  1. I mentioned the fact that you work at ILM because you are a professional and work in a professional environment.

It wasn't a slight, it was an acknowledgment of your experience .I mistakenly assumed that you worked with real world products in the creature shop, but after rereading your profile i realized that you work within the CGI/simulated realm. My apologies for that.

Please don't get me wrong. You are an amazingly talented artist, and I am not downplaying your skill and talent.

    Many people will agree with you and opt for a "found part" instead of a casting.I myself am a supporter of using found parts when possible and would not fault anyone for going that route.;

I offered to modify these for accuracy and cast them in rubber. That saves work on the customer's end and allows them to troop without worry of damage to their found parts and pack.

Yeah sorry I misunderstood your post.

But you should agree with me that 80$ are quite a lot for a single item.

Wouldn't be too heavy if was made in rubber? I am really curious now

  2. You work at ILM, certainly you must understand the costs involved with molding and casting .

Quality materials and skilled labor do come at a premium.

If the estimate is deemed unreasonable by the masses, then I will withdraw my offer and bid you all good day.

Firstly I don't get which difference makes if I work at ILM or somewhere else.

Secondly I don't know the costs of moulding and casting perhaps the next time you might spend few words about it.

If a project would cost me so much per piece I would give up before even start.

To be honest I wouldn't spend 80$ for a copy when I can get one for 6£ on the link I was suggesting.

    Good luck with your project.

  3. Nice one Strider and thanks for the heads up on this is issue with the DDs ones.
I though mine was almost done and now....new challenge accepted.

I am going to try with the Foamy PVC that gave me very nice results on the radios and few other bits, the wood cracks and splits too easily and I don't have a very light hand

  4. So in my researches I've found

    orange

    ribbed white on the top

flat white used mainly upside down but there are a couple of shots where you can see it on one trooper. When the MF is about to take off.

I can also add that there was another type as seen in the second picture left trooper in the desert with a white top and white bottom

  5. Take a look at Picture number 2, with the troopers standing side by side.

    The bicep strap....See it....

the white one has the strap attached on top, and the white on bottom has the strap attached underneath.

giving you the white one flipped upside down.

You should mention that those with the white on the top and black on the bottom used on the corporals came without the ribs on the white side. ;)

  6. I got your points Ryan
    Now just for talking
The ground works in natural conditions as fill light in that way you can lit the Tuskens up better than what I did.
For any composition I always try to follow these rules of course being an artwork you can do whatever you want nobody can say a word ^_^
    Directional_light_cheat_sheet.jpg

In you composition you can even follow this ref, in your case the Rim light are the suns, the fill light will be the ground
    rim+light+only.jpg

I also did just a bit of defocusing on the secondary subjects and this image shows better my intents, keep the focus on the Tuskens even if they aren't the biggest subjects in the composition.

if your planning to re work your image it will be great see the wip.

    Looking forward to it

  7. Great composition Ryan.
They only thing I feel to suggest you for the next one is to force the light direction from one main point.
Here all the figures seem lit from different sources of light. In this one having two suns "in camera" all the figures needed to be darkened next to the point to look like silouette against the background.
Like this more or less sorry if I used you pic
