  1. Here is a pic of the Webers Trim. It measures 1/2 inch high and 7/16 wide (as you see it in pic). Here is the comparison photo.
  2. I just got some in and it works great! http://www.weberspump.com/acatalog/Rubber_Gaskets.html Item: WINDOW & AD GLASS RUBBER #RG102 I had to clean it up -- it came with some sort of powder all over it, so I just wiped it down with paint thinner and it looks primo! I also ordered some of the sealsdirect stuff 149 and 150 (should be here soon) and I will post comaprison pics then.
  3. Any updates as far as when they will have the new material? Also can someone PM me a contact, I can't seem to find the info sent to me before. Thanks. edit> [found it] Doug
  4. I have noticed (after looking through some real trooper pics) that some of the black wraps around to the inside (say 1/4 inch) on the stunts. The heros seem to have all black inner walls with white only at the interior base. Mesh -- Metal, brass colored or silver? I have both a cream colored resin with brass mesh and white resin with silver mesh. I tend to believe that it should be silver but I can't really confirm based on pics I've seen. **** the details!
  5. What is the general opinion on the color on the inside of the mic tips and the correct color for the mesh? I'm doubting that raw resin is correct? Thoughts? Doug
  6. Good job on the painting! As a side note, I'd trim the eyes out a bit more. Of course it's a personal preference thing.
  7. Here are some pics of my stripes testing. Note they are just paper prints taped on at this point. I am looking for input as to any changes to make. Measurements Left (looking at front of helmet) Length 90mm Rear stripe 16.4mm high front stripe 15.5mm high Right (looking at the front) Length 83mm, Rear stripe 16.4mm, front stripe 15.6mm I tapered the stripes (slightly) as you can see by my measurements it just seemed to look more like the photos I had as ref. I also angled the tops formard very slightly as well. LMK what you think and if you have more accurate info. Thanks.
  8. Thanks everyone for the tips (no pun intended). I think I'm going to try the glueing a flathead bolt method so I won't have to drill into the tips. Any suggestions as far as a glue for this method?
  9. Hey Clutch, tried that -- turns out they were just a couple of teases.
  10. Good ideas. Any idea how far I can screw into the mic before it punches through? Doug
  11. Mine don't have screws. Are you saying to screwinto the resin tips from inside the helmet, wouldn't that break the tips? I was assuming some sort of glue method? Maybe push the dimpled area from behind (kind of thin there) so it meets the tips better? Doug
  12. What is the best way to attach the mic tips to a TE helm? I notice that they don't fit flush -- kinda wobbly and lots of air space behind the tips. Any tips appreciated. Doug
  13. Thanks Captain! I noticed the color looks quite a bit different than what the preferred Humbrol #15 looks like. TK4510 - Well if I get these dialed in (color shape & size-wise) I can offer some as sticker or paint stencils. They would be custom fitted to the TE line (both sides are not the same). I will post my progress with photos as soon as I can.
  14. Update. First coat looks great (fusion gloss white). Doug
  15. ANH bucket stripes were painted, ESB & ROTJ had screenprinted decals. Doug
  16. What is the best for permanent adhesion for styrene? Looking at glueing styrene to styrene. Thanks. Doug
  17. Ok, now that I am painting my lids I plan on painting the tube stripes. I have a vinyl cutter (I'm a sign maker by trade) and I plan on making a vinyl stencil to mask the stripe for painting. I want to make these accurate but not as "wonky" as the original paint job. So my question what is the proper number on the real lids? The ref photos I have most seem to have 13 stripes per side (some 12 and some even more). I also noticed while working on my helms that each side has a different sized area where the stripes go so I will have to make two different length stencils. Does anyone have any really good, somewhat closeup shots of the stripes on the real helms? Thanks in advance. Doug
  18. Ok guys I ordered some (black, grey & blue). The only reason I ordered black was they had a $10 minimum. A question came to me about the black. Is there any special reason to use the Humbrol black, I mean does it have a special sheen or is it possible to have a different shade of black compared to say any modeling black? I am a sign painter by trade so I use "One Shot" Lettering Enamels in my work (great flow and great coverage) I plan on matching the Humbrol colors to my lettering enamels and getting proper PMS Color chart numbers as well. I will post the results here for future reference. Doug
  19. Just checked my paint sample againt the cap, and it's a match. So I guess the verdict is, Dover for TD & Gloss White for TK. Dover looks like an aged white (slighly yellowed like UV exposure), and Gloss White is fresh new white. Doug
  20. I have both Gloss White & Dover White Fusion paint, which are you folks using? I have done a test spray on a sheet of styrene and the Dover looks too beige to me, the Gloss White matches the acrylic capped ABS on my SDS lid although not as glossy. Does anyone recommend shooting a clear gloss to get the shine? I would think it should go this way, Glossy White for TK and Dover for a TD -- thoughts? Doug
  21. As a side note here are the tools I used to trim out the TE2 kit. Doug
