  1. WOOHOO! Thanks for your help, support and guidance, all of you. I'll wear the badge with pride!
  2. It looks ok in the picture. Where is it from?
  3. Good new, Rolf. Really pleased for you. It's a shame it came to this, but glad the court made the right decision.
  4. A few more pics from Saturday, May 4th, posted with the kind permission of Dan W who documented the whole of the weekend for the UK Garrison. What an epic weekend. Will definitley be doing this one again next year. Loved every minute, even though I as still aching on Monday. Britannia Patrol in full force! Can't believe it. Photobombed by a TK!
  5. How's this? The ab plate has been my main bugbear with this armour but I hadn't touched it as no-one had mentioned it til now. Aside from the bit below the buttons, the thing I hated was the bit around the central panel. Instead of being one large flat area with the central rib at the top, FX armour has 3 ribs. Always hated that, so I sorted that at the same time. I feel better now, and as you said Rick, I'm far happier with the result. Just need one more coat and some weathering. Almost there...
  6. Doh! Wish you'd said that first, lol. Major reworking of ab plate well underway. No going back now, but not a bad thing. Watch this space.
  7. Yup, after. Make sure your alterations are done before the weathering. As well as the point made by Daniel, above, if anything went wrong or you needed to replace a section due to mistakes, you'd have to do the weathering all over again. I found my original legs weren't long enough, so had to get a different set. I would have been gutted if I'd wasted all the time and research weathering the old ones only to replace them and have to start again.
  8. Funnel? Do you mean the groove in the centre under the 3 buttons (as on RS and TM suits)? It's not present on this armour (yet!), I used the cover strip to cover the holes left by the TK ab buttons. Leave it with me, I can see something else I'd like to amend too...
  9. Marcus, here's one with a decent BIN price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-Army-Desert-Camo-Backpack-Cover-Surplus-Equipment-Military-Rucksack-Bag-/121101211097?pt=UK_Collectables_Militaria_LE&hash=item1c3231d5d9 I've already put a bid in on one which ends in a few days, so you're safe with this one. Wish I'd found this first. I'd probably have received it by now.
  10. Some final pics of the whole ensemble, with completed SWAT upgrades, as requested. Revised arm/shoulder pieces with return edges and simulated cover strips: Helmet with lowered brow trim and white ears:
  11. Not a 501st troop, just a little event I attended with Kent based costuming group Kenturions to help raise money for Demelza House, a local children's hospice. It was a fun run around Brands Hatch racing circuit. We walked around the track with the runners and walkers (got lapped a couple of times) then had pics taken afterwards. It was only a short troop - early start, in armour by 8am, all over by 11am, but a great chance to spend a few hours in the costume to see how comfy it was. The good news is that nothing broke or fell off, (I think I need to add a velcro tab to the left calf to stop it rotating inward) but I am aware of a couple of places that could do with a little padding before my first proper troop at Legoland next weekend. Security detail on the starting line: The hill up to Druids is steeper than it looks... So we paused for a photo at the top to get our breath back before heading down to Graham Hill bend, behind us in this pic. With Demelza House's mascot, Dotty. Who says "the camera never lies"?
  12. Cheers Daz, I'm bidding on the one you suggested. Now I just need a matching gun bag for my 2pce doopys DLT-19. I have a woodland camo one at the moment, but i't just not right. Marcus, just search for Bergan cover.
  13. Just wondering, is all. Due to the size and shape of it, it's a bit awkward to transport in a crate or box. Obviously it would be nice to keep it covered after an event when I'm lugging my gear back to the car, just so it's not overwhelmingly obvious that I'm the guy who was wearing the sandtrooper costume earlier. Have any of you made custom covers for your packs?
  14. Cool. Thanks for the update Scribbler. I'm sorting out the simulated cover strips on the forearms this week. I have a local non-501st troop this weekend to give the costume a test run before Legoland the following week, so I need to get this finished.
  15. Yeah, I've just been looking at a couple of NE builds on FISD. It looks mostly ok, more accurate than FX, but not to TM or RS level. One of the builds had some issues with the forearm parts matching up, but it's definitely 501st compliant (as long as you put it together right ). I haven't seen a completed suit yet, but the parts look good. Your link doesn't seem to be working, BTW.
  16. No front sight, but apart from that, it looks pretty good.
