Happy birthday X-man. Hope you got the care package and that it helped in some small way. My little girl just felt really bad and wanted to help you and yours out any way she could.
-
Looking good Chuck. Is there ANYTHING you can't build from wood? LOL
-
Welcome aboard!

Okay, Okay. I got you now. I was looking at the way they pointed (arching to the back). I know the originals were handpainted but I was referring to the sweep of the stripes, not "decals"! LOL I never noticed that about the left and right before. I always thought you were referring to them sweeping forward.
-
Man, I have got to send instructions with my tube stripes. Everyone puts them on wrong
The left is on the right and the right is on the left.
Not according to the ANH photos I referenced they're not.

Here's a finished pic of the sig run of lids (this is still the prototype).
-
I hope to have mine soon.

That looks great Scott! (LOL..."great Scott." I kill me) I can't wait to get my sig lid from him in the high gloss HIPS. That was a wonderful idea as well to donate it to the auction for charity. Way to give back buddy!

You guys rock!
I did see LORDVADER74's pack, it's a combination of homemade,Crashmann, and Sci-Fire parts on a hand made frame. I thought it looked very nice, The Crashmann seed trays are great, and Crashmann is working on making them a bit deeper so I think they will be perfect after that! The Sci-Fire parts are cool too, kind of remind me of the old school NERF stuff. Talk about indestructable! I hope to see his pack posted up soon, it is very nice!
Thanks for the kind words bro. I like it and am proud of it b/c I did it myself. However, I couldn't have done it without your fantastic tutorial and willingness to share.

That looks like a real blast. You guys have some great costumes!
-
Those were the droids we were looking for. Now that's funny Anthony!
-
That's a great pic! Happy St. Patrick's day to you too!

They look great to me. Good purchase from a heckuva nice guy!

Unitl I saw this buildup on another forum, I was happy just to live with my inaccurate pack. After seeing Scootch's work and getting ideas from it, I bit the bullet and built my own. I modified it to fit what I have (I used Crashmann seed trays, stinger, tool box, radio/ Sci-Fire cistern and exhuast port) and used this thread almost step by step to build it. I made a slightly different frame but it was scootch's in depth build up that got me going and got me through. I have to do touch up painting and weathering. After that's done, I'll post pics elsewhere for you guys. At any rate, I wouldn't have a decent pack if not for this guy and his amazing build. THANKS SCOOTCH!

Mine was waiting for me right outside the door. Thanks a lot Ben! (you too theGreatSot...you know what for).

Ben I wish you wouldn't have posted the shipping info. Now I'm sure my mail lady thinks I'm stalking her b/c I'm staring at her out the window just hoping she has that package in hand every day. I'm starting to get the "what a weirdo" look! What makes it bad is that she is SO not hot! LOL
-
I think it looks really great bro. You did an excellent job in my opinion.
-
'Bout time you brought this excellent tutorial over here. I just wrapped up my pack today (still gotta add the stinger and straps) and I used this tutorial to do it. You're the man. No...you're the Pack-Man!

So far the 1.5mm suit looks almost as sharp as the original ANH armour, which is all I am concerned with
Sounds very intriguing!

In the next few weeks
I really haven't heard of any armour that hasn't cracked at some stage of it's life. This could change very soon though. I've got a suit here which is 1.5mm thick and it can be bent in two and doesn't crack. I think it would be more suited towards trooping because it feels semi rigid, while the 1mm I have waiting to be formed should be perfect to get that flimsy, on screen look
Just out of interest, why would it have to be thicker and less flexible?
These are just costumes and not meant to be bombproof, and I would have thought that a more flexible armour would be more comfortable to wear and lighter too. Plus, if your really going for a screen used look, thinner plastic is better than thicker
Are you getting sharp pulls with this stuff TM?

Closest Michael's is two hours away. Just ordered it online! Will see how it goes!
Good choice. It's hard to go wrong with E-6000.
-
Hey it's all good Ben. I'm just grateful you did this run and that I was allowed to be a part of it!
-
Awesome work buddy!

Armour that doesn't crack?
I may have something along those lines. Something I am working on right now. Something so flimsy like the screen suits that just doesn't want to crack no matter how much you bend or fold it
I'm intrigued TM.
Oh my gosh! There's dirt on my helmet!

That took some cajones to do to that beautiful paint job you had on that bucket. How're your nerves? I know you were sweating doing this. Looks great to me. A little heavier than I would do but weathering is a very personal thing. I like it.
