  1. I found two types of rivets on Trooperbay. Are these correct and if so, which rivets go where? http://trooperbay.com/accurate-nickle-split-rivets-and-washers/ http://trooperbay.com/2-inch-fasteners-and-washers/
  2. Great stuff!!! I needed this too. Just for clarification, the 3 positions of the left of the ab and kidney pieces should be split rivets vice snaps correct?
  3. Sounds good. I still need a few odds and ends to begin my armor. I'll be making another trip to the fabric store for sure..
  4. ....but is it preferred, i.e. would I get SWAT with it? If it's not right, please let me know and I'll go get the other type.
  5. Police Officer CRL states elastic, so I figured I might as well go for that at minimum, but I'm not sure I got the right stuff.
  6. Does this type work or should it be non-ribbed? http://www.beverlys.com/2-ribbed-non-roll-elastic-white.html
  7. Did you need to sand the inside at all, or just spray? I've not used plasti-dip in years, but I believe they sell it in both spray and brush on versions.
  8. I used the search function and came to this old thread...........my question on the subject is, what are some suggestions for painting the inside of the bucket? To be specific: 1. Do I sand, primer and then paint? 2. If yes to #1, what grit, primer and paint works well?
  9. I went through some build threads in the Police Officer and SWAT sections. I see how it works now for the kindey/ab plates.
  10. Thanks for the clarification. So if my ab and kidney plates don't come together, than is this where the shim comes into play? If so, the shim get s connected to the ab and kidney plates via these rivets?
  11. Apologies if this is common knowledge, but where does one use split rivets on the costume? I'm going to be doing upgrades and I'm researching what I need. Thanks.
  12. Was there any luck finding the ab plate? I'm going to be doing a conversion as well.
  13. Sounds good all! Thanks for the input. I"ve contacted ATA for a helmet kit. I need to get going on putting the whole kit together, but I wanted to get info on a bucket first.
  14. Great stuff! Thanks for posting this up.
  15. Greetings, Hello all. Name is Marcus and I wanted to say hi. I'm actually a former member of the Garrison from about 10-12 years ago. I'm looking to get back into things whenever I can. I had previously put together a set of armor and then a custom mandelorian costume, but raising a family and being in the Marine Corps took me down a different path in life and I had to hang it up. I went to WonderCon and SDCC this year and it was my first time out to events in years. I was recently given a FX kit and I know it's not the best armor out there, but when since it was basically free, I think I can make it work. On the look out for a new bucket though. I'm in North San Diego county (Fallbrook) CA and hope to collaborate with other TDs around me as I get back in the saddle and make my armor.
  16. I'd like to just latch on to this thread, vice starting another one. I'm a returning 501st member. I joined up back in '02, but went away from everything. I'm back now and although I know it's not the best out there, I was given an FX kit. I'm selling off the bucket kit and in search of a new one. After talking to a friend of mine who put together a TD, I think I'm going to make the FX armor a sandy. I was told that ATA helmets match FX armor fairly well color wise. Anyone have any input on that and if I'm going the TD route, does it really matter that color of the ABS??
