  3. Ive just bought a large bergan cover for mine (desert cammo pattern) and got it cheaply off the bay. It completely covers my pack inc the mortar tube so I will be able to carry it on my back leaving my hands to hold the lid, DLT-19 and case with the armour in

  7. Hi guys got some more pics done today and these are the ones im hoping to use for my garrison clearence application im just awaiting the green light from one of the UKG armourers to be able to submit and hopefully become a TD. Once I get it all cleared im then hoping its up to Police officer standard and put in for deployment here, so heres a few more pics for you all to take a look at. Fingers crossed I will join you guys in the sandpit real soon
  8. Hi Neil, I know alot of the guys have gone the 12v route using 8x AA batteries and this gives longer running times and is louder. I have not taken this route and use a 9v setup, I have 2 very good 9v rechargable batteries and use one for the morning and change to the other in the afternoon and ive never had any issues doing it this way and the batteries would last longer if need be, it is plenty loud enough for me to interact with the public and light enough to have everything behind my chest plate. I will be using the same set up when I get my TD cleared. Hope this helps mate.
  9. Best of luck Rolf, I know exactly what you are going through as many years ago I went through the same thing with 3 of my kids when my ex wife decided the same partying and the single life was for her, it took me nearly a year and a lot of battles in the court but I did get full custody of all 3. It wasnt until they had all grown up that she started to take an interest in them and after all the hard work had been done by myself. I struggled for many years trying to hold down a job and look after them myself but when I look back it was all worthwhile they have all done well for themselves and my one daugher has given me two great grand kids. My thoughts will be with you bro.
  10. More great comments, thanks guys im looking foward to joining you in the sandpit real soon
  11. Thanks for the great comments so far guys, it means alot Ive got a few more adjustments to make and a couple of details to finish then hopefully get it in for clearence with my garrison before trying for Police officer here
  12. Ok guys after having my armour and pack strewn all the around the house I thought it was about time to try it all on and get some pics taken. This armour and lid started its life as my first TK and was used many times with the UK Garrison until I got myself another set to troop in. It sat in a box doing nothing with my partner nagging away to get it sold saying I would never wear it again then I pulled out a toilet syphon at work and the rest is history, many of you have left some great comments on the pack I built in a seperate wip I did here on the boards. The armour I have done here was an old FX and had a blue tinge to it so even though with weathering it was still quite hard to match up with different more accurate parts so im hoping ive done ok. The abb details and sniper plate came from TM, shoulder bells from a UKg member and biceps from my good friend Andy (BFA) . The lid is made from fibreglass and from an unknown maker. I still have a few bits to do and some adjustments to make and also have another MP40 pouch on its way. Sorry if the pics are not all that great but it was just a quick try on to see how everything looks, but I would welcome all your comments and advice guys Here you go and please be gentle : Its weird to see that I dont look that dirty in the pics but in the flesh my armour looks as if I just walked through a sand storm !!!!
  13. I just looked at other packs and lined up the best I could to get the same look
  14. Thanks for the great comments guys, just finished dying my boots and doing the mods on my lid for a TD. A bit more work on the armour and soft parts then I can get it all on and post up some pics for you to take a look
  15. Hi Steve, I did the same as Mike but I used a wingnut on each bolt so I can remove it if needed. I also weathered mine a little using raw umber the same as my armour, heres a couple of pics : Hope this helps mate
  16. Hi guys not put an update up for a little while as ive been busy with some of my other TD parts but ive managed to weather up my pack a little bit, ive still got a bit more to do and something a bit special to go on as well my good friend Terry Cooper (one of the guys who rebuilt the Lars Homestead) brought me back a bag of this to go on my pack and armour: Here are some pack pics with the weathering ive done all comments and advice welcome : Now to get my armour and soft parts finished
  17. Brad, your sandy is awesome, the work and detail you have put into it is incredible and it will go on to inspire both myself and other troopers here. I love the details on your blasters, Dave did a great job and I hope when I start the mods on my DLT-19 I can get somewhere close to how yours turned out. I have to admit that the backpack has been my favorite part to do so far, its the weathering im not enjoying so much but your pics have given me some much needed guidence. Great job mate and I look foward to seeing you and your armour on a troop soon
  18. Right then guys as promised and after a long days work here is the update you have all been waiting for, bar some touching up here and there and of course the weathering. I have built this pack in a way that if need be parts can be taken off and replaced easily by using nuts and bolts and screws. Bottom trays riveted to frame : Syphon : Mortar tube : Stinger brackets : Example of the use of nuts and bolts for the parts on top side of trays, brackets are for the seamless method of closing trays together : Strapping for pack is from 2 old laptop bags that had some good quick release clips and I made up some D rings, I used rivets and washers for the top connection and covered over with gaffer tape to tidy up the look : Not the best photo but here are the cable ties being used to connect the trays as per the seamless method : Tape put on the bottom trays : Now the best bit, the pack all put together I hope you all think ive done a good job as this is the first time ive ever attempted anything like this : And last but not least I had to try it on and I managed to clear up the workshop/kitchen before the misses got home to take this pic I would like to say thanks to Rick (Dirtyboy) for the parts I needed to complete this build and to each and everyone of you who's build threads ive spent hours looking through to get ideas and inspiration from, not to mention all your great comments throughout this build. Thank you guys I hope ive done you all proud. I would welcome all your comments good or bad guys Now the next job is get back on the armour and finish it so I can join you all in the sandpit
  19. Thanks Vince, we have a tape in the UK thats known as gaffer tape and gets used for all sorts of repairs, ive taken alook at some deployment requests and seen that the tape has been used on the lower blue trays so I will go with that and use it on mine
  20. Again thanks all for the great comments, the pack has been started to be put together will update with pics tomorrow A quick question before I do too much, do I need to add the gaffer and electrical tape along the bottom seed tray as ive noticed some do and some dont ? I dont want to add it if its wrong as the paint will come off if I had to remove it
  21. Thanks Vince, ive got saturday all to myself (misses will be at work) so the workshop (kitchen) will be back open to put together
  22. Thanks for the great comment Marcus, im so looking foward to getting this pack finished along with my armour and joining you guys in the sandpit. So here is a little teaser showing all the pack parts together awaiting assembley, im hoping to get it all put together over the weekend and will update with pics once done Sorry for the poor lighting, as I took this pic tonight under some rubbish bulbs. Ive also just noticed the bottom cap on the mortar tube is missing ive not glued these on yet as I need to pull some bolts through the tube to fix to the frame
  23. Well I think thats about it for the painting of the pack parts (will check tomorrow on how the black has covered on the stinger) The final bit to paint was on the black on the stinger and now its done I am now hoping the next update for you guys will be the pack all put together
  24. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel on my pack build. Got a 2nd coat of Humbrol 47 on the trays and stinger and it has covered well so will leave them at that, will hopefully get a coat of black on the stinger tomorrow night: Frame has now been sprayed up black and drying as I type this: So apart from the black to do on the stinger everything has been painted, will give it all a few days to dry and harden off then maybe I can get this all put together
