  1. The only way I can think of reflecting the laser and maintaining a tube less light Saber is with gas. If the laser was Somehow hydrogen based it would have an electro-negativity of 2.2. Therefore it would maintain non-permanent bonds with oxygen and nitrogen in the air and if this bond was incredibly strong it might pull enough gas to form a thick layer which might reflect the laser.
