  1. Hey all, sorry for the disappearing act there. I've been wrapped up at work, its the busy season with everyone getting sick and all (Healthcare worker). Also, I've been putting together a TX kit with a new garrison member, been eating up all my time to work on my own projects. I'm gonna trim up my belt this weekend and order some new pouches real soon. I'll have that neck seal pic retaken at a troop this weekend too. That silly strap is most troublesome Thanks for posts and not forgetting about me, I certainly haven't forgotten the MEPD or what I need to do to get moving along. Thanks again, will have pics REAL soon.
  2. I'll take an exacto knife to the buttons and see if they pop off without too much grief. Sanding and painting won't be an issue, I'm just hoping the ABS backing and the HIPS belt don't part ways. Thanks man! I didn't even notice
  3. Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses, questions and compliments! I got some extra pics here today and painted a black strip on a single earbump, on each side of the bucket, as suggested. I am wearing a neck seal, in the goofy grin pic it should be visable. In a couple other pics, the leather strap from my macrobinoculars is visable along the neckseal. I normally wear a balaclava too, just in case the shorties can see up my helmet. Its the same neck seal I wear with my ESB TK, is there a difference between the two? As for the pouches, I followed a pattern I found on these forums to make them myself. Absolutely wonderful patterns. I forget who posted them, but I honestly wish I had his name to give him full credit... he did a great job. The pouches on my waist have rounded flaps, just not the shoulder pouch. If its required I can make the cuts np. The backpack is a wonderful build by Quarter Master. He kept building my pack through a natural disaster and still kept his high quality standards. Great guy! I hope he sees these pics and I have done his pack justice =) Here are the additional pics: I included pics of the lense, the elastic shoulder straps, belt pouches, rivets, and canvas belt. Thanks again for the input!
  4. Hello brothers and sisters! Got my sandy completed for C6, actually fininshed weathering it in my hotelroom opening day. What a mess! Been meaning to submit pics and try to get deployed for a while now, but work and what not made it rough before now. Anyway, here is my info and pics. I realise now I still need a pic showing the lense color and rivets on my clam shell... I'll take those pics tomorrow and add them in. Let me know if I need anything else! Thanks all! 7. Thanks Rolf! I saw that example chart on another thread, but again, seeing the lighter blue in the mix had me concerned my French Blue might not b the acceptable of the bunch I'll leave my bucket alone and cross my fingers they haven't changed requirements Thanks everyone who posted! I really appreciate the help and the conversations these boards provide. Take care and hope to c as many of ya as I can at Celebration this year!!!
  8. Well honesty, the pics of the original sandy helmet that was pulled from the dumpster, looks like it has #14 like paint for tube stripes. But the CRL and those absolutely awesome templates Pandatrooper posted, both display images of sandies with a brighter blue for tube stripes. I think both look fine, but I'm trying to actually build this suit to get Police Officer status. Gotta please those that must be pleased to do so, ya know I noticed quite a few older posts, under various threads that refer to the humbrol #14 as acceptable tube stripe color, but they were all from 2011 or earlier. I've been referencing the CRL for about a year now, this sandy project hit the back burner a couple times due to rl, and I think the description for the tube stripes changed at some point. Panda's templates have been around for a good minute too. When I couldn't find a clear answer, I posted the question. I guess I could ask my garrison leaders I c if they've had any issues with people getting accepted or denied due to tube stripe colors, lol. Those guys and gals are pretty busy tho. I'll start weathering the rest of the suit and keep asking around
  9. Thanks guys. I used the #15 for my ab buttons on my TK, the #14 is lighter than that, yet still darker than the light blue in the pics. But if the #14 is acceptable for Officer status, at the very least, then it works for me. I just wanted to get a heads up before I weather, otherwise repainting will take a bit longer than if i did it now... Thanks guys!
  10. Hey all, my sandy is ready for weathering, so close to being done. But as I'm sitting here looking at crl, I'm seeing the tube stripes appear much lighter in the pics than what I have painted on my bucket. I bought the humbrol kit for trooperbay, the lighter of the two blues is the French Blue, #14. Is that acceptable for all levels MEPD acceptance or am I gonna need to repaint? I c Mike also sells a Tester's Gloss Blue #1110, which looks like it matches the pics in the crl more accurately. Appreciate any/all responses and info.
  11. Yeah, the CRL only states: "Specific ammo pouches. Reproduction or original MP-40 ammo pouches are generally considered canon, made in either canvas or leather. Other acceptable names/designs include Stolla Wien, and the once common “Norwegian” green MP-40 pouches (shown), made in leather. These should be dyed or painted black" I got alot of raw materials hanging around and I'm ready to start cutting. Just wanted to ge tthe plan straight beforehand. Thanks again =)
  12. Excellent, that's what I was hoping. I haven't seen any pics which would contradict that assumption, just thought I'd ask the peeps that'd know best. Appreciate your input, thanks!
  13. Right, the shoulder pouch I plan to make is a 3+1 (shoulder pouch plus the tool kit). I've read the threads on canvas vrs leather, I applaud the tenacity of the research, but I think I'll stick with leather. It just looks more like the image I'm trying to recreate. What I need some light shed on though, is there a difference of structure or style of pouches between the shoulder and hip pouches? Would a 3-1 (or shoulder pouch minus the tool kit) suffice or be acceptable? Or is there a totally different pouch for the hip? thanks for your help!
  14. Hello all! Just getting my sandy under way and having a ton of fun reading all your threads! Treasure chest of fun info here, bravo! I've played with leather for my TK holster, was good fun. Would like to make my own ammo pouches as well, thanks for the awesome templates! Can't wait to give it a crack =) Just had one pressing question before I start though, lol. Is there a difference between the shoulder pouch and the hip pouches? Planning on doing the 3+1 for the shoulder and was just gonna do a 3 with vertical loops on the back for the hip pouches... Would love some insight here. Thanks all
