  1. Here is another thought... the Current CRL does not allow for a SE Sandtrooper, so could you get approved? So we have Quartermaster willing to have a go at the pack, think we could get Trooper1 to have a go at the pauldrons? So many costumes...so little time...
  2. Good lord and I thought I was insane with all my costumes... I think it's great you can do what you love and supply others with you talented builds to keep you doing what you love...
  3. Looks good, a few minor things I see though: The Move along trooper has 16 tube stripes not 15 on his left side: As pointed out the radio has a black face. Can you wear your thighs higher? They are really low, which show a lot of black and you can see your garters pretty badly The biceps and forearms need to be closer together. They actually were connected to each other by elastic in the movie which made the forearms and biceps sit close together again minimizing the black: I'll direct you to this thread on FISD that sums it up better than I could: http://www.whitearmo...oto-references/ I THINK your handplates may be wrong. It is hard to tell from the pics but they look to be put on correctly, which for the Move along is not right. There are 2 versions of this guy, the pre break and the after break, Prebreak he had a left handguard glued to his right glove, and a left handguard on his left glove. After the break, he had the handguards reversed with a right handguard glued to his left glove, and a left handguard glued to his right glove: Pre break: Post break: I was called out for this on my own SWAT app because I was going for Prebreak and had used the Post break handguard set up. Last thing to say is the pouches, you have an extra pouch there on the belt the spannish pouch was not there. He had 2 belt configs as well. Prebreak he had the 2 large three ammo clip pouches on each hip, after break he had a spannish pouch on the right and on the left. (honestly may be wrong on the post break config of the belt as my focus was on the pre, but there was not a config with the small pouch and the three clip pouches) May seem like I am being a picky snit, not trying to be, for the most part you have a great build, just a few little things I noticed as this is the trooper I emulate as well. Good Luck! Edit: You got your shoulder pouch to hang right the first time, I hate you! I have to fight mine all the time to get it to hang correctly lol.
  4. Very true!, looks like conveyer belt rubber material to me as well. I have worked out a reason for the ROTJ troops to be on tatooine, beyond the film makers got lazy during the SE... In ROTJ, the Emperor says that an "entire legion of his best troops" awaits the rebels on the Endor moon. So the armor the TKS wore in ROTJ are what his "best" troops wear... So flash back to ANH. The MEPD is stationed on Tatooine and has been there forever. They are like lots of deployed troops out in an area far from important, equipped with older model, worn out things, specifically designed for the desert environment perhaps, but still old and worn out, far from the latest model of armor/equipment. It has been used and abused, held together with duct tape and spit, with a clothes hanger tossed in for good measure...(or whatever the SW equivalent ) Darth Vader's star destroyer would have at least one squad of "Elite" troops I would think. When he tells the TK commander (out of armor) to see to it personally, he is sending down those elite troops to the surface to supplant and guide the already existing garrison on the planet. Think the FBI coming to lend a hand to a local law enforcement branch. (and I bet the MEPD resents them as much as local Law resents the feds stepping in lol) So out in the desert we see a mix of the elite transfered from space TKS, with just the bare modifications for desert work, there to oversee the search. in Mos Eisley, we see the good ol local MEPD doing their jobs, same as they would without the hotshots from command.... Yeah I like to make things "real" as opposed to just random mistakes and oversites on the prop department. When I put on my costumes I assume a role, and like an actor I like to know who that person is I am supposed to be. I do not want to be just another fanboy in an expensive costume.
  5. As far as weathering goes, looks like they did the major paint splash sortta thing more than the layers of wash and blendings and such. Do we have more pictures of the SE TDs like the one TM shared? What about the packs? Are those pauldrons like the ANH TD pauldrons?, they seem a little off to me...
  6. A group of Rotj or se tks look great together but put them with an anh sandy then they start to be less great. I love my Rotj but I can see me putting him into se dirt one day...that pic looks too cool TM. Any tk can benefit from a sandy makeover! Here is my sandy next to my CFO...see what I mean?
  7. This is great! My centurion suit is a CFO ROTJ I keep it Death Star white, but this is very interesting! If you see my ROTJ next to my anh or esb though...well...still gotta love it.
  8. No they cant really add the tabs since they would be so tiny. posibly if you had lass costumes and they did bigger pictures, but mine was a squeeze as it was
  9. and now the back... what do you all think? He managed to get all 5 other costumes on there lol!
  10. I give you Sand Vader! or Darth Sand....
  11. Sometimes you get confused as to what goes with what! I give you Sand Vader! LOL was taking some tweaked suit ups of my ROTJ Vader and thought this was funny.
  12. I figure just about anything is better than the proliferation of FX kits, Recast or not I know that sucks for the Armor makers like TM who works very hard for his armor, and to lesser degree RS who lets face it, recast most of their suit. I feel bad about someone ripping off TM because his is a true sculpt he has put years into, more than RS who while certainly putting in work to clean up.prep, and sculpt some parts, did not put near the level of work into their recasting of a suit and some TM parts than TM did for his molds. This is an expensive hobby, and the vast majority of people are going to go the cheaper route. I mean look at music/video Pirating, even being to buy stuff cheap off of Itunes wont stop people from getting it for free of of a file share site. At least this NE armor looks better than the previous cheaper alternatives. The downside is the proliferation of recasts could hurt the prop community as the makers of high quality stuff could raise prices to make up for loss, or just stop making it altogether because why waste all your time to make someone else money? This is a much nicer discussion than any of the ones on FISD We are definately a more laid back for the hobby group than Elitist Armor Snobs. Not sayin FISD is completely over run with that type, mind you
  13. Looks like a Droid to me... WHAT? it could have been the Astromech I wanted.... Darn Tuskens...always ganging up on people...
  14. NE with no helmet cost a garrison made about $650.00 US. In the long run no matter how it came about it is going to get bought up because it is cheaper and easier to get in the USA than the great Euro Armors. Please note I have an RS (as my TD) a TM (as my ANH Hero/Stunt and ESB TK) AND a CFO as my ROTJ TK. I am in no way supporting the NE armor as from all the pictures I see it seems to obviously be a recast of RS. We all knew it would happen, it is up to the individual to decide if they are going to support it or not, but I suspect that price/availability will over rule many misgivings someone has. Most of my Garrison Mates flat refuse to believe it is a recast probably because they want it themselves and have fooled themselves into believing what makes them feel better. In the end no matter where it comes from it is a good looking suit so such is life.
  15. I agree its obvious I am put in front of it and not really there. Unfortunately all the cards look that way not just mine.
  16. I'm in series 9, so far the front of my card is done, what do you all think? Fitting that Series 9 also has this card eh?
  17. Just did a first full suit up of my ROTJ Vader, still a few tweeks needed but its...wait for it...Moving Along!
  18. Well that was from Brian Muir who sculpted the suit on a cast of an English actor. He had said in the past on the RS webpage that it was for about a 5 foot 7 guy and about 150-175 lbs... ahh here is the blurb... looks like you were right as Denis plenty was 5 foot 10, but according to Brian the various TKs/TDs were from 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 10. Brian tells us he sculpted the armour over a casting of Dennis Plenty who was 5′ 10″ (178cm) inturn we would recommend this for fitting, however there is scope to move outside these tolerances. We have guys looking great in the suit at 5′ 6″ to 6′ 3″ (168cm to 190cm). We also recommend a slim fitting, but it fits upto around a 36″ (91.5cm) waist, please contact us if you have any doubts about the way the armour will fit, we are pleased to advise.
  19. Very Cool! I think you should have arrested Dotty, its record looks a bit...wait for it...Spotty!
  20. Was not trying to say you cant be taller! I am 6 foot 1 and usually have to duck a bit to be shorter than our DV in pics.... Was just saying since the first post said closer to screen accurate height. Fact is as the time goes by, people get taller. in the 1800s someone 5 foor 8 was a giant! I have had people tower over me at troops these days.
  21. You do know Screen sandies were about 5 foot 7 and between 150-175 pounds? But if you want to be taller for cheap, you can buy cheap flip flops and cut them down to raise your heels up a bit.
  22. This past weekend I Represented the MEPD at the ASK fun walk and 5K charity event in Richmond Va. ASK is a childhood cancer center and this is one of the big fundraisers they hold a year. This is my Garrison's 11th year there! The best moment for me was when a little knee high ASK Kid with Downs Syndrome came up to me and put his hand out. I thought He wanted a High five, but instead he grabbed my hand and held it and stood by my side for a long time. Then he hugged my leg and ran back to his parents. later, the ASK Kids Paraded through the crowds and when he passed us, he saluted! I was so happy to be able to make this one. This folks, is what it is all about. Early on I was able to inspect a potential trouble maker, and I had to let him know I would be there if he stepped out of line... All was well until his buddy showed up and things got a little ugly....If I had only remebered they travel in single file to hide their numbers.... I soon restored order however... We were poised at the finish line to cheer them on... Later, local citizens wanted to get a few pics of the Empire's finest: and this is the victory story of the troop: from Eric Russel of Pop My Flash Photograpghy: This is why I go out to troop with the 501st. This little girl pictured here was coming up the sidewalk in her wheelchair with her mom and she started to cry as soon as she saw Darth Vader. She wanted her picture taken with Vader. Her mom wheeled her up, and she said "No.. I am going to stand." She pulled her self up out of her chair, took off her face mask and held her portable kit for this shot. It took all of energy but she wanted this. It's moments like this, to make a child's life better even for a brief moment and have a happy memory that her whole family can all share. We had a strong turnout: Finally, after a hard days work, our friend, TD 11038 heads off to a well deserved rest: Thanks for looking my Brothers!
  23. Well i have all 3 types. The pvc is superwhite but dulls down well (my sandy lid is pvc) its flexy and resilient but if it does break you cant make ovc paste like abs paste. The abs is not superwhite but not as offwhite as my tm armor (my ESB tk uses this) its pretty flexy but the cheek tubes can crack when you are putting on the strim. They are a little thin in the pull around the drop down from the frown. No worries as a little abs paste and fine sandpaper takes care of it if you need it. The hdpe or pp or fishpond lid (my ANH stunt uses this) is super sharp and very resilient. Down side here is you have to paint the lid and could lead to bigger chips than you want. If i were to order again id get the abs probably for the ease of repair so but then again i have never had to repair my pvc one. I did crack my abs cheek tube when i put the trim on it but have not had it break since.
