labour of love.
Amazing patience to keep at it, but well worth it. The result is stunning. thanks for sharing

very nice!
Enjoy your spring trooping

I managed to find some suitable bottles and what I think is matching bluemilk to go in them.
Just need to get them dirty and fix them on the pack and I should be ready to start my PO application thread...

Desert Scorpions would be by far the best choice.
......Just realised there's a squad called 'Desert Scorpions' (embarrassingly they're even part of my own Garrison - 00ps!). I assume that would prevent it being an option anyway?

Desert Scorpions would be by far the best choice.
A couple of other suggestions
The Armadillo's
The Meerkats
But Scorpions has a much more menacing aura -
Thanks Jason.
The kit was from RS so I'm surprised they're not the right ones but I'll look into what is here in Oz. Appreciate your eye for detail.
I assume the monitor wipe containers will be reasonably similar in size to everywhere else and good enough.

OK.
Let's do this, my soon-to-be fellow dirty troopers....
Please let me have any feedback on the photo's. Mainly for basic approval, but also anything you can spot that would prevent PO approval down the track too would be appreciated.
I may have to take some different photos if these aren't good enough. (FYI this is an RS Propmasters commissioned kit)
Thanks in advance
I had a couple of issues when kitting up which I wouldn't mind some guidance on.
- one of my shin pieces keeps riding up and twisting around when I move - is there a trick to stopping this?
- The ammo pouches I got have slanted connection hooks on the backs, but they don't logically thread around anything - Am I missing something or do I need different ammo pouches?
Let me know your thoughts on the potential submission pics... thanks,
-
Well I've been patrolling (stalking) around here for a few weeks now. Reading/watching/learning and completely being in awe of the amazing work you guys/girls have done on your kits.
I've been waiting for my TD order to arrive from RS Prop Masters and they've finally let me know that it's on the way and due to arrive down here in 'kind-of-Sandy' Melbourne this week.
So I thought it would be a good time to start a build thread.
I've been pulling together some of the non-includeds while waiting - such as a couple of fans, Mic, speaker, balaclava etc. so they're already here waiting too.
I struggle for enough available time, and I can get very impatient once I've decided I want something bad enough, so I ordered a custom built kit from RS.
Hopefully I don't have too many adjustments to make before I get it to approval status and start representing the great MEPD (and 501st obviously!) on local troops....
All being well I'll have a further update later in the week.

Always great news welcoming a newbie... Congratulations
-
What made you choose the RS kit over say the WTF or ATA kits? Was it the package that includes most everything or something else? Thanks.
Mostly reputation as a fully assembled kit builder from FISD's forum, but also the complete package.
I'm pretty time poor myself to get to building anything and am also impatient to get trooping asap so this was the best choice - for me.
-
....
The appeal of the RS kit for me is that it comes with the blaster, pauldron, and pack.. and I'm guessing they will sell you the soft goods kit even if you don't buy the complete finished kit. I'd like to go for SWAT out the gate and I was thinking the desert sergeant. I wasn't sure though if RS only has the orange pauldron and if that is the correct pack with the kit. Also, looking at their pics, I think I'd still have to get some pouches and whatnot...
I have an RS kit currently underway. They have Orange, Black or White pauldrons available. You can specify which one you want when you send them your final measurements and details (which they will ask you for by return email once you've committed to buying).
I'm not going for SWAT straight off the bat, so can't categorically say their supplied pouches are enough, but they do come with some already. -
I know I'm only new to all this, but this is all very exciting!!

This is a good pick up Scousetrooper . Even if you look at the lighting on the right of their helmets it's identical.
However, isn't it the trooper on the right that's been photoshopped and is copy of the guy on the left? Maybe to cover something up on the trooper that's partially hidden.
Plus you can see more of the left trooper, so it would be easier to copy and bring him backwards, than copy the right trooper and add legs and extend the antenna (unless it's a cropped photo I suppose).
I'm along ways of being a photoshop expert, so you may well be right, but seems suspicious.

Welcome Nick & Steve!
Nick: Are you moving out of Alaska? Military? Why not do both?
Steve: What do you need to do in order to get your Maul up to specs? There's a lot of great Sandies down under that can help you out too.
Looking forward to seeing both of your build threads!
To be honest, thats what I need to work out. I bought the costume online a couple of years ago so I 'assume' it'll be below par (close enough to the layman and for some fun cosplay, but unlikely to meet 501st requirements).
I'll sift through the CRL in detail and see what I can spot that needs replacing/upgrading.
My priority is the Sandie, so that'll be tbe first one you all see.
Thx Steve -
Hi Troopers,
My name is Steve and I'm joining from Melbourne (The Australian one...).
I have a kit on it's way from RS Props so hopefully I don't have too much to do to it to start working my way up the ranks - and maybe one day to S.W.A.T.
I already have an unapproved Darth Maul costume I've used for cosplay events, but I've decided to head down the Sandie route to 501st approval as my first choice... (fingers crossed).
Super excited about joining, as I've made excuses why not to for years, but now is the right time and I can't wait to be able to start trooping (and joining in some of the extremely interesting forum discussions).

Thank you for your quick turn-around and feedback.
Ironic that using actual sand has made my weathering look non-sand like but I take the point you're making. I have sone acrylic paints I can add to this with over the next couple of days.
I'll also provide the extra photo requested- I assume you mean behind the pouch on my right side?
Let me know if this your final decision on the Pauldron for PO. I fully appreciate it's not for SWAT, but maybe ok for PO?
Next update will be in a couple of days. Cheers!
