Bonded Hawk
A while back I got a casting of a mg-15 drum from someone off of the Dented Helmet. The casting is a little thin and fragile. There is a small hole in the hollow drum. Is there anything I can fill it with that will sturdy it up, while not making it too heavy? thanks BH
Smally
Any pics to assist us Steve?
Bonded Hawk
here is a shot of the drum. I'm not so worried about the hole, I just would like to fill or reinforce the drum from the inside.
Smally
So are you wanting to ill the drum or the hole? If you're thinking of filling the drum, what about expanding foam? It hardens as it dries.
Bonded Hawk
I'll plug up the hoke later. Now I want to sturdy up the drum. Foam not a bad idea. Will that put too much force on the drum from the inside?
Smally
Maybe, but it all depends on what the drum is made out of.

inglorious trooper
you could add a small amount of foam inside, and add to it bit by bit, just a thought!
Bonded Hawk
I'll try that and see what happens I guess. It will be a few days though.
Giftshopduane
mix up some epoxy, something relatively thin, marine epoxy or the like.. pour some, then tape over the hole and lay the piece upside down so it runs and fill the hole. Pull off the tape and clean it up. Were there more for sale or was this a one off casting?
Bonded Hawk
Its filled with expanding foam now. The guy I got this from said he only had one more and he was going to use it for himself. Keep looking though, this one took me by suprise when I saw it for sale.
