  1. Ok so I took all the opinions and put them together. So hopefully these look right. I may trim the bottoms a little more once I'm 100% sure they are on the correct sides and such. Once I see green across the board I will finalize trimming and put the coverstrips on. So what do y'all think?
  2. Well fingers crossed on that. Seems like I annoyed someone on fisd , so gonna ease off there for a bit. At least until I'm past these darn shins.
  3. Ok so I have switched the shins back and forth, switched inside and outer, and still cannot find what feels and looks best on my shins. Either my calf muscles are too large or at least one of these shins is an oddball. I'm worried its gonna be worse when I try to start trimming them to fit over the boots. Any suggestions?
  4. Oh I'm very excited for the weathering portion. I have been looking at many different styles and found one I like. Sadly I won't be able to get swat as I wont be going for the roadblock sergeant as originally planned. But I will have a unique sandy nonetheless.
  5. Hey just a shout out to you guys. It may not seem like much, but I value each response. Each time I get on here and see a new post it gives me that motivation to keep pushing forward. It also sometimes really helps to see something from another perspective. My biggest fear is to get to the finish line and find out I have to fix something major that could have been prevented in the build stage. I also do as much research as I can find with google and such as well. I dont always hop on here to ask arbitrary questions. (Not always. XD) With that being said tonight is just gluing on the outer cover strips for the forearms. So nothing too big. Also hopefully by this weekend I can finish up the shins and finalize the thighs. After that it's down to adjustments in the strapping and maybe adding double snaps in some areas.
  6. That's good enough for me to move forward. Three forums and 24 hours isn't getting me many responses, so I'm gonna put my trust in you. Also thank you for being one of the few to help me a lot with this build. Also I went ahead and widened the third and fourth set on the teeth.
  7. So you think that the fourth set of teeth should be enlarged? Also did the shins look fine otherwise? I can't trim the bottoms until I'm sure they are on the correct sides.
  8. So per a suggestion from a mwmber in my garrison I swapped two of the shins around and got them mocked up. Once I get some feedback if they look good I can do finally trimming and get ready to glue in the inside coverstrips. (Also make sure they can go over the boots fine. Which are almost done drying)
  9. Oh also ran into a minor issue with the shins. Got them trimmed and working on getting them fit well, but I keep feeling like I have them mixed up. I even read up other threads on fisd and such. Anyone got a thought on this?
  10. Got the new shins trimmed out and working on finer trimming for best fitment. Visor material came in so trimming that for the clone helmet and both stormtrooper helmets. Lastly I got the new abs helmet trimmed and cut. Working on getting it to sit where it needs to. A minor hiccup happened and they forgot to send the ears. ( They already fixed it and got some being sent out to me.) Also got any feedback for those teeth holes? Not sure if the small ones are too small.
  11. Hey dont forget about rocky! He's been a huge help getting things ordered. Already got started on the helmet gotta say the .8 abs they use feels sooo much better than the hdpe helmet I started on.
  12. So with the help of a local garrison member and our friends at WTF I can finally finish off the thighs, new shins, and forearms! Also picked up a wtf helmet since I wanted one in abs. So expect progress this weekend for sure!
  13. Ooooh I wonder what came in today!
  14. Ok so I still need to find our heat gun, so abs bending is on hold. However the weather finally was clear enough for me to get some more coats of primer onto the helmet. Also even better news is I finally got the first few coats of paint onto the boots! Also sorry for the lack of updates. College is in full swing and being out of school for nearly a decade has made it a little bit hard to get back into the groove. But I think I should be able to find a good balance soon.
  15. Ok so did more test fitting today and adjusted the lengths of the straps on the inside. So good news is I have the upper body all self supported and with little to no gaps showing anywhere. Now for the bad news. For the butt plate I will have to keep that lip on top and actually add to it to make it flush with the rest. Otherwise I end up with over an inch gap. I also need to heat and adjust the back plate to form better to my back and shoulders as well as the kidney plate needs rounded more. Also I may bend he bottom of the butt plate to curve better. The shoulder straps will need to be lengthened by at least 1-2 inches to make everything sit better. So hopefully on this upcoming weekend I'll have time and I can get cracking on at least a few of these issues.
  16. Well the price isn't bad. However I still have enough silicone to attempt another batch of this. Worst comes to worst I'll probably just stick with the abs hand plates. Because atm I still need to pick up a belt, more primer, and maybe some fuller earth for later.
  17. For speed and fantastic customer support I would suggest WTF.
  18. Ok so tried something new out. I attempted to create silicone handplates. I would have to sadly say it wasn't exactly successful. But let it be known I am trying to keep progress going!
  19. I have a soldering iron so when it gets to that point I'll find it. College is getting into full swing now and I'm getting pressed for time. However I'll try to keep working and a manageable rate.
  20. Ok so while I try to find a way to bend that part down on the butt plate I worked more on the strapping. So smart old me forgot to make holes in the female snaps that are on the armor, so the male snap snaps but feels weak. I may go back to each one and cut out a hole or something. Right now I'm trying to find the sweet spot of how far I want the chest piece to sit up and and low I can get away with have the back plate hang. Also I get the feeling I'm gonna have to put some meat on my mannequin Mr.Bones. He looks a little funny with the armor on. ( Also gotta bring the shoulders in more.)
  21. Ok so before I get crazy and start cutting more straps and putting the snaps on I would like some clarification on the butt plate before I trim this and have a gap that needs adjustment. Now should I trim the top where I have the arrows pointed or should I attempt to heat and flatten it to match the rest so I can keep the extra material for length?
  22. Alright sweet. Once the e6000 drys for the snaps I'll trim the top of the butt plate. Getting very close to being able to start on fitting. Once the extra coverstrips come in I can push to finish the thighs (probably will widen the back to make front look better), forearms( just needs coverstrips), and possibly shins if I have enough material left over. (Though I do have new shins on order from wtf. May combine them to make a good fit.)
  23. Yep I was waiting to get some feedback on those before I removed more material. The butt plate was some concern because I wasn't sure how much of a return edge was acceptable. The knee pack and belt are next up on the list though.
  24. Still waiting for shims, so I got the female snaps put onto the armor until I ran out. Hopefully tomorrow I can pick up more plus more webbing.
  25. I imagine with enough time though through books, comics, or other movies we will have other sandtroopers shown on other planets and with different gear. So Mepd may have to be extended or altered when the time came. Ya know MEAJPD. (Mos eisley and jehda police department)
