[Trimming ears from a TE2 helm kit? (PICS ADDED Apr 4)]

I finished the ears, and I must say they turned out better that the ones on my TE1 (pre assembled). I will take some pics tomorrow (wed).

I ended up using a utility knife, drill, tin snips, rasp, and sandpaper (no dremel) to trim out all parts of the helmet and it turned out great!

I noticed while working on this, that the TE1 has a sharper pull than the TE2 I'm not sure if this is always the case but it is very noticable here.

I just read that changes were made also. I wouldn't have a problem ordering extra to help out fellow US troopers, but If it's not the same then...

So anyone still have extra or any leads? I need enough for My TE1 & TE2.

Ok, I have the helm together (harder that I thought), now I need to work on trimming the ear covers, there doesn't appear to be any definite trim lines. Any advice or tips or online tuts about this?

What's the proper term, and is there a link to accurate stuff that is available to purchase?

Since this seems to be the brand that was used on troopers can someone tell me if you can buy it in the US?

Also what were the color names?

Are there any PMS chart numbers that match the correct Humbrol colors?

Just to clarify I want to do a comparison not just to each other but also against screen caps from ANH as well.

I wanted to try to do this not to start anything but to help some of the newer folks out (like myself). It seems it's like pulling teeth to get accurate and unbiased info. So if there were a single spot to go for a good comparison folks could make their own minds without having to wade through a bunch of, well you know.

BTW, may armor plans are a TE2 for display and a TM (once the flex material happens) for wearing.

Has anyone done a piece by piece photo comparison of ANH armors yet? If not I'd like to do one over the next week or two (or however long it takes to get appropriate pics).

At this point helmets aren't important (I'll save that one for later).

My impression was that Gino's came first froma ROTJ suit, then TE, then TE2? Anyone got a timeline for a newby?

I do want a TE2, I am currently rattling the appropriate cage but it's slow going so far.

I agree your stuff is great, but we can't get our hands on it, so we have to go one, two, three or even four steps down in accuracy to get what we want. It looks to me we have four attainable choices TE2, AP, TM, and SDS and debate the accuracy of those. So I think your stuff gets left out of some threads because, well, why bother if you can't get one anyway (sort of like throwing LFL suits in the mix)? We save your stuff for the dream threads.

Hello all!

New guy here, just wanted to say hi.

I'm one of those guys that was in line back in 77 (multiple times) to see SW. I guess I really never got over the experience because here I am 41 and still into it!

I have recently purchased an SPFX ANH and SDS Stunt & Hero buckets all still waiting to arrive.

My plans for the next couple years is to build a complete and accurate ANH Vader, ESB or ROTJ Vader, ANH Stormtrooper and R2D2. To that end I am tring to sign up at as many forums as possible.

Anyways, looking forward to digging through tons of info here and elsewhere!
