freakengine
I saw this auction on ebay, as I'm always looking around at the helmets for sale. It looks a little fishy, since the ears appear to be molded into the side of the helmet in one pic, but the build pic shows them as separate. Hmmm. Could be the original owner got duped, but I was wondering if anyone here could identify the molds used, assuming the completed pic is real. http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-ANH-Storm ... dZViewItem
bearden6521
It looks like a copy of an SDS IMO. But I'm not a bucket expert by any means. Maybe Jez can identify it...
SethB6025
It doesn't have the SDS ears. It looks kind of like a TE copy. The eye-hump looks exaggerated like on an RT mod, though this is clearly not one of those.
freakengine
My first impression was that it was a TE recast. I emailed the seller and he doesn't even know the difference between styrene and ABS, so I expect he's telling the truth about not being the one who made it. one mean mother
Hello to you all. I showed this auction link to TE and he said it is definitely an AP helmet copied in Styrene and as he said, 'done quite badly'. I hope this helps OMM
troopermaster
I think it's an AP too,but not sure if it's a recast or not.I can see that it is not glossy,so you can count out the usual AP but might be matt ABS?
freakengine
Interesting. It's amazing how many of these oddballs show up.
SethB6025
In the assembly picture its sitting on a home vac table. AP gets his stuff done professionally so I'd say its definitely a recast.
troopermaster
I think your right Seth.I never took any notice of the background and it sure does look like a forming table.
apex
It looks like an old paper cutter, not a vac table. apex
SethB6025
The paper cutter has holes in it I think those are guidelines, there are holes at every intersection. Whoever copied it did a better job than most of the recasts floating around out there.
tk-4224
Whoever copied it did a better job than most of the recasts floating around out there. copy that TE said it´s a bad copy? i think only the fact that it´s a possible recast makes it bad but it looks very nice i saw the seller is a member in the rpf and posted it in the junkyard maybe we can ask who made the pics of the helmet
Rolf
I also think is a AP copy. And a good one, but not as sharp as the AP. And not as glossy white as the AP.
