Now we may have a few violations in our jackets that got us stationed to the Arm Pit of the gallaxy, but we are still soldiers of the Empire and must report to our C.O. or X.O. So I belaeve that we would still try to do a quick wipe down to look as smart as possible , to maybe get that transfer to Endor. I guess what I am saying is a little dirt gos a long way. It would be interesting to get other views on whow much is enough.
  2. Sent off the required photos to the Central Garrison. I would also like to enlist in the MEPD . Who will I report to when I recieve my tk/td #
  3. OK, That was fun. This was the fist time that I had all of the armor on. Things that I learned and can fix. 1. My ammo pouch riding up under my helmet(removed it for photo) 2. Armor must be put on in an exact order. 3. sweat 4 pinching= trimming 5.sweating 6. fans are a must 6.did I say pinching and sweating Now for something i don't no how to fix. My chest plate keeps pushing my helmet up and I can not see.
  4. Did not the Swiss have one that was very simular, and it would be a lot cheaper, and easier to find.
  5. And I almost forgot to mention the back pack!
  6. The hard armor is finished, and weathered. All of the snap system is in exept for two snaps on the thigh armor garder belt straps. I am waiting untill I get my body suit to set the length. And I will get some photos to the 501st HQ for my TK/TD#. Now for my MEPD application, can some one tell me the procedure. I think I have everything I need . Flat lenses TD AB plate Ammo pouch Knee plate BFG's Binoculars Pauldon Oh, and Dirt
  7. She said she would be an armor wrangler. But that was it.
  8. Started weathering , so I guess I will order my body suit this week. My wife looked at me the other night and giggled and walked off, when I was doing a test fit. When I went and asked her what was so funny she said " you're just a big 45 year old kid." So is that wrong I said. "No, I am just glad to see you have found something that you enjoy." Thank you all, for the help you have given me in something that I do enjoy. And may this hobby build many friendships. Enough of this, lets all go shoot up a Sandcrawler.
  9. Left this mod for last, the one I was most worried about was the easiest.
  10. Finished up the construction of the armor this evening , but have a problem. The left thigh piece went into a flat oval. and I can not get it round. I have heated shaped over and over and it just will not round out . I can live with it but it just bugs me . And too I scared myself when the inside lip curled up form the heat, Dodged a blaster bolt there. Any ideas?
  11. Thanks Guy, I will stick to my date of April 15. So I won't go tearing in to the Oreos just yet. I have waited this long to finish the Armor up. I can hold out a few more weeks. (stay on target) just a few more... ( stay on target) just a......AARRGHHHHHHhhhhhhhh...........
  12. Here is a photo of the heavy duty suspenders I got at Home Depot. I went with them not for the heavy duty part but for the width for comfort, and the clasps woked well for the attachment I wanted to use . Anice clean cut slot in the armor and snap. I do have a question How big does a person have to be before they look ridiculas in the armor. As you all know by now I am wanting to loose some weight before the final assembly. I am 6'1" amd have a 40 " waist. I have heard the phrase everybody looks good in the armor. but where is the line? And what do I need to get down to, so I won't stand out in a unit.
  13. Thanks to "old sarge" for the specs. Just doing some odds and ends while trying to loose some weight before I dosome shim work and dirty it up. [/img]
  14. I want to make sure I understand this procedure befor I try it on my armor. The mustard is applied to the armor in a random pattern, let dry and it acts as a friskit or mask when painting the earth tones and blast burns to the armor . Then the mustard that protected the armor from the unwanted paint is simply wiped away.

  16. The Granddaughter moved to another room in the house ,so I got dibs on the vacant one . A little wall art and a new floor this weekend it will be ready for all my stuff.
  17. Looks good , can't wait to get mine done. Congradulations, well done.
  18. Just for the record, I want it to known that I did not want to be found guility of crimes of vice against the Empire. I deleated my cannister, and being new to duty only had two titles. Darth's Vader and The Empire Got's Back. Didn't want Mom to get it with my effects if I were to be killed by some Law Breaker or Low life Rebel.
  19. My Granddaughter wanted a pair of binoculars for herself, and the other day while shopping at Walmat I saw something that I thought would work. Here is my shopping list: 1. A waste basket from the automoyive section.- body 2. ring picture hangors- strap rings 3. rubber leg covers- eye pieces 4. furniture leg coasters.-base for eye pieces 5. chair leg ***** that prevent scuffing of wooden floors.- control buttons 6. 1"x6" about 12 inches long - plate for eye pieces And from the hard wear store acouple of pvc fittings for the lens pieces. All for under $10.00 Then just prime and paint metalic so you can weather it by rubbig the high spots with candle . S spray it white and gently sand with a fine gritt the white off the high points to knock the painted wax off to reveal the metal color below. Will post the painted piece latter. Hope this helps . The rubber chair legs do nit paint they will stay stickey. Put them on after you have painted then dirty them with the rest of the piece
  20. Can I just use one of the drop boxes to cover up the center panelof button holes. By cutting down the depth of the box its all most a perfect fit. and i can cover up the stip of button holes with sheet stock. do you guys think this wold be an ok mod for the TD ab plate. Also did anybody have to do a lot of shim work. Looks like I will have to shim the biseps and the calves any Ideas on the best way.
  21. Currently on ebay there is a pauldron /ammo pouch rig for sale
  22. I ordered an amp from Trik Toys. They were very very helpful. I could not figure out how to mount the speakers in the areators, they were different than the areators in directions TT had sent me. Anyway I will get different ones another day. I mounted the fan in the center of the grin, and the speakers on each side of the fan. The head set came broken from the mic. ( tric toys did offer to replace it) But sence I wanted to mount it in the helmet I had no problem with with this. The AMP I left in the case and mounted up by my head band. (I used foam rubber)I cut and soldered my wires . be care full of the black switch cord there are two wires in there. One is very small and fine. I did not want a big bundle of wire .I hot glued the base of the mic in the cheek well of the helmet, And pop rivited two battery clips on the back lip of the helmet, for the fans. I first had painted the inside of the helmet to prevent light frm reflecting around in there. After all the wired I covered the wires with black duct tape.I took alot of ideas form differt Troopers on the web . Use the ones that work best for you and let us know how it went.
  23. Its all in and it all works. Now I am protected, staying cool and loud.
  24. I found out what the problem was with the amp, It was me. Trik Toy's was very very helpful and patient in helping me trouble shoot my system.Off to work on the sound system ,so I can notify law breakers they are under arrest.
