  1. Well my brothers, I've finally done it! Yesterday, I became a fully approved 501st TD! Thanks again to everyone of you who helped to get me here! For your viewing pleasure are the photos from my shoot in my sister's school photo studio. I hope I make you all proud! Backpack detailed: Ab plate detail: Hope you all like!
  2. Rest in peace brother, you have earned your rest...
  3. Thanks for the tips Rick! I've sanded down the helmet, and you're right-it looks way better! I'll update the thread after I take my 501st acceptance pics
  4. Thanks for the great reception everyone! Just out of curiousity, would the weathering on this armour be too extreme for Police Officer requirements? I've seen a few people get in with some intense designs, so I'd like to know whether or not I can get by as well!
  5. Well my fellow troopers, after months of hard work, I think I'm finally worth to join the ranks of the sandtroopers! After being a clean and white TK for a couple of years, I decided it was time to promote myself, and with the purchase of a backpack from a fellow 501st member, my journey began. I would like to thank all the members of both the FISD and MEPD for their help in me realizing this dream! Official application photos will come next week, but for now, I hope my phone photos provide some enjoyment for you. I hope to do you all proud when I am officially made a TD! Raising the brow of my MRCE, in order to fit in with the sandies more: Done! And erased the navy stripes to make way for nice new light blue decals. Some beautiful pouches arrive, along with an even more beautiful pauldron! At this point, I briefly consider calling it a day and going Heavy Weapons Trooper: ...Nah Let the weathering begin! I decided to use the fuller's earth and spraypaint method, as I like the idea of using "real" sand. Thanks again to trooperbay! Base coat of black to the thighs: Likewise for my ab piece (special thanks to TM for the replacement TD parts, worked like a charm!): After my second coat of colour. Probably too dirty at this point...but I can't help but keep going Getting my helmet ready for weathering, gotta keep the openings clean! And DONE! The amount of dirt I have on is a bit excessive I'll admit (as I said, this was my first time doing anything like this) but I hope that over time it will rub off, just like real sand would Thanks again for your help everyone! Hope to see you all out there soon!
  6. I just made a similar decision Matt, and I'm having a blast! Best of luck brother.
  7. This is so cool! It's like each one of us 501st members behind the helmet
  8. What I like to do is instead of using mesh or wearing a balaclava, I put balaclava-like material (black elastic cotton) over my teeth instead. The results are pretty great
  9. Fantastic work Rolf! I hope I can achieve similar success
  10. Snaps are easy to change? That would be great, are there any tutorials around?
  11. Hmm, the HWT CRL clearly has the buttons backwards as well, but I can't tell with the TD one...
  12. Looks like I'll be alright! A lot of troopers seem to have their snaps backwards, as well as in this photo of a movie pauldron, the snaps are backwards as well. That's a relief!
  13. Hi there MEPD, I recently purchased a pauldron from http://www.shoulderpauldrons.com/ and while I love the quality, the buttons that close the pauldron are facing backwards! Is this going to be a problem in getting approved?
