  1. I wouldn’t take this pauldron rank thing too serious as I really don’t believe the prop department guys had this in mind while filming. My guess is that when the actors dressed up for a upcoming scene they just grabbed what was available or advices by the prop department staff.
At least that is what I assume...
Most likely that is what happened, but, is cool imagine a logic to this

  2. There were various mixed up armors, helmets, pauldrons and backpacks from scene to scene.
Alright, is a thing that i can imagine happening, now, how do i know, for example the sergeant in the cantina, how can i know how the wethering is? The pouch he is carrying?

Wait!, i know what you may be thinking... the MEPD image that says all the configs, yes i have those images, but how do the people that create those images know that? Is not fetured in the movie, same with the captain in the dunes.8bf9d735fcf02cb1d237e8dea77e32eb.jpg

  3. While I realize it's far to late to change, I think no pauldron should be private and black pauldron should be assistant squad leader or Corporal. When I was a cadet, pauldrons were only issued to NCOs. You don't need to put a pauldron on the lowest rank. They are easy to recognize as the guys without them.
Alternatively, they could be used to mark Privates assigned to a specific task. I.E. the Privates in Platoon One wear no pauldrons and those in Platoon Two wear black. Third Platoon wears grey, etc. With this route, white would make sense as assistant squad leader and orange as Sargeant. The problem with orange as Captain is that every third TD in the film seemed to be a Captain. Even as Sargeant, that's a bit of a stretch.
    Darn. I overthought this, didn't I?
I like your approach to the pauldron situation, too many captains, may be a way to differentiate the troopers unit

  4. Hey folks!.

I think this is gonna be my swat armor, but reviewing all the TD scenes in ANH confusing things start to pop up, ill try to make some sense while describing what in seeing

    - the white pauldron he is wearing in the scene of the screenshot i thin is the same as the "look sir droids, and the cantina sergeant and one of the trooper in the bay 94 shoot out, but is no the same guys, or at least not the same armor... Or is it?.

    - the helmet is not heavely weathered thing that i like, but it seems like in the 94 bay shoot out is a different trooper wearing it.

The thing is, ¿am i right or is just my imagination?

¿Is there some bts pic of that guys to take a look at the full armor? If not all, some more at least.

And one more thing, with the cantina white pauldron trooper, there no way to see the weathering of that guy, what does that mean?, Do i have the freedom of do the weathering as i like

  5. Hi guys, how are you doing?.

Did you know that there is a code for colours?, is the United States federal standard for colours.

Very useful, because no matter the brand or name given to the color for the brand, the color will be exactly the same when used, as long as the FS code is the same.

Does anyone have the FS (federal standart) number of the grey and blue color for the details in the helmet?

    Recommended brands?

  6. Hey guys! how are you doing?

This is a post to show my new handguards, bought from welshchris77

I must say, this are the most beautiful handguards i have ever seen, that's what called my attention in the first place, beautifully crafted and besides that Chris uses a procedure to increase the tear resistant of the piece, also he adds a thin piece of fabric (which i don't remember the name) under the handguard to facilitate the gluing with the glove.

Something important for those looking to reach higher levels inside the legion (police officer & swat), is that these will help you to get there, according to Chris he reach out to Hausi to ask him about the approvability of his creation and he got a positive answer.

I totally recommend these, affordable price, good construction, beautiful and level 3 approvable if weathered correctly.

Please bros, show yours handguards here, i would like to see them, any comments, question, experiences with handguards that can help the newbies and future legionnaires are welcome here.

I did and unboxing but haven't upload de vid, soon i will edit this post to put the link55f46605dbaec15f99ce4e0061c8bdca.jpgaab4efe35d2f84148434f188194bbb13.jpg

  7. Greetings from Escondido, Ca. My name is Dennis. I have wanted to join the 501st for a few years now but never took the plunge. I have always enjoyed the Star Wars films and try to watch them whenever possible. My wife has urged me to take the plunge and get started on a costume. I am looking at starting with a Sand Trooper. I was looking at getting a full set from RS propmasters. I am open to any and all suggestions as I have never had or made a costume before.
Hey brother, Im in the same situation as you, but maybe your don't have a 501st legionnaires taking your almost by the hand through the right path as i have.

I gonna tell you my plan so far...

As you, im gonna be a sandtrooper, i bought my armor to troopermaster, very nice guy, you cam contact him via his facebook page, TM armors are one of the most screen accurate armors you can buy, is a fan sculp, but, is one if the most respected among the 501st, right now he has a little problem with his abs supply but we hope it will be solve soon

RS armors are as well very respected armors, you can't go wrong with them, i did not choose them because it seems that TM armors though are a fan sculp, surprisingly, people says is a touch more screen accurate, specially for ANH; and i found out that the armor that RS used to produce theirs armors had 2 right arms, they had to sculp the left arms and sometimes it looks weird, maybe they already fixed this.

Anyway, read in the FISD forum the thread about where to buy and where not to buy armors to be fully aware of your options.

I highly recommend you that if you are gonna go with a new expensive high estimated armor for the community, aim from the very beginning to take it to level 3 (swat), think and do everything aiming to swat level, that's what im doing, that is what a 502st member recommend me.

Think about everything you will need in order to get there (level 3), the handguards, weathering, weapon, belt, the backpack, everything you buy has to be level 3 approvable, or at least potentially approvable, because for example, to get to police officer, you will need a screen accurate backpack and the weapon will be evaluated as well, the handguards needs to be latex or latex like material mot plastic, so choose wisely bro.

In level 3, you will have to choose a sandtrooper from the movie and emulate him as best as possible, in EVERYTHING, including weathering.

In the MEPD forum you can find everything you could possibly need to know about sandtroopers armors, and if not, ask, somenone will answer you.

  8. @Sn4k3 fullers earth is a product used in train modeling and a handful of other applications. It’s basically just super finely ground rock shale that comes in different earth tones, hence the “earth” part. You can get bags of it from any hobby store. The hairspray is lightly sprayed on an armor piece and left until it’s tacky, then you sprinkle fullers earth into it and it will stick to the hairspray, but it’s easy to brush off where you do and don’t want it, then do another layer. If done right it can be really really convincing especially up close. I love the acrylic method, but on my armor for example, if you look closely you can guess how it’s done. Less so with fullers earth. But with skill either method can be incredible!

  9. I don’t know if you could get it down to 2 kilos.  The toilet siphon weighs about .3 of a kilo. The frame, depending on what you end up using may weight a kilo.
I know a few of our garrison members that do have PO status, but do not wear their pack at troops.
Bluey, a former member here and of our garrison and one of the people who created SWAT. I saw him wearing a pack maybe once.
Im not sure about how others do it.
Thanks Fraulein, I'll try to do that, find very lightweight materials.

I asked to a friend in the Venezuela garrison the same thing and he told me that even if im a TD Swat trooper with no back pack, i have to use one in official events, he said: "official like, you know, diney official, but in regular events you don't have to"
